Thought so mate ....I hope to Hill- Climb mine once its all mechanically sound. ....its 147 k and Its never had the Supercharger Serviced .... I tried to trade it in for a Type R Last month...it would have put me 5k out if they offered me £3000 Based on the spends I've had in the last 4 years on the car ....they offered me £900 and its near to mint and mostly original .... Fuck That ..its a keeper.. Cheers Mate , 200Kid.
I own a 2014 6spd turbo Cooper S (its past jcw spec at this point and has jcw wing and both bumpers ) and i own a mild track built 2004 r53 and ill take my supercharger over my turbo any day
Goodwood is still there for you! Highly recommend it as a track with excellent staff, but the prices these days are a bit crazy. It’s my local. My interior is 100% stock because I’d rather spend the time and money on tyres and brakes 😉 My e46 has a racier steering wheel though.
Just remove the foam wadding from the pipe connecting the air filter box to the cabin/bulkhead. That’s on my JCW anyway, but assume it’s the same for any r53
@@WalshEBoY nope, the cabin filter and the inlet sound pipe are different. BMW actually designed a special duct to pipe inlet noise into the cabin, which has some foam in it to muffle it slightly
Mines a John Cooper Works edition, but the sound mostly comes from the air box through the cabin by removing the sound dampeners. It’s a quick a free modification, I wouldn’t bother with pulleys until everything else like brakes and suspension are upgraded because that’s where the fun and lap times are.
@@Trackdayist mine is fully upgraded with pulley reduction, Borla header back exhaust, JCW suspension and quite a few other bits. But I’d really like to do the mod you mentioned, I hadn’t heard about it until now. Very nice R53 btw.
The turbo cars have a reputation, but I think that these cars were made in such high numbers that you’d always find issues if you search for them! Regular oil changes and filters and you’ll be fine.
Mines a John cooper works 210, so yes it’d be a smaller pulley than standard. Most of the noise difference though is in the intake manifold and cabin ‘noise generator’ tube. Worth a Google!
That instant boost. So satisfying¡!
Only seeing your video now but man, really nicely done🙃 love the supercharger sound🤗
Nice drive and cool overlays. Would be good to do Goodwood some day (just getting started with track days myself this year).
"GO ON JOCKEY " !...thats impressive ...hope you drove it home after!

Sounds great. Gutted I never got to drive Goodwood. Your pre facelift steering wheel upsets me 🥲

What mods have you done to your car to get the supercharger to sound that loud?
Just remove the foam wadding from the pipe connecting the air filter box to the cabin/bulkhead. That’s on my JCW anyway, but assume it’s the same for any r53
Sounds like he has removed his cabin filter, but you guy tons of shit in your eyes doing that and dust and debris flying around the car.
@@WalshEBoY nope, the cabin filter and the inlet sound pipe are different. BMW actually designed a special duct to pipe inlet noise into the cabin, which has some foam in it to muffle it slightly
When you passed him at the straight away I was like >:)
Is there a SC pulley reduction that makes it whine so loud? My R53 whines but not nearly as audible. The louder the better though lol.

@@Trackdayist are you talking about removing the insulation on the underside of the hood?
@@exec2968 it’s at the back of the air box on a JCW, like a plastic tube that contains a sponge leading into the cabin

I have a 2012 mini countryman cooper s r-18.
Is that the one with the dodgy engine ? ?

That sounds so cute lol
How the hell are you reaching 28lbs of boost with the sc, tell me your secrets
That’s absolute pressure (above vacuum). Relative is 14psi, so pretty normal for a cooper S
my supercharger isnt that loud. smaller pully? mines an 04 cooper s

What make is your helmet?
Bell
Is the psi gauge correct?
Not sure, but its probably absolute pressure not relative. So about 14psi boost above atmospheric?
That can't right. PSI with 17% should be 17-19 max...
Hi Mike, What sort of mods are you running on your R53? I took mine there on the 20th for the full day and I think we were similar time wise.
benjamin leach Porsche front brakes, slick tyres. Stock engine and stock suspension. You?
@@Trackdayist man, nice mini. i lost my r56 cooper s a few weeks back, but yours looks real good (and fast)
28 psi 😳
Absolute boost not relative. (14psi relative) it’s a standard JCW 210 kit
@@Trackdayist ☹️ relative would have been phenomenal
What kind of engine makes that kind of sound ?
It's a Supercharger (all the R53 Minis have them)
28psi🤔🤔👍
Absolute not relative! So only about 14psi of ‘boost’
