I did mine with roughly equal parts of tapioca starch, baking soda (I wanted the texture to make it more of a volumizing powder), sandalwood talc, turmeric, ginger power, cinnamon powder. These colors work great with my warm blonde hair and don't look like I just dumped baby powder into my roots. Works great!
So crazy, yesterday my client and I were discussing dry shampoo recipes that are natural and this video pops up today. I will definitely be sharing this with her! Also, any videos on eczema or psoriasis?
Love this!! I have tried training my hair in the past for a month but it didn’t really work. But your video has inspired me to try it again doing this. Thx Laura! 😄
I know this is an older comment but if it's of any benefit to you it took way longer than a month for me to train my hair. If you have extremely oil hair then you may not be able to train your scalp but it's worth a shot if you don't have any major scalp issues/concerns. 😊
Fantastic video! I've been making my own dry shampoo for a little while but never thought of adding essential oil to it and its benefits - thanks for the helpful information :) Love your channel xx
Love your video and thank you for not calling us guys. Some people cannot speak without saying guys. I am aware it is popular but rude to call a lady a guy. Thank you again😉
Thank you once again. I just tried this this morning and loved it too. May hair is quite dark brown so i added quite a bit of cocoa. But it did work really well. In fact I am really impressed with the cocoa idea. As I've tried commercial dry shampoos in the past and they weren't create for me. Besides the scary chemicals in them, they tended to leave a whilte film in my hair. Even when brushed out, some remained. With the cocoa, you apply, brush out and all is fine. Hair is clean looking, with body. And no residue showing. Very impressed. I added Rose EO to mine as I thought chocolate and rose ought to smell good together, Tney did also because I used to much cocoa that is by far the predominent scent. I could see it will Sweet Orange EO too! Orange and chocolate imo would be good togehte4r too. Anyway, thanks once again for another hit.:-)
I’m don’t like the smell of lavender but I have peppermint oil that I plan to use . I’m wondering if you can tell me how peppermint benefits the scalp and hair. Thanks for this easy DIY!
I follow your sister and she tagged your channel on one of her videos. I am so glad I decided to look into your channel, because I have been so interested in DIY products after throwing away all my products with toxic chemicals. Thank you for making these videos!! I just bought some cocoa powder and arrowroot the other day because I read about dry shampoo somewhere else. I am interested to see your other videos!
I am asian also with very thin black hair, I personally use activated charcoal because cocoa powder just isn't dark enough for people with black hair. It works amazingly, I used to have to wash everyday now I can go at least 3 days without washing. You can find activated charcoal on amazon. Hope this helps.
@@cynthia5082002 I haven't noticed any drops. What I do is once I have applied it to my hair with a make up brush, I leave it for about 5 minutes to let it soak into my hair. Then I will comb my hair to make sure there won't be any fallout, or flip your head over and kind of rub it into your scalp. When you do this you may get a few bits on the floor, so make you do it over a sink or put a towel on the floor. But after you have done that there shouldn't be any that falls out over the day. As for rain, I haven't been out in the rain so idk. But I would just make sure you always cover your head if you're in rain cause it might start to come out if you get really wet. If it's only light rain it shouldn't be a problem, only if you're in heavy rain.
Would this be okay on an elderly lady? I have a resident that needs a good wash but she freaks out when we try to wash her hair...mind you, she, (as all of them) are on tons of meds...her hair, because of the meds is also thinning in spots
I'm an avid newcomer here. LOL I made this tonight..LATE. I applied it and hoping to NOT wash my hair tomorrow. I didn't have cocoa powder but I used a smidgen of cacao because even though I have a few grays, I have very light brown hair. I also have to wash my hair or it sections off and exposes my ears and it's very embarrassing from the back view. I guess that's where all my oil comes from. So, use this daily until the next wash?
I'm a Latina with long black hair and I made this recipe with cornstarch. No amount of cocoa powder was enough to make it dark but I opted to still try it. Now my hair looks ashy/dusty on top and greasy on bottom🤦🏽♀️, like if I was dusting my ceiling fans😆.

Yes peppermint is great for the hair!
Can you use cornstarch instead of the other one
Does corn starch work in the ingredients too? Thanks. I never seem to have arrowroot powder lol
Yes corn starch works very similar to arrowroot powder!
Thank you for answering all my questions@@ouroilyhouse
I'm curious if baking soda will work as I cornstarch is hard to find because of quarantine.
Thanks a lot 😇😇😇😇😇
@@pachotandfamily6120 I think too much baking soda can be drying
Are there differences to the arrowroot powder you can buy? Or do I just get whatever I find?
I have the kind I use linked in the youtube description box.
@@ouroilyhouse im sorry but I don't find any links to the powder in your description

Any suggestion if it is impossible ton find arrowroot podwer in my country, please?

You're welcome!!
so does this replace normal washing my hir in the shower with normal shamppoo?
No this can be used to cut down on geese and oil in between washings.
What happens when it rains? Does the cocoa powder ruin your clothes? I’m trying to figure this out 🥺🥺
Is there some alternative to use arrurruz? It's not comercialize in my country
Cornstarch
@@ouroilyhouse Thank you!!!

Is there an alternative for air root power
Cornstarch

Latina, dark hair here, try adding some charcoal
cornstarch doesn't work the same, I've tried it and it was a fail for me.
Are you saying arrowroot powder?
Yes
Does flour work?
Not as well.
How long does it last?
good for a year in an airtight container
Does it cause hair fall?
I have never noticed that.
Subscribed. You are AWESOME.
Thank you so much!!!
What is the key ingredient please mention
arrowroot powder
Thank u so much
We’re do you live?
what about conditioner?
I have several recipes for that on my channel!
What root?
It is what absorbs the oil in the hair.
Oh no I couldn't understand what the powder root was. Is it arrowroot?
Alice Monroe Oh sorry! Yes arrowroot!
Can you add your recipes' closed caption. It is hard to understand the names of the products you are using.
Is there something besides cocoa powder that will work for light brown hair? I have a hard time with the scent. 😂
Cinnamon or nutmeg!
Lol, is suggest leaving out the cocoa powder..? Because flies love to land on your head with that stuff...! XD
