And the gun that metroid gives you when it dies notice the end of metroid fusion when you kill that samus clone i wonder where the inspiration came from 😏
I was introduced to the Metroid Series, with Fusion for the GBA and little bit Prime when I was really young. But Fusion I remember vividly. Anyways this is the hardest game I've ever played 🤣. So much to do so many hidden areas, for the first time in a while I had to use a walkthrough cuz I had no idea what to do. I never realized how easy games are today compared to this.
Just so you guys realize, over 20 minutes of this video was dedicated to the animation of picking up loot. Each time you picked something up it takes about 6 seconds of time. Add it up, it's insane.
@@Smooth_operator32 Yeah, kid, you play it 2-player by handing off the controller whenever you get some loot. 100 loot, 50 turns each, then 1 more turn for the first player to finish it.
I remember my mom taking me to Best Buy to buy me a video game for my 7th birthday. I chose this video game solely because of its front cover art looked cool and had no clue what the game was about. It took me 23 hrs to pass it for the very first time (I was 7 remember). 26 years later and having played it countless times and among thousands of other games I've played over the years, I still say this is the greatest game I have ever played.
I remember asking my Dad to buy this, largely because the box artwork looked amazing and it came in a huge box to fit in a really nice game guide. Had no idea what the game was really like before playing it but it was one of my favourite SNES games and certainly still one of my favourite games.
Awwww man, the music, the sounds, the look, the FEEL!!!! This makes me want to cry!😭I wish I can go back to this time of my life when everything seemed so much simpler! Thank you for posting this! I’ll come back to this when I need those childhood feelings
This game is a MASTERPIECE!, from the beginning till the end NO matter how new games and much improved graphics but this one has a special Mystic that make you love to play.
Even as an adult, I still find this game so frightening, from the songs and sounds to the scenery, and the fact that underneath that suit surprisingly lies a young beautiful girl on an unknown planet fighting monsters 2-50x her size with absolutely nobody to resort to. It really blows off your mind. Amazing game and developers.
I played this game with my nephews on the Super NES Mini and we loved it. The soundtracks, the power-ups and those bosses are hard to compare from the classic. I had the original Metroid game for the NES and it brought me alot of memories.
Best game ever!!! I still go back and play it ever 2-3 years. Just the whole setting, atmosphere, upgrades, sound effects, multi level/map exploration etc etc I could go on and on about how well made this game is but I'm sure those who played it agree 👍
It's so satisfying to watch this play through. I was 16 when this came out and I played incessantly. I used to do speedruns on this long before I knew there were other people who did the same
The perfect game. I remember playing this when I was 13 and I felt completely a part of that world. I simply couldn't put it down. My SNES was destroyed shortly after that in a house fire so I wasn't able to get a new one until a few years ago when the SNESmini came out. Tsunamis of memories rushed back. My 13 year old was playing GTA Online and was laughing at me playing this game. "Daaad, what the hell is thaaaaat?" "It's the beggining of games, you little.."
and if you hold "down" instead of just press it, it will charge up the balls, so the longer you ohld before releasing, the farther it will shoot the balls. fuck I miss this game
Honestly, when I first played this game, I was scared. The atmosphere really creeped me out, and I had a lot of "what is that?!" moments on my first playthrough. The developers were spot on with atmosphere. I wasn't the best at games when I was a kid, so my first playthrough took me 12 hours as I got a little lost from time to time. Still my favorite game to this day.
Oh, GOD, the sheer amount of time I played this game as a kid! I never could get 100%, but there was ONE Item I NEVER could get and that was the Spring Ball. My brother was able to get it, but he never showed me, and I never could find it. So, thank you for this! Also, I love watching someone fail. Not in a bad way or anything! It's better to watch an actual PERSON play, than someone using a Mod to basically play for them (talking about that TAS Mod). The "Human Factor" always makes things better! Trust me, I died NUMEROUS TIMES playing this because of screw ups! Just watching this guy (or girl) struggle at the same places I did back when makes me feel better, because it's just fun to watch, and makes me go "Yup! The number of times I kept failing in that same, damn spot because my timing was off!" Thank you for posting this vid of one of the greatest games ever created, and STILL the best game in the "Metroid" series!
