Incredible technology here, I'm thinking especially MND/ALS patients. Speech & Language medical professionals should all be made aware of these features. Great video
Hope this doesn't sound too bad Tom. I have watched many videos and tried a few tips along the way some useful, some not for me. But today .... I feel stupid as i never knew about Magnifier. It is brilliant !!! the number of times i have taken a pic and zoomed in just to read the small text, this is a great tip so thank you !!!
Doesn't sound bad at all, thanks for sharing! I love when a tip really resonates with someone, especially when it's something that can have a positive impact on their life. I'm always amazed at how many people don't realise just how much their iPhones can do to help them in this way.
In the spoken content section, you could also enable a button that appears on your phone screen that you can adjust the opacity, and with that you can get the “speak all“ function, as well as the ability to have Siri read a specific paragraph or phrase. That is another option as well.
I think you did a great job introducing the assistive features of the iPhone. I am surprised you didn’t mention the voiceover function, which allows a totally blind person to use everything on their iPhone.
I couldn’t manage without Magifier and I have it in my control panel for easy access it’s great to be able to zoom into text. Clicking the main button takes a static image that can be used even if you move around and can be zoomed further if needed. Plus it’s far better than having to take unnecessary photos.
I use Voice Control for hands free access to apps when driving, and specifically navigation apps. This means basic controls such as “swipe down” and “zoom in” are actioned immediately without any manual interaction. If the Overlay submenu is set to Item Numbers then any switch on the screen can be activated by just speaking the number shown alongside it - ie returning to your current position or going to the menu selection etc etc. Works a treat but now have to find a way for a B/T microphone to activate the system from inside a motorcycle helmet! Any ideas out there?
I noticed in the section where you are creating a personal voice you were given the choice of US English or Mandarin Chinese. That’s exactly the same as on my phone. I thought I was given those choices because I had English and Mandarin set up in the languages section of my settings, although I use UK English. My questions are can it be set to UK English? Does it really matter anyway because I’m obviously going to speak with a UK accent even if it’s set to US English! And do you have Mandarin set up as an option on your phone as well, or does everybody get that choice whether they speak Chinese or not?😂
I tried setting up the eye control feature and then was unable to open my phone! When I did get the phone to open, it made me two the eye scan twice more! It sounds like a good feature, but I think this one needs a more in depth tutorial.
I want to share a real world use for voice control. If you have a rower or exercise bike you example concept2 erg then use the phone cradle leaving it in the cradle with voice control on you can learn the commands or choose the numbers on the screen to select the button to tap. I have a shortcut that’s linked to an nfc tag on the phone cradle that once tapped turns on voice control and opens the concept 2 erg app. I have another nfc on the other side of the cradle that at the end of workout turns off voice control and closes app while also setting the fan to turn off after 3 minutes 😊. I’ve used voice control for years on my rower and it’s great and saves you trying to reach for your phone on the cradle if you need to do something. I could incorporate the vocal shortcut to trigger it as well
Thank you for these accessibility hacks. I enjoy using the flash for incoming texts and calls. Question: does enabling these hacks impact battery life?
Anything that requires a part of your phone to work extra hard (ie; microphone always on, or for the CPU to be doing a lot of processing work for things like auto captions, eye control, etc.) can use up more battery than having it disabled. Apple does a lot of testing to keep these things both functional and avoid them becoming power drains. My advice would be to try the ones that you like, and if you find that any of them are really hammering your battery, you'll be able to weigh up the pros and cons of keeping it switched on.
@ thank you for the response, and again for the video. I think people don’t even think of the usefulness of the accessibility features if they don’t have a specific disability but this video proves the viability of these features. Well done.
Just got version 18.. how do I turn off recording telephone calls .. I find it too invasive and kind of really not needed …love you channel… it helps me understand this device I’ve had since the iPhone 1
No need to turn it off, it's not recording unless you manually push the button on each phone call. If you don't wish for calls to be recorded, just don't hit the record button whilst on a call.
Doesn’t happen for my I tested it out multiple times with my friends I made em say hey siri my phone didn’t react right after that I say it and it listens
When I try to set up my personal voice, I get a message that it wants to use 233 MB of information and then it prompts me to either pick up Wi-Fi setting or cancel. Either choice kicks me back never allowing me to start the process any thoughts
hi can you make a video of how to see a full screen banner caller id that someone else assigned as a full screen photo how do you see that full screen photo on that call that the other person assigned in contacts
why is their no SMS toggle switch anymore? Trying to text my daughter with and android and all videos I watch say to make sure its toggled on but it disappeared with 18.1.. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP
I created a shortcut to take one picture, and then made a vocal shortcut to activate it. I hear the shutter sound, but as far as I can tell no picture actually results. Any ideas?
I started again and this time I noticed a search bar at the bottom of the screen. At this point I could add an action to save to photo library. That solved it.
If you're referring to the PDF on BuyMeACoffee, there was an error with the way the product was setup. This has now been resolved, and if you try again, it will work.

