The red hair is from dark haired Celtic natives mixing with blond haired Norsemen (Viking raiders). Anywhere along the coastlines of all the countries around there you find redheads because of the Vikings. The ancestral Frasers weren't coastal so it would be more rare among them. Of course after the rebellion they all got mixed around and moved around so no simple clan tracing means anything anymore.
I agree and refuse to watch The Emmys...political BS, snubbing Outlander and Sam and Cait🤬🤬🤬 The horrific rape scenes they filmed together were Academy Award worthy (if this were a movie).
"I told you to thank her, not marry her!"...that knife was delivered beautifully on a silver platter.. This is was most fantastic scene ever... Every line.. delivered with ... absolute perfection
I will never understand how actors can get into character, remember their lines, and deliver them so passionately…..all while there are cameras and people almost on top of them. And this scene……simply amazing. So beautifully done.
Ikr?! I always wonder that too! I guess a LOT of practice to the point where they don't even see the cameras and actually embody the chacters when they have to play them! 🤷🏽♀️
True, Diana has a knack for writing desperately addicted love. Going to have to compare to see what it is she does that others don't. I do seem to remember an older novel though, "Shana" by Kathleen Woodweis, that I was enthralled with about 40 yrs ago. (He was condemned to hang, She needed a husband in name only, so she married him "at the gallows steps" as the saying went, trusting he'd be dead and off her hands in a day or two. But, those wily fates stepped in.) It might be hard to find, being so old, bit as I remember it was very worth reading.
My heart broke when he said "you left me"...We know that was not the case and that he doesn't mean it like that, but he's been hurting for the past 20 years and he basically married out of pity and he's still overwhelmed with Claire being back... There's so much frustration it just had to come out...This was a fantastic scene, so well acted!
well in the book at the end of book two she ran to the stones while he was in a "house" trying to take down or evade a redcoat she was chased by a few redcoats before jumping through so in the books unlike the show she did leave him
Right! That was all him then he's gonna blame her lol she is wierd though for not looking him up the instant she got back. Then if he was dead, go back to frank. It took that other guy like two days to find Jamie lol
I think a lot of people are taking this scene the wrong way. She isn't really mad at him per se, just disappointed in his choice of wife and horrified that he might have slept with Laoghaire and had kids with the woman who tried to kill her. He isn't really mad at her for going back to Frank. He ordered her to do it as she points out in this video. She didn't react this way when she found out he had a kid with a random woman. They're both really mad about time and how they had no control over it. They both did what they needed to do to survive and this is them airing out the last 20 years of the pain of not being together and all the things that they lost in those 20 years. They know it's not rational to blame the other, but this scene gives them a chance to work through the unfairness of it all. I also think it's funny how he points out there are other men with red hair, but Claire is so in love with him that she only sees him. It never occurred to her they could be some other man's children because Jamie is the only redheaded man that exists in her mind 😂🤣
I share your point of view. Though I will say, Claire had it way more easy than poor Jamie, in those 20 years. Of all the possible women to marry, he marries Laoghaire, that was a stab in the heart. Even I felt betrayed…lol🤦♀️
I do agree. Let alone what Jamie doesn't think about is that she spent 20 years attributing a little redheaded girl (Bri) with him so when Claire sees a little redheaded girl call him daddy it makes perfect sense.
Yes in the books he didn't know, and when Claire was thinking about it one day she realized she never told him and Jamie was like do you think I would marry her knowing she tried to have you killed?
I agree with this post. Jamie may have been lonely, but it seems from other scenes his love for Claire would have made him feel guilty of even thinking about Laoghaire. He fell in love with the idea of being a father. He could have been a factor in the girls' lives without trying himself to Laoghaire.
I agree, but as someone who has never read the books I thought that he knew she was involved, but didn't get how involved she really was. I assumed he was confused about it since Clair told him to thank her that one time.
Also Laoghaire never testified in the book, it was just assumed she set Claire up to be arrested, also Jamie did not tell her about Willie until after they met up with Lord John Grey looking for Ian, Claire originally was told about Willie through Lord John Grey. I love the show but after reading the books they really missed the mark on a lot of things especially Brianna delivering Jemmie, Claire delivered him and Jamie stayed by Brianna's side the whole time, that was a powerful moment in the books.
I've been married to my DH for 49 years. I've been so angry at him I could just throw him out the window (wouldn't do me any good, we live on the ground floor). Still, I loved him. When he took a little step out with another, still I loved him (that's when I seriously considered an electric cattle prod). When I get mad enough to slap him he does as Jamie does, pins me down and kisses me, hard. See, Diana Gaboldon knew what women want when she wrote Jamie. Take the slap like a man and kiss her.
@@annraynor846 Well, I'd still want to bite him, but otherwise putty. That's why they end up with her on top, ripping off his shirt and Jenny comes in and ruins it all by breaking up their make-up sex. There's no abuse going on here. LOL
"She did try to kill me," "She WHAT????" "Oh did I never actually tell you that part?" "Ye dinna think I'd have marrit her if I knew she was behind you being arrested for a witch?" --Jamie in The Fiery Cross NOT KNOWING was the only way Jamie would've married that blonde harpy
@@NWCountryGirl17 I do agree... the books give much better detail but they do give us as much as possible in the show. I love both... in different ways... but I'm totally gobsmacked at the way the characters are brought to life. Jamie really does love the girls, as if he is really their Da.
@@juneD6994 He married someone he knew tried to have her burnt alive so she could dance on her ashes. And she needed sense slapped into her? Do women really accept literally anything for a man? Agreed. I was starting to think I was the only one that thought that too. For a fleeting moment, his demeanor changed & became dark when he expressed the extent he would go to keep her with him. Great scene!!
Love this scene!! So much passion. Must remember Claire had time to process knowing Jamie was alive. Jamie was surprised and had to deal with it in real time. Life changing.
Both should’ve won award after award. And been paid handsomely for their 12 episode per season work. When I think of other nominees and winners, I can hardly believe it. Also, costuming, set design, authenticity-- Outlander never disappoints.
Yes! This is by far one of the best shows I have ever had the pleasure of watching, it’s so passionate and painful, but all of those emotions makes it all the more real! This show deserves so much more credit than it’s given, every aspect of its production is magnificent!
Claire is a breath of fresh air, from her upbringing of her uncle the archeologist she is strong, beautiful, has her own mind, not indecisive, and she loved Frank (before she met Jamie) and Jamie without inhibitions...what a gift in life. The passion and anger shown between the two of them says it all...uchh!!!
How the heck haven’t they won or even been nominated for an Emmy yet?! Seriously it’s a crime against the entertainment industry as a whole that they haven’t...