Maximum Borkdrive I wouldn't say they are pointless, *if* "Metroid 5" comes out. Otherwise, they were the downfall of Metroid as it lead to the creation of Other M, which wasn't the best playing game in the world
Bk. Well that's your opinion. Even if it is, it deserves it's praises more than any other games that are more overrated than Super & Prime. Like for example, Ocarina of Time, Sonic Adventure 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Final Fantasy 7, The Last of Us, Skyrim, Mega Man 2 & Pokemon: Red, Blue & Yellow.
Damn this game is beautiful. The scaling, the rotation, its all natural. Mode 7 was way ahead of it's time. Really makes me sad that i was born in 2004, 10 years after this game was realeased, so i missed out on some of Nintendo's (and Sega's) best games they ever made. These games and consoles have so much more character than the current generation.
This game has such a special place in my heart. It was a big part of my childhood. My family didn’t have much but we would all sit around the tv and watch my Dad play the game, and our Mum would help him navigate through each part. Then once my brothers and I were older we would get to play the game ourselves. Just hearing the music in the intro was like remember an old friend. Thank you Nintendo!!! 🫶🏼
I still remember the first time I played that game. It was impressive a game with so much plot and suspense. Me and my cousin got hooked to understand that whole universe. This game is certainly one of the best ever, because it has aged very well. I put Demon's Crest on the same level.
i cant believe i sat through that for three hours but it was a great trip down memory lane. as a teen in the early 90's this game was nothing short of epic!!!!!!!!
Randy Washington i know. lost my snes and all my games as a kid. house fire. but still thats what roms and emulators are for and im sure a local game store will have one if you look. might be expensive but there is also amazon.
too true. i sat there and played it a bit earlier after reading that comment and posting. i miss my snes. all my shit. but the fact remains that people and places still sell them mostly at reasonable prices. if you want it unused you might pay a pretty penny. but mostly alot of people are reasonable.
Matt Way I sold mine when I was saving money for the N64. Recently bought a used SNES off amazon (in very good shape) for only 65 euros though. Made me feel like a little kid again.
Metroid was the first game that really made me think. With all the shooting jumpin and badassery, it's really just one huge masterpiece puzzle. Love this game always
I'm as old as the game, a friend and I played it as kids on an old Super Nintendo. The moment I heard the intro sounds, it instantly sent me on a nostagia trip. Good memories...
Born in 1990. This was the first video game I ever put hands on. My older cousin gave me and my older brother his SNES and bought us Super Metroid. This was this first cartridge we dropped in. It's crazy, I remember exactly who I was with, where we were all sitting and everyone's reaction as we played through. Five years old and a pledged gamer for life. Here I am today finishing Dread. Cant wait to see what's next. Good times.
This is...my favorite game of all time...I love everything about it I like the gameplay The graphic is really good for the snes The bosses and the enemies are really cool and creative I remember all the item locations But the Atmosphere and the music are the best part about it... I just love this game!
Great run…I hate to be “that” guy but there was one small detail you missed. Towards the end during the final countdown, you can go back into the very first room where you got the bomb and you’ll see the animals that helped you during the game. The three little creatures that showed you the wall jump and that bird with speed. Then when you go back to your ship, they’ll be waiting for you and you basically rescue them. I know it sounds crazy, but I saw it on another playthrough and my jaw dropped. Other than that, awesome run.
I don't know about anyone else...but when I saw the baby die AGAIN. I STILL felt just as heart broken and wanting to cry like the first time... Also Super Metroid has be the best soundtrack ever made from all Metroid games💘
I tried playing through this game with the bare minimum amount of items (purposely making myself weaker to make the game harder). I ended up getting stuck at the last area because I didn't have enough missiles to kill the red vial things. True story.
Lmao guys, you could have just blown up what you could. And go back to the middle recharge station and hit again. Then recharge one last time to fight Mother Brain.
