Wow, this is incredible. I played this game extensively as a kid and never beat it. The farthest I got was inside the technodrome when the rooms change color for the first time. The dam level was a pain too, but after playing it enough times, that was more of one of the easy stages. Mad props.

Thanks for the reply, im not going for a speedrun but just wanted to know as im always trying to save health by that stage and walking through all those holes drains what little health I have left. I managed to beat this game though for the first time just recently, after playing it for like 20+ years lol. But well done, and thanks your video helped quite a bit.
All of the tunnels in Area 4 have a number--even though you don't need to use them all, there are so many of them that you would have a tough time keeping track of where you were if they weren't numbered.

I'm guessing you already know this, but you could've saved time by intentionally falling in the water around 9:20 to get you back outside. Of course, that wouldn't look as cool as dominating the rest of the building like you did.

did the instruction manual mention what turtle was best at what? for example, in the infamous bomb disarming swimming stage, donatello was bit faster at disarming the bombs, given that he was the tech nerd of the bunch. what about the other turtles?
Being someone who played TMNT on the NES, and all the insanity included, I was always confused where the logic sat in the notion that being hit by a long stick was somehow more lethal than a sword.

I'm guessing you consider pausing the game during the Giant Mouser battle to keep the pearl vulnerable to be a cheat since you didn't do that. And here I didn't think it was possible to beat this under an hour. I guess that only applies to 8 year olds. Very impressive!
Shredder has a de-mutagen gun that this guy didn't even let him fire once. If you got hit by it you turned back into a regular turtle and it would start you at a checkpoint.
@Gtorockk all of my speedruns are done the same i hit the record button and play all the way through if i finish it cool if not then i make use of the reset button and try again lol...
That's because any turtle that has the scrolls is automatically the best turtle in that game. April O'Neill would've been the best character if you gave her 99 of those things.
now that's some advice i will definitely take this in mind if i decide to re-run this game when i get a Toshiba's RD-A1 HD DVD recorder with 1TB disk i'm really looking forward to it's release ;)
No. if you head over to Speed Demos Archive and check the speedrun of TMNT done by Spider-Waffle he also mentions that it is the biggest hindrance to speed run this game the technodrome randomly spawns in the sewers you can complete this game over ten times and chances are you will need to hit the reset button on the nintendo if you want a really good time hope that helps ;)
at 14:03 I was wonder if you would ever do the double-jump.. when it auto-jumps you after throwing the line at those pipes, you can often do a second jump at the top of the auto-jump.. just for fun =P
Isn't finding the Technodrome in Stage 5 based on the luck of the draw? Is there a technique in spotting which hole is the right one? Or were you just riding your luck there? :P
.... that's how to beat Shredder, I always thought that weapon was the only way to get past the corridor outside his room... used them in the wrong place. Could never beat him without game genie cheats.
As far as I know the only way to get something like that on The Nintendo Entertainment System would be a cheat device like the GameGenie which i should also note that is something i do not own or need good luck out there =)

I would always get so frustrated once I reached the turtle mobile I'd quit...kinda cool to see it played all the way through haha