This was set in the 18th century. Marriage and vows were taken seriously back then. He vowed to be with Claire till death and Claire's not dead. Legally and under church law, she's still his wife and the marriage with his second wife is void
@@felicialovesnkotb technically her marriage to Jaime happened in the past before frank was even born so I’m guessing that means her marriage to frank is the one that doesn’t count

You left out the best part; when Jenny came in, threw water on them and shamed them for disturbing the whole house with their fighting and humping. LOL
She had to allow him to have a life in that 20 yrs. so the son is fine. Even marrying would be ok if he'd married someone who was kind to him. She didn't want him suffering and lonely all that time. It was Leerie that was the problem.
I've always hated the term "bastard". It's not a child's fault how he or she was conceived. Giving a child the title "bastard" seems to put the blame and shame on the child. Always hated it in Shakespeare's plays, too, and he often made these people the villains. Genetics doesn't determine character nor does conception within or outside of marriage.
@@adora721lux8 You're right, for any year past 1950's. Before that most people would jump on you and say you're wrong. I think you're right, but like slavery and a dozen other topics, attitudes change.
What's worse is thinking we, the audience, wouldn't see the severe stupidity of Jamie being with Laoghaire at all. Willie couldn't be helped as Geneva forced him to be with her or else she'd sell Lallybroch out and Jenny and the family. But this was just needless melodrama.
The 20 years apart and the unique circumstances that forced that sorrowful separation, are now out in the open. The initial awkwardness and joy of their reunion, the fierce frustration, loss, and uncertainty of whether they can be one again, are all there. Every syllable, every facial expression, the quiver in their voices, their unbridled anger, the desperation in their desire for each other…..It’s all coming home to roost now. They are working their agony, love and jealousy out in this scene and it’s absolutely necessary and beautifully executed! They NEEDED to passionately love one another at that moment, to heal. They were about to do so….. Jenny’s interference broke the spell and hindered the healing process. Damn her!
My thoughts exactly. Too many people saying this scene is violent but the only victim is a tea table that gets smashed. He's a man of blood raised in a world where violence is commonplace. She knows this and eggs it on, intentionally or not. Proof of his adoration for her is that all he does to her is wrestle her down and force a kiss on her. It all ends up with her on top so she's being as desperate as he. If Jenny had stayed out of it they'd have spent their frustrations in hard-core give all take all physical release and been gentle and all fine tomorrow when they woke among the rubble.
I've never read or seen another fictional couple that's as devoted or perfectly paired as Claire and Jamie. Jane and Rochester come close, but still not to this level.