Great tips. I've been using Magnifier for a good while now. IIRC, I was turned on to it from one of your previous videos. Keep them coming. Thanks.

Wonderful, thanks a stack , will try them out ❤❤❤🎉🎉

This guy is the best! He makes this easy to understand while showing you how to do it 👏🏽👏🏽
I love your content. I have learned so much. 😀👍🏻
Crikey. I didn't know about any of these. Cheers!
I didn't know about Magnifier. I will use it a lot. Thanks!

I think this has been the most useful collection of tips I've heard from you! Many thanks!
8:26 I get a door knock alert every time I make an espresso and bang the coffee puck out of the portafilter :)
As a fellow coffee nerd, I love this 😂
Les meilleurs explications de comment utiliser son iPhone ! Merci
Truth is we only on average use only 20-30% of all iOS gimmicks under the hood. Good tips

Do you have the Wallpaper in the background ? Of that City
I love using Assistive touch.
This is INCREDIBLE hard when your hand moves. Amazing tech

Honestly, what fun!
Thanks for the listen to voice commands👍
I am definitely going to use some of these. Vocal shortcuts seems to be very useful, especially in conjunction with shortcuts.

Holy shit, the eye tracking works way better than I expected.
Incredible = unbelievable. Incredible ≠ advantageous
Very informative , thank you 🤗👍🏼

THANKS PROPER FOR THE TIPS💚💚💚
You really are a treasure.
Vocal shortcuts rocks.

Can you make listen to voice command on apple Watch 11.1 ?
Everytime someone says Siri my device goes off when is Apple going to train Siri to only respond to my voice
Have never happened to me 🤔
Doesn’t happen for my I tested it out multiple times with my friends I made em say hey siri my phone didn’t react right after that I say it and it listens
Siri on my iPhone does not respond to anyone’s voice but my own. This is by design. Maybe retrain it.
@ how
If you say Siri and then someone proceeded to talk Siri will do wtvr they ask that’s the only problem I get
I tried eye tracking. Super buggy doesn’t work well at all
When I try to set up my personal voice, I get a message that it wants to use 233 MB of information and then it prompts me to either pick up Wi-Fi setting or cancel. Either choice kicks me back never allowing me to start the process any thoughts
you are awesome
What is notification tracking in settings?

Hello, I have a business question for you, how can i get in contact with you.
I’m represented by Bottle Rocket Management, and you can find their contact details on their website.
I get nothing as I am in mainland Europe. Damn, maybe next year hey???😮

Discovered that the shortcut only appears to work, but no actual photo is saved.
Tom, can you make a tutorial about this photo vocal shortcut please?
I started again and this time I noticed a search bar at the bottom of the screen. At this point I could add an action to save to photo library. That solved it.
how do you delete "audio shortcut"
The link to download never showed up tried three times.

I can’t do the personal voice when I go into it it’s asking to download it then takes me to wifi and does nothing
Same here
is it the Real Tom's voice or is it memorex?
Crikey, there's a brand name I've not heard for a while...
What r
All very clever, but just a bit gimmicky in my view. Can’t see a real need for any of them, except magnifier.
Proper job Tom🇦🇺🦘👍🏼