In the 1990's as a kid I only had two games, the game that came with the SNES (Super Mario World) and Super Metroid, both games were so immersive and "long", you have to remember that in the 90's games were very expensive, $60, $60 translates to $124 in today's money, so owning another game other than Super Mario World was huge, back then you rented games from small mom and pop video rental places (or Blockbuster, but Blockbuster was expensive to rent, $5 for 4 days or so, I forget) who would have a dozen games to rent for $1.50 for 24 hours. I would rent all kinds of games, Madden, Phalanx, Top Gear 3000, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat 1-3, as soon as I rented Super Metroid I knew it was special, but I still couldn't afford it, as soon as I had a chance to buy a game I did and it was Super Metroid 👍 Super Metroid is probably the best game of the 16 bit era.
I’m playing this right now LOL. Just finished killing Phantoon, the electricity-hogging bastard. I don’t care how old this game is but every few years I’ll play it again for nostalgia
Kaze Kiri Meh it super repetitive backgrounds, hardly any parallax scrolling, simple block foreground slow methodical music, etc. This game bores the hell out of me (besides the few boss battles).
@@hornynigga3150 I wrote this a long time ago, but no, the game has an atmosphere that's super epic. It was a really great game in it's time, won every award, and it's still epic. I really love the storyline. They don't make games or write stories like this anymore in my experience....
Whoever you are, I'm happy you uploaded this. I love this game. I'm old now. Don't have time to play it anymore. But I can find a little time to watch.
Noah Mamet Meh it super repetitive backgrounds, hardly any parallax scrolling, simple block foreground slow methodical music, etc. This game bores the hell out of me (besides the few boss battles). Best game ever No. Most overrated game Yes
Here’s my attempt at scripting it between the sequences with Ridley, her Metroid, and Mother Brain. 3:58 - 4:20: Give that back you flying space fiend! You snatched my metroid and now I will find you and I will destroy you! 2:40:10: Ridley! We meet once again! Because of you taking my metroid away from me, this is where I must end you after coming all this way towards the depths of Norfair! Now prepare to be obliterated! 2:42:10: It’s gone! It must have survived and escaped elsewhere. Better keep searching. I know. Now that’ve killed all the 4 main bosses, their statues can open up to Tourian where Mother Brain is at. It’s no doubt my metroid is down there. 3:03:24: Hey! There you are! Wow you got so big and- - -Whoa! What are you doing!? It’s me! It’s me! STOP IT! STOP IT AT ONCE! YOUR DRAINING ME OUT! (Metroid realizes, gets apologetic, and flies away in sham) Wait! Come back! It’s okay! I know how alert you can be! Shoot. Better go see where it went. 3:05:47: Mother Brain! How did you get planted back in there after I destroyed you, previously!? Well I must do it again I suppose. 3:06:25: WHAT IS THIS MONSTROUS ABOMINATION YOU BECOME!? YOU WERE JUST A LONE BRAIN! 3:07:10: WHY! WON’T! YOU! DIE! 3:07:16: AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! 3:07:40: In so much pain...I’m very weak... I’m so doomed... 3:07:48 - 3:07:18: (Metroid storms in to attack Mother Brain) Whaaat? My metroid is saving me now? That’s it... Keep trying to weaken her...Oh thank you so much...Please replenish me... 3:07:35: She’s back up! Hurry up! 3:08:55: NOOOOO! You killed this precious creature of mine! (Metroid falls on Samus) LOOK WHO’S POWERFUL NOW, HUH!? I’M ABOUT TO OWN YOU HARD THIS TIME! 3:09:30 - 3:09:45: Phew! I destroyed this terrifying beast with the most powerful beam that my precious metroid has sacrificed and left for me to defeat her for good! I successfully avenged it. Whoa! I gotta get the hell out of here! This entire planet is going to explode!
My nephew borrowed my copy of this game and never gave it back. It was the ONLY game I LOVED. I was looking for a replacement copy and getting HIGHLY disappointed because it now cost anywhere from $80 - $250. I came across this video and it helped my grief about not having the game a LITTLE bit, but it also just made me miss it even more. I got to the point when I played it that I was also able to get 100% of the items and beat it in under 3 hours, just like you did in this video. I didn't watch the whole thing, just the last 10 minutes or so, but thank you for letting me, at least, relive my favorite game one more time. I'll never get to play it again, but at least I got to see the ending again...
