Great discussion, I am an Indian Christian from the Caribbean. Your teachings are fascinating and deep I most certainly will be getting your books. God bless you
For references please read Dr. Vishal Mangalwadi's books: •India the Grand Experiment •Missionary Conspiracy: Letters to a Post-modern Hindu •Truth and Transformation •The Book That Made Your World •Why Are We Backward? •The Quest for Freedom and Dignity and •Fascism: Modern and Postmodern (Authored by Prof. Gene Edward Veith and Introduction by Dr. Vishal Mangalwadi)
Good discussion, but please give references to the important points for further research to encourage younger students to study the 1847 revolt with this new perspective.
Eg. Simon, a tanner (a caste associated with cobblers) of Joppa with whom Simon whose surname was Peter who lodged by the sea, when sent by Cornelius, (the centurion of the Italian Regiment), must have had a precious fellowship, a tanner and a Jewish fisherman. Acts.9:43; 10:6,27,32.
This is an insightful observation about how the Gospel broke down social barriers in the early Christian church. Let me break down the significance of this interaction: 1. Social Barriers: - Simon the tanner worked with dead animal skins, which made him ritually unclean by Jewish standards - Tanners were generally looked down upon in ancient society due to their occupation - They typically lived on the outskirts of towns (note the text specifies "by the sea") due to the smell of their work - Peter, as a Jewish religious leader, would normally avoid such close contact 2. Breaking Conventions: - Peter not only visits but lodges with Simon the tanner - This shows early signs of the breaking down of Jewish ceremonial laws that would later be more fully revealed in Peter's vision of clean and unclean animals - The fact that Luke (the author of Acts) specifically mentions Simon's occupation suggests its significance 3. Gospel's Leveling Effect: - This interaction prefigures Peter's later encounter with Cornelius (a Gentile) - It demonstrates how Christian fellowship transcended: * Social status * Ritual cleanliness * Occupational barriers * Economic distinctions 4. Historical Context: - In ancient Jewish society, tanners had to live at least 50 cubits from town - The fact that Peter stayed "many days" (Acts 9:43) makes this even more remarkable This episode serves as a practical demonstration of the early church living out principles like "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free..." (Galatians 3:28). It's particularly meaningful that this occurs just before Peter's vision and the conversion of Cornelius, showing a progressive breaking down of social and religious barriers.
Sir Good evening. Sir as a Christian should i leave my caste? Because if keep my caste am i opposing the bible word all humans are equal? How should I consider caste ? As an socio economic difference or as an unequal dignity based on manudharma - like humans have different origin from head , body, legs of Hindu god's?
Vishal Mangalvadi spoke some interesting facts about Gandhi and his legacy. Before Christ, there was Buddha, Socrates, Plato were elevating society. We can go 200,000 years back, when the Home Sapiens roamed this earth. 8000 years back man invented agriculture, language, communal life and all that led to domestication of horses, cows, chickens and dogs. With the invention of iron, weapons, chariots allowed Yamnaya people spread their genes and Indo-European languages. This is all part of human evolution. This gentleman is ignoring all the facts and giving the credit to Christianity and ignoring all its shortcomings. Dr. Ambedkar studied Christianity, Islam, Vedic Brahmnism, Marxism and chose Buddhism to practice and the Buddhist values are better suited for social equality. Because of over population and extreme population, many poor Indians are converting to Christianity not because of faith, rather for food. 50 lakh highly educated Hindus are living in US, and only handful of people converted to Christianity. India is already suffered enough with Aryan, Muslim migration(invasion), now misguided people like this gentlemen think Christianity brings equality. It will only divided further the Indian society, instead of a two way fight, it will become a three way fight. Science is replacing religion in developed Christian countries, India should also think of Buddhism, which can coexist with science and bring unity and equality. India, please follow in Dr. Ambedkar footsteps and embrace Buddhism for the betterment and human equality! Madhu K. Reddy
Caste is inevitable for the simple reason that there will be inequality between individual in Hinduism the groups called themselves by a name called caste ..the groupism even within the caste also be there which will manifest during marriage alliance ..even religion takes a back step still castes will be there..inter caste in large scale also will not dent the caste system because their off springs will adopt one caste of their parents..so it is inevitable 😅😅😅😅
Rabindranath Thakur advocated against Nationalism read his book on Nationalism The Indian Constitution has neither defined Nationalism nor equated it with Raastriyata. Go for Union of States and Federalism. Donot confuse people.
