    I make this, but I put a layer of pudding/custard between the angel food cake & the fruit. I see no problem w/using 'storebrought' cake, instant pudding & whipped topping--especially when you're in a hurry. The results are terrific & sometimes you can use the lid from the angel food cake for a trifle bowl. It's great for a potluck, you don't have to worry about your bowl.

    I hate cool whip. Could I use whipped heavy cream instead?

      I haven't tried whipped heavy cream, but I don't see why not! I'd make it a little stiffer than traditional whipped cream. Please let me know if you try it!

      Yes! I prefer making my whip cream. And I don't bother baking my sponge cake or whatever cake I use. It's too much work! I use store bought and I prefer to make it, using sponge cake. It doesn't get too soggy. And she didn't use any custard. I definitely like using custard as well. I just actually use, the instant vanilla pudding. And add just a little sour cream, to break the sweetness. It comes out delicious and everyone always wants more. 😄

    Can I use frozen fruit?

    • @weddingsmadeez
      @weddingsmadeez  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! I have never used frozen fruit for a trifle and recommend fresh if possible. If you are planning to try frozen and thaw the fruit first, I'd recommend doing so over a colander so that the excess liquid drains. Something else to try would be using plain or vanilla yogurt in place of the whipped cream so you have a stronger barrier on top of the cake layer. Or, eliminate the fruit layer and make a smoothie with yogurt and frozen fruit. You could alternate cake and smoothie layers!

      @@weddingsmadeez thank you so much for very thorough answer. I appreciate it! Maybe I could use a white chocolate mousse with whipped cream instead of the plain whipped cream 🧐

    Angel cake is a bad option.