It's on the SNES classic - those aren't generally north of $80, work on modern TVs via HDMI and you get 20+ other titles to play. I never played as a kid, so enjoying it now on the classic is really cool.
@@slickriven Only a couple of problems...lol First, I only play 3 of those games and I still have the cartridges for the other two games. I DO also still have my console. Second, despite that first fact, I did still look into them. Tried to price them out and the cheapest I could find it was around $125 and that had a $10 shipping charge. The cheapest on Amazon was $180 and that's just for a renewed one. Walmarts $240 and Ebay has them for $125 to $200. Out of curiosity, where'd you find the $80 pricing? Thanks anyway though. Despite the fact that'd I'd LOVE to be able to play the game, and even try a few of the others it comes with, I'm disabled on live off disability pay. Buying one would mean going without something I actually need for a couple of months. However, I really DO appreciate you letting me know about them. It's good to know that there's a way for others who, either never had the chance, or those who just want to revisit their past, to play the games that brought me so much joy as I was growing up. I'm glad that people have that option! :)
@@eiyiyi apologies, I temporarily forgot that in 2020, gaming prices are way up. I got my SNES classic new when it released for $80, but they have gone up in price. I think it's still a decent option since it has several great games to play, but yeah isn't as cheap currently.
Man, I remember getting this game when it was released. I was so impressed with all of the features this game had. The atmosphere of the game and just the game dynamics still hold up today. Game is a masterpiece.
When I first played this game and saw Ridely literally come flying towards the screen it made me jump. Then I was cheering how fucking cool that scene was. Started the game over three or four times just to see it again. This game was LEGENDARY!!
I was born in 93 and this was one of the few games my uncles had on the Super Nintendo. I don’t think any other game had this vibe, and the difficulty was quite tough as a youngin!
I remember getting like 96% or about and using x-ray in the entire game 10 times never finding the last 4% -.-, and touching the cartridge with the console on accidentally and wiping the save.
I'm glad this exists for nostalgia reasons, as a little kid, I think 10 when this came out, it took me several days to several weeks and ultimately a whole Summer to figure out the hidden places and how to approach these bad guys strategically.
Just finished watching the whole video. I have never played this game. But I’ve gotten so much pleasure just watching this masterpiece, graphics, all cool diverse weaponry, the atmosphere and one of the best music in video game history
Will just mention that by the time you got up to Kraid's lair through bomb jumping you probably could have gone down to Norfair, grabbed the High Jump Boots and gotten back up to Kraid's Lair entrance again.
i went down there, picked up the energy tank and the ironic this is that i forgot that there were hidden entrances in this game so i forgot to pick up the boots...
Honestly, thank you so much, i had completed a little over half the game, and i knew i was missing crucial shit, and you filled in those blanks so quickly i cannot stress how much more enjoyable the game became once i started filling in those gaps and found little things i would have otherwise overlooked
Please like & subscribe for more videos! Thank you!

@@marmusa6012 haha I personally thought fusion bosses were way harder. This one does have more hidden areas though.
@@thedinosaur2777 well tbh i was able to fusion im still stuck on Ridleys guards on this one lmfao
able to beat*
Just so you guys realize, over 20 minutes of this video was dedicated to the animation of picking up loot. Each time you picked something up it takes about 6 seconds of time. Add it up, it's insane.
I could listen to that loot sound all day tho I really feel as is I have aqquired something substantial when I hear that sound.
Ah yes, the substantial power-up of 5 more missiles
Yeah, that's when you pass the controller to your buddy in the _2-player mode_ .
@@theonewiththeeyeoftruth884 bitch wat??
@@Smooth_operator32
Yeah, kid, you play it 2-player by handing off the controller whenever you get some loot.
