    I've always felt there was a was a sense of mysticism in the series, right from when Claire and Frank landed in Scotland. Geills and Claire had a bond so it's no wonder she could sense it was her, to live between two worlds, two time periods. To be able to live Claire's life, wow!!!! To see the Castle in it's ruin state only to come back and see it in it's heyday!!

      Isn't it twisted that Geillis is still alive in Scotland at the same time that Claire is checking her bones? Like...there are two Geillis at once

      @@NyuTenshi yes, when they examined the bones, Geillis still alive in twenty century.. and Claire didn't know yet that Jamie was alive...to go back to the past to him... and kill Geillis...
      Geillis was alive in presente, would travel to the past and be killed there by Claire, who had examined her bones while she was alive in present...what a mess....🤪

    Everyone is commenting on spoilers, I have to admit I haven't read the book but I came on to TH-cam knowing there would be spoilers if I watched clips from a series I haven't seen yet it's just common sense. So for the ones who are sarcastically saying 'thanks' u really should thank yourselves

    Even in the books ,I couldn't successfully wrap around it,am I to believe Claire clearly knew whose skeleton it was whilst not having been to the Caribbean at this space;time;reality. Let's face it she appeared guilty as it comes when Dr Abernathy confronted her.
    I mean she's preparing to go back through the stone and not gone yet.

      She didn’t know it was Gailis or that she had actually killed her herself in the past. She just had a time traveler spidey sense about it. They don’t call her The White Witch for nothing.

      It was in the book. But she didn't know that the bones was from Geilis. Claire killed her later (in the 18th century) in the cave.

    • @lemorab1
      @lemorab1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Gabaldon gives you that impression in Outlander. However, Dougal MacKenzie saves her from the flames and she's pregnant with his child, but we find this out much later. Geillis is a notorious sorceress in Paris, while Jamie and Claire are there, but they don't encounter her. She is known as Madame Melissande and is acquainted with Raymond and the Compte Saint Germain. J&C hear of Madame, but don't realize that she and Geillis are one and the same. Madame is not received in polite society.

    • @lemorab1
      @lemorab1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Geillis doesn't appear in "Dragonfly." In a later book, possibly "Voyager" or even later, we learn of her Parisian life in the shadows. Geillis and Jamie and Claire moved in completely different circles during their Paris period. It's been so long since I read the books, I've forgotten exactly where this is revealed.

    I’m actually quite confused as to how this time travel thing works. Those bones are geillis’s we know that know. But how did Claire receive them first in 1968, without first going back to the 18th century🤔 and killing her first. In addition to time travel in reading and watching, I’ve understood that destiny has already been written by a higher power and you can’t stop it, but one has to first physically complete the action.

    • @NWCountryGirl17
      @NWCountryGirl17 3 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      it's closed loop time travel. Here Claire is seeing the effects of what she WILL do she just doesn't know it yet...
      it's explained better in the books but Claire, Jamie, Bree, and especially the kids have all exhibited a certain level of SECOND SIGHT Jamie and Briana have dreams occasionally Bree's children have a sort of telepathy with each other. Claire most often ignores hers but she gets these kind of waves of SENSING like when she picked up the skull...
      Sorry that was really long but it's the way I understand the set up I hope it helped

    • @anemated20
      @anemated20 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      It's part of her gift/powers, in the books, Joe says Claire is one of the best diagnosist he's met. She even had a flash vision of green eyes in the book, Geillis' eyes she'll realize later. Even the Master Raymond/apothecary music in the background helps portray the fact that Claire has more mystic power than she realizes

    • @Sophia-qp2pf
      @Sophia-qp2pf 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      EmSePet20 ohhh I see! It's just so confusing for people that haven't read the books. Me and my friends were all talking about this scene and we were all clueless. Thanks!

    • @pompe221
      @pompe221 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@Sophia-qp2pf Yeah, I don't think the show did this scene very well. Then again, it's hard to SHOW what someone's thinking when they're trying to hide their thoughts from someone. The book makes it more clear that Claire knew the deceased was a "pretty lady" from the high cheekbones and symmetry of the face, and sensed that the dead woman was surprised by her death, which made Claire the deceased "didn't want to die" and therefore was murdered. And she saw a flash of green eyes. But she didn't know the identity of woman yet so there's no reason for Claire to be acting so weird and cagey.

      Oh my lord.... I thought for sure this was going to be a mistake so I went to the comment section to figure out why the author would just assume it was Geillis. This is insane! I've read the first two Outlander books and have learned that no small detail is unimportant. I always wondered why this would be included in the book as a past review and wondered even more why the show made it so important with that eerie background music. It wasn't casual at all and they made it painfully obvious that it was more important than just a bone review. I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS WAS GONNA EVEN BE A THING.

  • @hahahoogies

      In Harry Potter part 3 too.. if harry saw his father first time saved him in the forest then he time travelled he saved himself not his father...
      Then in Harry Potter part 7 they tell us it's actually Professor Snape who created that spell for harry to protect him... So confusing time travel thing...😂
