  • Do you want to invest in stocks yet don’t have the time to research?
    I know I don’t know how to, and I’m not an expert in it either!
    Thus, I rely on the Smallcase investment strategy, which picks stocks based on groups - a category, a holding company, the growth ratio, the dividend ratio, etc.
    This helps me rely on the advice of experts, and picking my own portfolio without putting in the research.
    However, that research of experts comes at a price, and there are three types of charges that are deducted when you make investments through smallcase.
    I will walk you through all three investments, how, when and how much of those are deducted, and a uniquely wonderful way to invest in a Smallcase of all smallcases :)
    W.e.f. 21 Nov 2022, there has been a change in charges of Smallcase, which you may revisit here: bit.ly/3UHS71O

    The reason it's expensive is because these regulatory charges will be charged to you at time of purchase rebalance and exit of small cases. Which leaves you with very small return or no returns at all. Hence I feel it's an expensive solution. Sorry to be vocal in thoughts.

    Hi Ankur,
    First of all, thank you for creating such amazing content. Your videos are entertaining, at the same time they teach us a lot about managing our finances carefully. I have recently started my investment journey, and came to know about Smallcase through your videos.
    I have a small question about the All Weather Investing smallcase - how is it's liquidity situation? I mean, if someone wanted to sell his/her holdings in this smallcase, what are his/her chances of finding a buyer readily? I have the same question for all smallcases containing ETFs.

And I am happy to share that I invested in my first smallcase on Diwali and also in my first stock. Though it was from the money I got from my father. I hope that I can invest much more in the future with the money that I earn on my own. It would be very helpful if you could share how one should plan ones retirement and how to build a portfolio of investments diversified in all asset classes.

      Instead of investing money in stocks, invest in yourself, your learning and your experiences.
      If you invest well enough in yourself you will have enough capital to invest.
      Generating 50% of return with just 5000 is not worth much but same return on investing 50000 is worth something.
      Investing in yourself can make the difference of being able to save 5000 and 50000 that you can put in stock market.

    @10:15 Demat charges per stock (irrespective of quantity/shares sold on one day) when you sell is Rs.13.5 + GST.
    However, @12:00 Sir erroneously says this charge is per stock sold, and will increase with no. of shares.
    It is flat Rs.13.5 + GST per scrip in actual.

      May be he meant SCRIP by stocks

    • @jisnudeepmandal
      @jisnudeepmandal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      @@hardikshah580 When you sell a delivery stock you have to pay the charges to the depository i.e CDSL OR NSDL
      This amount is charged per scrip (i.e company) not on the number of stocks
      For example, let's say, you sell 1 ITC share and 1 BPCL share, then you'll have to pay 13.5 + 13.5 = 27
      But, if you sell 2 ITC shares, you'll have to pay only 13.5
      That means, more the number of companies, more you pay.
      In my case angel broking charges me some amount in addition to CDSL which costs me something around ₹23.5, don't know about zerodha or upstox, I said 13.5 bcz Ankur said so in his video

      but in reality it is just based on company...
      plzz
      correct me plz if i am wrong
      like if i sell 2 dmart stock in a day only then i have to pay 13.5 only
      but if i sell the 2 dmart stock on different days then i have to pay 13.5+13.5 = 27 rs

    Hey Ankur, usually mutual funds have around 1% expense ratio. If I want to subscribe to a paid smallcase with fees 6k per year, I'll have to put in 50k per month so that the total subscription cost becomes 1% of invested amount. If I want to invest less than 50k per month, should I still go for smallcase?

    • @Manu-ik8nn
      @Manu-ik8nn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      While you are right, Mutual funds are highly diversified and risk averse as such generate lower return comparative to small case investing.
      In first year your expense ration might be say 3% on let say 20K per month investing.
      But 3 years down the line, it will come down to below 1%.
      This is due to the fact that small case subscription fee is not proportional but fixed unlike MFS
      Hence for long term investing, I am definitely gonna advice smallcase.
      Once a portfolio crosses 10L, expense ration will be about 0.6% and will decrease with time further

    • @sarthakgoyal6691
      @sarthakgoyal6691 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Manu-ik8nn Thank you so much for replying back. I think you put it perfectly when you said that in mutual funds the expense ratio is variable but it is fixed in smallcase. I still feel that the expense ratio won't keep going down in smallcase with time because the subscription is yearly. So in 3 years, my invested amount becomes 3x but so does my subscription cost. So in that case my expense ratio would still remain 3%. Let me know if I'm thinking on the wrong lines here. Thanks!!

    I don't think smallcase product is suitable for beginners. It always shows that portfolio which is currently in profit and also shows unrealistic return value.
    The portfolio which becomes old or started showing losses they no longer shows them. The problem is for those users who continue to invest in them. They unnecessarily pay huge charges and suffers losses.
    There is also no guarantee that 5-10 years down the line, the particular portfolio will still work or not.
    So my advice is to go for mutual fund or index funds.
    Smallcase still has to prove its worth. Don't waste your hard earned money.

    11:18 slight correction here. DP Charges are levied at Rs. 13.5 (+ 18% GST) per day per scrip (stock) for the stocks sold from your holdings.
    If you sell 50 shares of X in the morning and 50 shares of X in the afternoon, the total applicable DP charges for that scrip(stock) for the day will be Rs. 13.5 + 18% GST.
    If you sell 50 shares of X in the morning and 50 shares of Y in the afternoon, the total applicable DP charges for the day will be Rs 13.5 + Rs 13.5 = Rs 27 + 18 % GST since multiple scrips are being sold.
    So, in the video it is shown that 13.5 * 50.