I think what is funny is that he was starting to tell her about it when they were interrupted by the kids, but neither of them remember this during this struggle. And every time I watch, when she says "get off me," it just cracks me up!!! LOL! I love this scene. The acting is flawless!
Lol. I can’t stop watching when he takes his anger out on the table. His cute little face right before he does it 3:15. He looks like a cute little puppy sniffing the air. That face is too cute as well when he screams that he didn’t care about Leerie.
@@RojaJaneman Lol! Yes. This scene is too cute. That little nose of his sniffing the air. I can’t help imagining little whiskers on him when he does it. It’s a good thing he took it out on the table since he swore to never put his hands on her again. He also makes a cute sound when he hits the table.
That very much depends on precisely what the man in question understands the word 'love" to mean. Every person defines it somewhat differently based on their experiences but not every person's definition of love is hralthy. A hell of a lot of people tend to believe that love is about control when control is actually the polar opposite of love (unless it's part of a BDSM scenario, that is). A woman who is unfortunate enough to have a male partner who defines control as love actually *doesn't* need a man to throw her down on the bed, because that's a man who probably believes deep down (whether he's able to admit it or not) that what he wants is far more important than what she wants...and that is certainly not love as I understand it.
@@OreadNYC He MARRIED a woman he knew tried to have her burnt alive so he could dance on her ashes. The fact that some are concentrating on his actions around man handling her and how somehow that equates to either sexy or love obviously missed the ENTIRE reason for the fight. Nobody who has ever loved you would do what he did. So his rough handling of her was just that, nothing more 🙄
@@jeffsanchez2086 In all fairness, at least in the books, Jaime's marriage to Laoghaire was not his choice or even his idea. It was his older sister Jenny's idea and Jamie went along with it. It could be argued that one of Jamie's weak points is that for a man of his time, he appears to be unusually susceptible to the influence of the women in his life (and not just Claire). He had no reason to believe that Claire would ever be able to return to him...and there is every reason to think that Jamie might still desire companionship even though he cannot be with Claire.
@@OreadNYC Jamie fully admits that he married Leoghaire because he wanted to, not because Jenny forced him. Nobody could force him to do that. He also runs after her jealous that she’s screwing someone else years after Claire’s return. So his feelings for Leoghaire run much deeper than he admits. It’s why he leads her on for decades. It becomes a very one sided love story once Geneva and his other women come into the picture. It never resumes what it was prior to that.

It’s not him getting married again that’s the real issue. The issue is marrying the woman who tried to kill her. I might be able to forgive him taking a wife for the simple fact that he might be supposed to have one, but taking Laoghaire as a wife? That’d be hard to get over.

I'd have wanted him to find someone sweet and caring to keep his demons and ghosts away the way Mary did for one night only while he was living in that cave. But Laoghaire betrayed them both because she didn't do that for him. And Jenny should have stayed out of it. They were working it out, though it seems a bit violent to some. The books are wonderful. What about the fight they had when they returned to the castle after the wedding dog tired & Claire thought Jamie left right away to go find Laoghaire & they had a big argument when he returned. She was so JEALOUS😂🤣
True. In the book Jamie was much more desperate, angry and violent over her intent to leave him. It was very nearly forcible rape going on and Claire was afraid as well as angry. He had told her long before that there was a beast in him that got released in battle, and he could neither control it, nor remember all that he did. Claire said she saw that beast that night before Jenny interfered, and we can presume Jenny saw some small bit of it because she was afraid of him too. She took her daughter and Claire and locked themselves in the parlor.
The best scene of all seasons... In a few minutes they accomplished to explode all their emotions hidden 20 years cause of the sudden break up If I could select one scene from all The series This is definitely the winner Both the actors deserve congrats

