But you don't hold your ground enough or long enough. You allow him to continually insult you, attempt to make you feel guilty and give him more and more and more. When do you stop, Mark? It makes me sick you won't move on to good people that deserve a break and need your help. I pay you the monthly fee $10, to watch the other videos. And there are so many people you could be helping instead of continually feeding his drug habit and flushing your money down the toilet.

Wow! Mark, you can " love" a person to death. Stop helping this one. Rebecca is acting like a spoiled brat. Rebecca needs to figure this out on her own, or not! No one can do this but you Rebecca. No amount of money will help Rebecca. She isn't taking responsibility or accountability for her actions. So disrespectful abd and manipulative. Walk away Mark, knowing you have poured so much into this. No more.

Rebecca is a perfect example of how no matter how hard you try and how much you give .. you can't help someone who is not ready/wanting the help. I really do hope one day Rebecca gets clean and Mark can get the much deserved appreciation he deserves from her. Right now, Rebecca sees him as a tool to get what she wants.

I was a homeless addict once too, I earned money by cleaning, I slept in my car (yes lucky to have it) bought a planet fitness membership to keep me inside at night and it had a shower, got myself a job got clean and started real life. Now I’m married with two beautiful children, I have a career and great perspective. And I have BPD. Food, water and earned opportunity for shelter is what they need, and that’s all

Congratulations!! And yes it’s possible! I was the person you thought would’ve never got clean! I was living on the streets sleeping in abandoned cars. I’d purposely want to get locked up just to have a place to sleep and food to eat! Til those fentanyl withdrawals started! Ugh the worst. I did things I said and thought I’d never ever do. That’s why they say never say never! I had a minimal $150 dope habit, daily just waiting to die. I mean I did it all. But thankful to God, I found out I was pregnant and my life changed. My son saved me!! I finally felt like I had a purpose again in my life and I did it for him and myself to be there for him! I moved out of NJ to Florida, have my own house, bought a brand new car last summer, I have my own business. Things that if you told me 5 years ago I’d have I wouldn’t believe you! I’m 5 years sober and never looking back🙏🏼❤️

@@justmyopinion2 sorry about the loss of your son. We have a terrible terrible drug problem currently in this country. We have an open border and things are just flooding through. But you’re right you cannot reason with someone who is not in the right mind. We need a much better mental health system. We need mental hospitals back again. And we need them so that family and or friends can have a loved one on an involuntary hold if they are a danger to themselves or others. But that being said, as terrible it is, im sorry you lost your child. , there must be some relief as well. drug addiction, reeks havoc on the entire family. And as much as you miss your son, it’s probably a huge relief as well. Whatever was bothering him, he clearly didn’t want help or was not able to take that step. She’s struggling with addiction. The prospect of taking away a drug from an addict literally feels like a matter of life and death- of _survival._
They need the drug to emotionally survive in their reality because that is the only way they know how to feel safe and cope.

She is sick, addicted and it's sad to watch comments judging her as if she was in control of herself, as if someone with clear mental problems could behave reasonably, respectfully and according to social norms. It's so much pain, so much pain. I interpret Rebecca’s behavior with the mounting stress of reality. This is one of the things she’s been doing drugs to avoid and now it’s unavoidable. It’s easy to love Rebecca when she’s entertaining, but this is where we see the reality of drug addiction. They run from and deny all their issues then take drugs to forget or be somewhere else. Most often, they’re not the sweetest people sober.

    • @shelleybeans5981
      @shelleybeans5981 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

I have to disagree. As someone with a loved one who finally beat a 13 year drug addiction, I would pray for interactions when he was sober. When using, he displayed horrible narcissistic personality traits that I never experienced when he was sober. It was extremely stressful to be around him. He's now clean for over 4 years and it's been a delight to get to know the person that was hidden beneath the drugs and the behaviors the drugs produced. He's now an extremely sweet person and a joy to be around.

And now she's not been seen in a week after leaving the phone behind. What a sad story. So many sad stories. And by the way, I use the pronouns "her" and "she" for Rebecca because that's what she seems to want and prefer. Is it delusional? I don't know why it surprises people when someone deep in the trenches of addiction and mental illness does not respond to help in a rational and grateful way. Of course, Mark is not obligated to help someone, especially if they are responding to such help in an entitled manner, but it would be naive to think that Rebecca has the wherewithal to respond in a way that made sense given her substance use and other mental health struggles. She’s been offered mental health services and rehabs over and over and over, and even now when the threat of deportation is very real, she still refuses. @@katc1949I hear what you are saying and yes, someone else without untreated mental health issues and drug addiction would most likely "doing everything she could to make herself look better".
But Rebecca is not of sound mind; years on the streets, no family or friends, gender dysphoria, untreated mental and physical health and smoking/sniffing god knows what everyday will absolutely wreck your mind and stunt your development, maturity and communicative skill. This is such a complex issue and yes It's frustrating to watch, but her brain and body are literally broken right now. It can be hard to empathise past a certain point because she isnt "doing what she needs to do"... We have no idea what it's like in her mind, and it's pretty common for people who lack emotional maturity to project feelings of insecurity (or in this case, probably hopelessness) onto others. Just because she isn't behaving in the way you think she should be, doesn't mean she isn't feeling terrified.

This is the nearest to the real truth of living with & loving an addict many of the commenters here will ever have been, its ugly, it always gets ugly no matter how charming or interesting the person with the addictions is.
They lash out & its painful when we dont deserve it but they are in their own world, we really dont matter no matter how much we help tgem or care. They live for how the drugs make them feel.. all else is superficial.

