      Thanks for watching! Please find below the answers to your questions -
      1. Not exactly; your current residential account will be closed; so you either sell or transfer the shares to someone's else Zerodha account, may be family and then those can be transferred back to Zerodha NRI account.
      2. Investments from other broker can also be transferred to Zerodha & process is here - support.zerodha.com/category/your-zerodha-account/transfer-of-shares-and-conversion-of-shares/transfer-securities/articles/how-do-i-transfer-shares-from-another-demat-account-to-my-zerodha-demat

    sir, Do I need to Open NRI account before leaving India or After reaching in foreign country? As somewhere you said that we need to give foreign country address so to me it seems that I can open nri demat account after reaching foreign country.
    Till the time NRI demat account not open , Can i use my existing demat account to sell/buy shares if I am outside India? Will it consider as FEMA act violation?

    • @WisdomExclusive
      @WisdomExclusive  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello Vipin, please note that you only become NRI when you spend more than 182 days outside of India. This means that you will only be considered as NRI after 6 months after leaving India. Till then you don't have to do anything. However, after 6 months you should convert all your bank accounts, declaration in income tax and if you wish to use Zerodha you should close your Indian account & open new NRI account as suggested in video. As of now, this is the only way to open NRI Zerodha account i.e. Converting your resident bank account to NRO/NRE account, closing the Indian Zerodha account and then re-open new NRI Zerodha account. Please let me know in case of any other query. Thanks for watching & support! Please like & share the video and subscribe the channel for such useful contents. Thank you very much! 🙏

    Thank you for this informative video. I m working in Oman. I want to ask if I convert my savings account to NRO account. The net banking facility will remain same or I will have to create again?
    Also I have existing account with zerodha, do I need to close it or it will be closed by zerodha?

    • @WisdomExclusive
      @WisdomExclusive  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! If you convert your saving account to NRI account, then your saving account will be converted to NRO account and one additional NRE account will be created by your bank. Now, you will have NRO and NRE accounts and both will be operated under your old Net banking credentials.
      If you have existing Zerodha account as resident Indian then you need to convert it to NRI account for which the process has been explained in this video. Zerodha can also close your old account but you still have to either transfer or sell existing shares. Since, I had some shares in my old account, I transferred to one of my family demat account , closed the account and requested new account via this process. In case of any other queries, please comment and I will answer as soon as possible. Thanks!

    • @WisdomExclusive
      @WisdomExclusive  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Niraj - Thanks for watching and glad to know you found this video informative!
      Answer to your question - I only provided NRO bank account cheque as mentioned in document list while opening my account last year. However, they have now mentioned to provide the income proof as well and under that form 16 is mentioned, so I would assume they are asking for income proof from India.
      Newly added information from the link - support.zerodha.com/category/account-opening/nri-account-opening/articles/how-to-open-an-account-as-a-nri ,
      * NRIs are mandated to submit income proof while opening an account due to their classification as Clients of Special Category (CSC). To learn more, see Who are Clients of Special Category (CSC), and when must they provide income proof? Income proof can be any of the following:
      .Bank statement or passbook for the last six months.
      .The latest salary slip.
      .Form 16 or Income Tax Return (ITR) acknowledgement.
      .Net worth certificate.
      .Statement of demat holdings.
      If I were you, I would provide Indian income proof as unless asked by Zerodha to provide external proof.
      Please let me know incase you need any further information. Thanks!

      In this case also- You will be considered as investor in India as you still hold shares whether you are using Zerodha or not. I would recommend to convert your account to NRI otherwise if you don’t use the account for a longer period of time, then it might be considered as dormant and you have to contact Zerodha or your demat broker to activate it. Hello - Glad to know that my video is useful for you! Please find below the answers to your questions -
      1. If you still have Resident Indian Zerodha Demat Account - then yes, you need to either sell or transfer all your holdings including SGB to any other resident account ( may be of any other family member ) and then close the existing account. Then, you can open new NRI Zerodha Demat account.
      2. IF you already have running mutual funds with your bank account, it will not be impacted after converting your bank account to NRO/NRE. You just have to complete the KYC again with either your individual funds or with CAMS/Karvy once.
      Please let me know in case if you have further questions. Thanks!

You can provide your Portuguese passport or BRP along with OCI card of India. In both cases, you have to provide your Indian resident permit like OCI card, resident card etc.. In case of any other requirement, Zerodha team will contact you through email. Please let me know in case of any further queries. Thanks!

      @9rushi - Thanks for watching! The process is similar, which means, if you wish to convert Zerodha Non PIS NRI a/c to Resident A/c.. you need to follow below steps -
      1. Either transfer the existing shares into another domestic ( Indian Zerodha A/c of family member ) account or sell those shares
      2. Close the NRI account
      3. Open the online resident account
      You will not lose any share or money, you just have to follow the right steps. @WisdomExclusive  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello @muhammadev3424; From your question, its not clear about your problem ? Can you please let me know a bit more ? When you convert your saving bank account to NRO it simply means that you have converted your bank account from resident Indian to NRI.. it doesn't automatically convert your Zerodha account to NRI demat account. Submitting the docs to Zerodha as per process explained in this video is only if you want to convert your Zerodha account from Indian to NRI. Bank account is separate process and pre- requisite for Zerodha Demat account. Please let me know if I answered your query? Thanks for watching and support!🙏

