      Question though, does 1/2 teaspoon of elderberry syrup = 2 gummy bears? I ask because the recommended serving for just the syrup itself is 1/2 teaspoon-1 teaspoon a day. So since u give 2 gummies a day...I'm assuming the 2 gummies =1/2 teaspoon of the syrup?

    Are you sure that gelatin is from grass fed cows? We used use that brand but could find where it said grass fed, so we switched to vital proteins.

    I can’t get all of the molds filled before my gelatin hardens are it won’t go in the dropper. Any tips?

    • @ouroilyhouse
      @ouroilyhouse  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can pour it directly from the pot and skip the dropper to make it faster.

    Do you know if pectin could be used instead of gelatin?

    • @ouroilyhouse
      @ouroilyhouse  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have never tired it. I did a little google search and found this...Pectin and gelatin are substances that can thicken liquids to form a semisolid gel. While both can be used to prepare products such as jams, fruit spreads and jellies, their different properties require different cooking methods. Gelatin is more versatile and can be used in a wider range of foods.

    • @skyricharde6629
      @skyricharde6629 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen people add a potassium sorbate at the end. Very little is needed, like 1/4 tsp of Potassium Sorbate solution. and it should extend the shelf life to around 9 months.

      Karen Rizak I literally just did this recipe yesterday with her gummy bear molds… I did a different elderberry recipe though- but used the same measurements (and same gelatin) that she provided in this video, it made 410 gummy bears for me.

    When you store your gummies in the fridge, do they stick together? Do you have to do anything to them before putting them in a jar?

    • @ouroilyhouse
      @ouroilyhouse  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, I just stick them in a mason jar.

    • @kijijischool4990

      You can sprinkle a lil cornstarch on them to keep them from sticking together

    I’ve made my elderberry syrup and how I have all of these elderberries left over in the pot. Can I purée those in a blender and turn those into gummy bears by adding gelatin? Anyone try this? I hate to waste all of these berries.

    • @ouroilyhouse
      @ouroilyhouse  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You shouldn't consume the actual berries.

      Don’t eat them. I always steep them one more time for tea. Then I give them to my friend for her chickens. Or you can compost.

    • @ShayBaby64
      @ShayBaby64 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      after you have simmered the juice out of them the berries and the seeds themselves are expended, no need to consume Yes go ahead and steep them again for tea but after that put them in the compost. All of their goodness is in the syrup and the tea