I love how she runs ridiculously fast. Like she’s constantly filled with rage goin’:
“FASTER FASTER KILL EVERYTHING”
the doomslayer be proud
She, quake guy and doomguy have a bit in common. Badass supersoldiers running at inhuman speeds
Best ending? You didn't save the animals!
nice
I was thinking the same thing. Not true 100% and not best ending without saving the animals.
delete, start over, save animals
hahaha funny
Thank you for saving me a watch. Unforgivable
One word for this game. MASTERPIECE!
I still have my snes and my super metroid cartridge (along with all three donkey kongs and super mario world)
Even as an adult, I still find this game so frightening, from the songs and sounds to the scenery, and the fact that underneath that suit surprisingly lies a young beautiful girl on an unknown planet fighting monsters 2-50x her size with absolutely nobody to resort to. It really blows off your mind. Amazing game and developers.
I think you take the game a little to seriously...
What a fruit 🤣
I played this game with my nephews on the Super NES Mini and we loved it. The soundtracks, the power-ups and those bosses are hard to compare from the classic. I had the original Metroid game for the NES and it brought me alot of memories.
Best game ever!!! I still go back and play it ever 2-3 years. Just the whole setting, atmosphere, upgrades, sound effects, multi level/map exploration etc etc I could go on and on about how well made this game is but I'm sure those who played it agree 👍
james le half life 2 best game in the world
@@lampham5525 wrong bud
Agreed 100%
The music on this game is amazing.
It's so satisfying to watch this play through. I was 16 when this came out and I played incessantly. I used to do speedruns on this long before I knew there were other people who did the same
That was one of the best intros to any game I've ever seen
The perfect game. I remember playing this when I was 13 and I felt completely a part of that world. I simply couldn't put it down. My SNES was destroyed shortly after that in a house fire so I wasn't able to get a new one until a few years ago when the SNESmini came out. Tsunamis of memories rushed back. My 13 year old was playing GTA Online and was laughing at me playing this game. "Daaad, what the hell is thaaaaat?" "It's the beggining of games, you little.."
i just discovered something like 2 seconds ago. when you charge your beam and go into a ball i spurts out a crap load of bombs.
and if you hold "down" instead of just press it, it will charge up the balls, so the longer you ohld before releasing, the farther it will shoot the balls.
fuck I miss this game
+sprflyenya emulators
sprflyenya thanks for the tip
What’s up with making the ball jump
yea I actually had to read about it before I found out lol
Honestly, when I first played this game, I was scared. The atmosphere really creeped me out, and I had a lot of "what is that?!" moments on my first playthrough. The developers were spot on with atmosphere. I wasn't the best at games when I was a kid, so my first playthrough took me 12 hours as I got a little lost from time to time. Still my favorite game to this day.
Im with you mah man. My playthrough was about 10 hrs too lol.
I was 12 and absolutely loved this game.
Your first playthrough took 12 hours? Lol. Took me two weeks
This game seriously hasn't aged.
It holds up just as much today as during the mid-90s.
The greatest Metroid game
No, it is not. Fusion is better. SuperMetroid has great ambient music, but this game is to criptic. And control sux
WellDoneTurner Fusion is good if you like having no exploration, freedom, or you just enjoy having to scroll through pointless walls of text.
Maximum Borkdrive I wouldn't say they are pointless, *if* "Metroid 5" comes out. Otherwise, they were the downfall of Metroid as it lead to the creation of Other M, which wasn't the best playing game in the world
It's definitely one of the greatest Metroid games ever made. Along with Metroid Prime 1.
Who’s here because of the SNES games launch on Nintendo Switch.
lol me
yep.
Replaying it now about to hit up Zelda link to the past also
Same. I am kinda upset rn because I accidentally hit the reload save instead of create save after 5 hours of gameplay
I started rewinding and basically cant stop rewinding for the smallest crap
Damn this game is beautiful. The scaling, the rotation, its all natural. Mode 7 was way ahead of it's time. Really makes me sad that i was born in 2004, 10 years after this game was realeased, so i missed out on some of Nintendo's (and Sega's) best games they ever made. These games and consoles have so much more character than the current generation.
Watched the whole thing and relived my childhood. Amazing thing is, my 6 yr old kid enjoyed this same as I did!
lol whole time i was thinking..."god i can't wait till this guy gets the space jump."
