  • CHALLENGING TRADITIONS: Five-Point Calvinism, Sola Scriptura | Vishal Mangalwadi | Prakash Gantela
In this discussion, Dr Vishal Mangalwadi critiques the modern state of Christianity, particularly focusing on the decline of intellectual engagement and the retreat from nation-building into narrow theological debates and anti-intellectualism. He contrasts the vibrant legacy of figures like William Carey, who pioneered education and nation-building in India, with the modern seminary movement, which prioritizes individual salvation over cultural engagement.
The discussion delves into the misinterpretation of theological principles, such as Calvinism and the doctrine of "Sola Scriptura," and how these have been reduced to narrow, isolated focuses that neglect the broader mission of societal renewal. He also explains how early Christian contributions, like Carey’s role in shaping modern India and the founding of transformative institutions, have been sidelined in favor of a theology that prepares individuals for heaven while abandoning the responsibility to reform and reclaim cultural domains like education and governance.
Through historical analysis, the discussion highlights the church’s diminishing influence in critical areas of public life, attributing this to a lack of vision for making Christ’s enemies His footstool, as Scripture commands. It critiques Western Christianity’s retreat from intellectual leadership, emphasizing the need to recover the church’s mission to disciple nations and reengage with societal structures for the glory of God.
This video a compelling call for Christians to move beyond a limited, defeatist approach and reclaim their transformative legacy.

Here is a biblical rebuttal of the five points of Calvinism:
    1. Total Depravity:
While the Bible teaches that human beings are profoundly impacted by sin (Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:1-3), it also affirms that people retain the capacity to respond to God's grace. Verses like John 1:12 and Revelation 3:20 indicate that people have the ability to choose to receive Christ.
    2. Unconditional Election:
The Bible emphasizes God's sovereignty in election (Ephesians 1:3-6), but it also stresses human responsibility in responding to the gospel (2 Peter 3:9, 1 Timothy 2:3-4). Verses like John 3:16 and 1 Timothy 2:4 suggest God desires the salvation of all people, not just a predetermined elect.
    3. Limited Atonement:
Scripture clearly teaches that Christ's death was intended for the sins of the whole world, not just the elect (John 3:16-17, 1 John 2:2, 2 Corinthians 5:14-15). The Bible portrays Christ's sacrifice as universally available, not limited in scope.
    4. Irresistible Grace:
While God's grace is effectual in drawing people to salvation (John 6:44), the Bible also depicts people resisting and rejecting God's calls (Acts 7:51, Matthew 23:37). Salvation requires a willing human response, not just irresistible divine compulsion.
    5. Perseverance of the Saints:
The Bible teaches that genuine believers can fall away from the faith (Hebrews 6:4-6, 1 Timothy 1:19-20, 2 Timothy 2:17-18). Verses like 1 Corinthians 10:12 and 2 Peter 1:10 warn believers to be diligent in maintaining their faith, implying the possibility of apostasy.
In summary, while the five points of Calvinism highlight important biblical themes like human sinfulness and God's sovereignty, many Christians argue they go beyond what Scripture teaches by overstating the role of divine determinism and undermining genuine human responsibility in salvation. A more balanced, biblically-grounded view recognizes both God's sovereignty and human free will in the process of redemption.

Scripture saying that , God’s election and Man responses. Both are working together, Bible never expose how both are working together. But when we carefully examine, If God wants to save all of the people on this earth from Adam to the last person on this earth, He should send His gospel to every man. We know that without gospel no one can save, people now and before unreached. We know that Without gospel no one can save.
Bring all scripture together in one place, let the scripture speak.

Are comments replied on this channel? As discussed by the speaker, what is the difference between SOLA Sruptura and SOLO Scriptura? Secondly is even Sola Scriptura supported in Bible as understood by Luther?

I am still looking for someone to expose false understanding in Calvinism Biblically..
Most of the arguments are either about John Calvin or Calvinists..
    1. I am a Calvinist and I know very less about John Calvin.. I am not a follower of John Calvin either..
    2. Just because Christians did lot of wrong things, can we say Christianity is wrong? Isn’t it a fallacious argument..?
Calvinism as a label might confuse people.. But those who read about Calvinism (even if they don’t agree) will at least know that it’s nothing to do with John Calvin.. We can’t prove or disprove anything by quoting John Calvin or attacking Calvinists..
We need to quote scripture.. coz, Calvinism is about a doctrinal understanding of Salvation…
I have lot of respect for these two Godly men.. I love Prakash Anna and follow his teachings closely.. He has lot of influence on my worldview..
I know that this discussion is not an exposition on Calvinism but I feel the discussion doesn’t dig deep enough to justify the title or say that Calvinism is wrong..
My sincere apologies, if I have assumed anything that’s not there in the discussion..

If Christ died for all, Jesus said I pray for them I pray not for the world? For whom did Jesus interceed? If God wanted everyone to be saved then why not all come to the Knowledge of Saving faith?

Dear brother, I understand that you are refering to John 17:9 , a, prayer of Jesus just before leaving to mount Olive, where he was arrested by the roman soldiers. That is his last prayer for himself, his disciples and all the other believers also. Read John 17:20. Anybody who believes that Jesus is the saviour who came to save them, believe in his preachings, repent of their sins and accept him as his/her saviour, they will be saved. No doubt in it.

This discussion ignores the church fathers and their expositions for the first 600 years. Were the Christians at that time looking to education institutions or the church to establish the doctrine and theology? The text is not what had primacy with early Christians but the Church, education is more wide spread today because of paper, copying and printing, these are advance of the past 500 years not available in the first 500 years of Christianity.
This discussion is still from the lens of protestant reformations and teachings not early Christianity.
Early Christianity did use greek text but the philosophy exposited is not with the metaphysics of Plato and Aristotle.
One needs to read Cappadocian fathers, Cyril, Irenaeus, Ignatius, Athanasius... to understand the challenges to lay the foundations of Christian theology on logic, reason and substance to quell disputes with Arians, Gnostics, Monatism, Docetism ....