      @WisdomExclusive  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@muhammadev3424 Okay, in that case, you will become NRI after 181 days of leaving India and if you plan to stay outside and have become NRI, you should convert your bank accounts to NRO and NRE. Then, you should also convert your Zerodha to NRI account. Although many people use it as residential but it can lead to financial penalties if caught by Income tax. Very good and informative video. But I still have many questions in my mind. I also recently moved to UK but staying in India at the moment 9n holiday's
    Q 1: Can I get all documents shown in your video, attested within India? Or Only Indian documents can be attested in India but UK documents (BRP, Address proof) needs to be attested within UK only?
    Q 2: how much it costed you to send all your documents via post from UK to India?
    Q 3: I have already invested in various mutual funds via Zerodha Indian resident account. What will happen to those investment when I open the zerodha NRI account? I also have ELSS investment and cannot redeem it before 3 years.
    Q 4: Are you aware of any other platform or app which can provides Direct mutual fund investments to NRI. I found and app named SBNRI, its easy but provides regular Investment.
    Q 5: I am in the process of updating my savings account to NRE and NRO. But problem is I have 3 savings account: 1 primary, 1 secondary (used to get my salary) and 1 Govt bank. Do I need to change all 3 to NRE/NRO? Or I just change my main account linked with Zerodha for payments for investment?

      Thanks for watching and your queries. Please find answers to your questions as below -
      Ans 1: The main documents which require attestation/notarisation has been done in UK through post office. Since, I was in UK while opening account, I did everything in UK but this can be done in India as well per Zerodha.
      Ans 2: Through post office tracking service you can send in £7 approx. However, non tracking is as low as £2 but you should opt for tracking service. Please refer for details - www.royalmail.com/sending/international/country-guides/india
      Ans 3: When you open NRI Demat account with Zerodha, they will close your existing account and open a new NRI Demat account. In case of stocks/shares, you have to either sell or you can transfer to another DMAT a/c. For mutual funds, you will not be able to continue but you can track existing mutual funds through individual mutual fund house website and after opening new account you can request Zerodha to transfer those into your new account. Your all existing mutual funds including ELSS can be left and tracked through individual mutual fund houses but you have to do KYC process again.
      Ans 4: For direct mutual fund, you can use Kuvera app and website. I have been using this and is very simple, allow for NRI and direct mutual funds. You can also import existing mutual funds into Kuvera for tracking. Please refer - kuvera.in/
      Ans 5: Ideally, you should change all your banks to NRO/NRE after becoming NRI to avoid any complications. If you don't need multiple accounts, you can also close such accounts.If you change one account to NRE/NRO and leave others as resident Indian, it will create conflict as you shouldn't and can't have NRI and resident accounts at the same time.
      Hope I answered all your questions, but in case of any further query please let me know. Thanks

      @ajaychoudhary3243 - Thanks for your query! I had resident Indian Demat account with Zerodha which was opened online in India but I closed that after becoming NRI & followed the process explained in this video to open the Non- PIS NRI Demat A/c May this year 2023. I double checked again at Zerodha portal and still the process is as explained in the video. However, you can fill information online but still you have to provide these information in offline printed forms and send back to Zerodha headquarter in Bengaluru. - support.zerodha.com/category/account-opening/nri-account-opening/oq-nri/articles/can-nri-account-be-opened-online#:~:text=NRIs%20and%20Persons%20of%20Indian,accounts%20cannot%20be%20opened%20online.
      How did you open without proving these information and without sending offline docs ? Did you open online without mentioning NRI status and provided your NRI bank account ? When I opened back in India, then I didn't have to provide any hard copies and its still completely online but for only Indian residents. Your case is bit strange for me as you mentioned you did not provide any of these docs, then what address you mentioned while opening the form and what proof you provided? The current shares can be transferred or gifted to another Zerodha account of your family if you don't want to sell or you can sell these shares and close this account and then apply for Fresh NRI Demat account. 1. Technically, when you reside outside of India more than 182 days, you become NRI and therefore, you should open NRI demat account as its legal requirement
      2. Yes, you can use VPN services and you might be able to open resident account thru VPN but you will NOT follow the rule and you might end up in more confusion & problems like ITR file, bank accounts in India etc...

In this account, funds only from an NRO bank (any NRO Bank) account can be invested. The Non-PIS account is recommended as it has fewer restrictions, lower costs, and a more effortless investing experience.

Thanks!

      @@utsavthakkar1287 Can you please check in your online banking account if you have option to raise service request for this? IF not, then I think you need to contact your bank.
      You can find phone or email address from the link - www.canarabank.com/UploadedFiles/Pdf/nri-cell-contact-details.pdf
      The whatsapp number - 90760 30001...
      You should be able to find all information or process from these contacts if your online account doesn't have such facility. Thanks!

      Yes, these instructions are for Non- PIS with NRO only. In place of notary you can also get docs attested by post office which will be easier & cheaper.

      @@WisdomExclusive you mean post office in india or abroad?

      @WisdomExclusive  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sriharshab2811 I meant to use Post Office in abroad to send docs in India to Zerodha office. But if you are in India during your visit, then you can also use Indian post office or any other courier services. I have specifically mentioned for Post office services of United Kingdom which is cheaper as compared to other courier services for sending documents from UK to India. Please comment in case of any other query.Thanks!