Recently got into this game for the very first time, and I can safely say I missed out on so much. This game is outstanding.
I love this game. I remember when I beat it. A couple of times ever since then I was hooked
Thank you for allowing me to relive this masterpiece.
Sucks that i will never get that feeling back, putting the cartridge in smh so nostalgic.
Randy Washington i know. lost my snes and all my games as a kid. house fire. but still thats what roms and emulators are for and im sure a local game store will have one if you look. might be expensive but there is also amazon.
Matt Way i understand that but that feeling you got as a kid while playing will never return. And that sucks on all levels.
too true. i sat there and played it a bit earlier after reading that comment and posting. i miss my snes. all my shit. but the fact remains that people and places still sell them mostly at reasonable prices. if you want it unused you might pay a pretty penny. but mostly alot of people are reasonable.
Matt Way ill look into that
Matt Way I sold mine when I was saving money for the N64. Recently bought a used SNES off amazon (in very good shape) for only 65 euros though. Made me feel like a little kid again.
Good memories playing snes games. It was so much better than current area video games. These were quality games. good times.
+Sam Choi I agree with you along with the Nintendo 64 and the NES!
Tho the best game I've played from the modern era is Super Mario Galaxy

And Mega Man x
I did that last night, actually, till about 230 AM.
I'm as old as the game, a friend and I played it as kids on an old Super Nintendo. The moment I heard the intro sounds, it instantly sent me on a nostagia trip. Good memories...
watching this in 2020 and STILL LOVE THIS GAME
Born in 1990. This was the first video game I ever put hands on. My older cousin gave me and my older brother his SNES and bought us Super Metroid. This was this first cartridge we dropped in. It's crazy, I remember exactly who I was with, where we were all sitting and everyone's reaction as we played through. Five years old and a pledged gamer for life.
Here I am today finishing Dread.
Cant wait to see what's next. Good times.
This is...my favorite game of all time...I love everything about it
I like the gameplay
The graphic is really good for the snes
The bosses and the enemies are really cool and creative
I remember all the item locations
But the Atmosphere and the music are the best part about it...
I just love this game!
I re-discovered this game after purchasing a super nintendo mini. And I fell in love all over again. What an absolute masterpiece.
One of my favorite games of all time. This and, Luigi's mansion on the Nintendo Gamecube.
Its a shame I owned a sega and missed out on this when it was originally released. I cant imagine the feels people had...
1:04 Discount theme from "The Terminator (1984)".
I tried playing through this game with the bare minimum amount of items (purposely making myself weaker to make the game harder). I ended up getting stuck at the last area because I didn't have enough missiles to kill the red vial things. True story.
same here lol it frustrated me
Lmao guys, you could have just blown up what you could.
I would rent all kinds of games, Madden, Phalanx, Top Gear 3000, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat 1-3, as soon as I rented Super Metroid I knew it was special, but I still couldn't afford it, as soon as I had a chance to buy a game I did and it was Super Metroid 👍
Super Metroid is probably the best game of the 16 bit era.
Major flashbacks watching this. I was so immersed in this game. Awesome.
I’m playing this right now LOL. Just finished killing Phantoon, the electricity-hogging bastard. I don’t care how old this game is but every few years I’ll play it again for nostalgia
Best game ever! There has never been a game made so perfect.

But at least she shows it!
Didn't need to rely on TH-cam to beat this game as I gradually figured it out over the years and glad I can still play it as I got the classic SNES.

I remember being stuck at the second Ridley fight for ages. I kept running out of bombs and missiles lol
On my 36th birthday this really brings me back to the 90's THANK YOU!!!! This video is all i need too!!!
@@slickriven Only a couple of problems...lol
First, I only play 3 of those games and I still have the cartridges for the other two games.

+Gökhan Dökmetaş Well, the series was inspired by the Alien films. Not to mention the theme to Super Metroid kinda sounds like the Terminator theme.
+Andres Acosta and also, the badass stargate, unless my movie references is off, then i agree with aliens and terminator references

This really is a fantastic game. Makes my top five of all time list for sure.