Mark obviously cares about Rebecca, and more than most, he is also aware of an addicts manipulation and gaslighting tactics. He wants to help her and do the right thing by her. But for everyone jumping on Rebecca today, just try and think about all of her trauma and just how much it will effect her. Cultural, religious, ethnic, gender identity, abandonment, abuse, assault, isolation, depression. It's not just addiction here at play. Most people will push others aside when things get too much to handle. On one hand I don't think she has ever received so much support from someone and on the other I don't think she believes she deserves it or it will all go to sh*t so why bother. I truly hope for the best with Rebecca, but I also think Mark is amazing for supporting her where he can no matter the emotional response he gets from her. Yes, she is a drug addict and today she came across as ungrateful, but she is also a scared, lonely person who just wants to live her truth and is stuck in homelessness and addiction. Rebecca deserves a chance and as dysfunctional as it is also deserves Mark's friendship. I just hope she embraces sobriety to enjoy it before it's too late.

I never comment on these videos, but I felt compelled to with this one.
Rebecca is acting out because of stress and fear. She's *terrified* of being deported, but she dug her hole so deep that to take accountability and try to dig herself out would only emphasize how badly she messed up. It's denial, and by blaming everyone else ("it's because I'm trans" or "it's about race" or "it's because you're not helping me enough") she can avoid looking into that anguishing mirror and seeing that *she* is the problem. That so much of her fear and her worry, her misery, is of her own doing. As necessary as it is, that would probably destroy her. I'm not saying it's right, but this type of lashing out is so incredibly human, and Mark is amazing for documenting it.
To those saying he's exploiting Rebecca, what would you have him do? His reach is the very reason Rebecca now has an attorney fighting for her. Mark is quite possibly the only person in her life that she can rely on, and I personally don't give a crap if he's filming a tiny portion of that help because *he's doing something*. He's trying to help a person so broken that precious few people have any hope for her salvation. How beautiful is it for someone to refuse to give up on Rebecca, even if all it adds up to in the end is her having a true friend when she needed it most? Regardless of the outcome, that's quite the gift, if you ask me.
As for the end, Rebecca running away yet again, who could have expected anything different? I'll admit to feeling a worried frustration, but Rebecca is a real person. There is no script detailing her character arc into salvation. She is a deeply, deeply flawed human being. I hope beyond measure that she is able to somehow turn things around for herself, but whether or not she does, it's not for us to judge nor to condemn her. It's my opinion that these videos are meant to be observed, so that maybe we can understand just a little bit better the lives of those society would deem a plague.
For better or for worse, Rebecca is a person. I love Mark for giving her respect and as much dignity as she could possibly accept.
She's scared, y'all. This video is her backed into a corner and fighting to get out. Mark has my utmost respect for not giving up on her, despite how futile it seems

You’re watching a mentally ill person live with their mental illness. You’re not entitled to a happy ending and Rebecca will probably never behave in a self-preserving way.

You feel “genuinely mad” at someone who is deep in addiction and mental illness?…. For not responding to help being offered in a way that makes sense to YOU. What a naive thing to say. If we expected all unhoused users on skid row to jump at the opportunity to go to rehab, get clean, and live a straight life (as if it were that easy) then we would not be faced with this epidemic of homelessness and substance abuse. Also, it reads quite dehumanizing to say that someone has been your “fascination” for the last few years.. this fascination is because they present as so outlandish and eccentric and crazy that it’s interesting to you, until of course they don’t respond to help in a rational way that makes sense to YOU.

She’s gotten more chances than most other immigrants that get in trouble. She should have cleaned herself up the first few times she got arrested and let go. Every immigrant knows if you get in trouble, your citizenship gets revoked and you get sent home. She’s from Egypt, she knew she never wanted to be sent there, yet refuses to get it together. The consequences she can face are far worse than anyone knows, yet she refuses to take any help offered. I don’t believe for a second that she believes it’s actually going to happen, if she did she wouldn’t be acting like this.

Well, the timing is just right for Rebecca to start alienating Mark (and us) with sarcasm, disrespect, and delusions of entitlement. I believe what's happening is that Rebecca can see that there's help for him--Mark, an immigration attorney, and whatever the law can do for him at this point--so he's going to have to do whatever it takes to derail that help. Rebecca isn't ready to actually get help, it appears--he needs to find a reason that the help won't work, or that Mark isn't on his side, or some other reason to see himself as being victimized in some way. That will allow him to go off (again) and keep getting high, in or out of jail, while blaming external circumstances for his situation. He's absolutely not in touch with the fact that his problem is himself.

Yes, addicts do this when they’re sick in their addiction.

He is not ready! That's what people don't understand with addiction. It will only be successful when the person themselves wants it more than anything and they Are Ready!!!!!

I don't think she's being rude I think she's just nervous and the reality of her circumstances are finally kicking in

Rebecca's treatment of Mark someone who helps him/her is absolutely DISGUSTING

The frustration Rebecca is expressing seems a projection of the frustration she feels towards herself.. just like she said “I need my cooperation” deep down she knows.. she knows everything mark is telling her. She knows what she needs to do. She’s an addict, she’s addicted, and she’s suffering terribly from mental illness. The lack of love for herself is evident. She still deserves love and support.

He knows* ... .but realistically Rebecca dosnt want to change...he just wants to manipulate as much as possible like he's been doing for a very long time obviously and live this fantasy life....not to mention being arrested for exposing himself!...I hope there wasn't to many poor kids that have had to watch this freak playing with himself or doing whatever was going on....