Lol! Stop watching all these video clips and start binge watching the series. Lol season one is my favorite but season 5 left me excited for the next season! So much crazy happens! Enjoy!
I agree with all the folks who think this was a very well acted and directed scene with a range of emotional states -subtle and not so subtle - "nailed" by the actors. Leading up the fight, J and C verbalize clearly "where they are coming from" emotionally and then their physical engagement reinforces with actions what they just told us they felt. Yet they take it to and even higher level so we "feel it too." I was surprised then by the comment below which saw J as an "abusive dude" and C as not fighting back enough. So I watched it again to try to "get" how someone could construe that from the scene. When I turned down the volume ( and didn't hear the dialogue leading up to the fight) and just watched the action of the fight, I could see how it might look like (without being "into the characters" and having not listened carefully to the dialog.) that the woman is saying "NO " to the man's aggressive sexual advances yet she ultimately is turned on by them and responds to him as if she had been protesting too much and didn't mean it ! What if he'd just rolled over on the floor in frustration as she continued to fight him off with her fists ? It could have been another " your tearing my heart out" moment and may have reinforced how enraged she was and how on the point of leaving she was . As soon as they are "at it again" you know they're on the road to recovery which is a tad anticlimactic... Of course the bucket of icy water wouldn't have been as "dampening" were they not locked together the heat of passion. Folks berate the person who saw this as "abusive" ; one can disagree with another's perception or you can try to understand why they may have perceived it that way. Many of Outlander scenes - especially those between C and J - are very rich in emotional "meanings" that can be interpreted differently which to me is what makes it so entertaining - or like watching "art" on TV.
I agree that Jamie knew about Laoghaire, he didn’t even want to say thank you to her when Claire asked him .The writer’s made a lot of mistakes. Especially the ones who read the books know the difference, “come writers”get on the ball”. But on the other hand ,I love Jamie and Claire and the outlander cast and look forward for it to come back.❤️👍💋💓🥰😍

My girlfriend and I argue about these scenes. I can see where both characters are coming from and why they did what they did. My GF comes down firmly on Claire's side. Jamie lost Claire for what he thought would be forever. He was hopeless at ever finding that kind of love again. He wanted to be a father to this two girls and have a normal life.
I agree with you. He waited 18 years for her to come back. When she didn't he just wanted to be a father because he liked children, and have some company. He wasn't looking for love, or even children of his own blood, just decent companionship. Claire was just over-reacting to Leerie. Some sweet little crofters daughter who treated him kindly wouldn't have got her dander up nearly so bad. She claims she's insulted that he lied to her, but he didn't. It was one of those "secrets" they agreed they could have if they must, but he never lied. He never loved Leerie and THAT is what SHE was angry about.
@@christinaag7970 You're right. In the book Claire said she didn't care what he'd been doing all those years, she wanted him. Even if he'd been a bigamist or public drunkard. That, of course, pinched him in the arse and spurred him to confess the bigamist part. But she wasn't currently in the mood to hear confessions and told him it could wait. It was her fault she didn't get told, though Jamie too willingly let it go by too long.
I’ve read all the books published so far and rarely have I seen an adaptation for tv or film that is actually better than the books, this is a perfect example of the tv show being better than the books. All the actors are brilliant in it they are all believable, but these two main characters are on another level they show their love for each other and also show the struggle to make his century blend with hers. The only problem I have with outlander is all the false stories coming out about Catriona and Sam’s real life and their so called off screen romance. They are clearly the very best of friends whenever you see them they are laughing and again rarely do two main characters get on so well on and off screen. I wish them both all the best and I’m glad the producers chose these two to play Jamie and Claire I just can’t think of any other actors that could portray them. DAmn Jamie she tried to have her burnt alive! Frank wouldn't have married her. Jamie so typical "you told me to be kind to the lass".... *rolling eyes*
I think he showed up to the courthouse a little late to notice L's vengeance, spite or fury. Claire should have told him the entire exchange between them. Maybe he would have been less forgiving and compassionate if he knew she planned to kill his soulmate.
Jamie has ample qualities The red hair, the accent, Heavy muscle, handsome, kind hearted, loyalty, Man of honor 😂😂😂😂 everybody wants single piece of him
Gotta admit that was the first time in the whole show where I was disappointed in Jamie. Being with the kids for the sake of them having a father is not the problem but there is no justification in marrying the woman that tried to kill your wife.
Somewhere along the line someone forgot that Claire was married for 20yrs...not a happy 20 but she was married. Why should Jamie feel so bad other than he was afraid to tell her. The way things look to me is, a double standard.....Claire's life wasn't much but it was a whole lot better than Jamie....

I was once in Scotland and saw a man with red hair, I went to him and asked him - Are you from the Frazer clan ? He was like "Not again"
The red hair is from dark haired Celtic natives mixing with blond haired Norsemen (Viking raiders). Also Claire's a hypocrite, she was with her first husband for 20 years after leaving Jamie!
well in the book at the end of book two she ran to the stones while he was in a "house" trying to take down or evade a redcoat she was chased by a few redcoats before jumping through so in the books unlike the show she did leave him
Jaime-“……..even though you left me..”
Claire- 🚨TRIGGERED🚨 prepare for war

Right! That was all him then he's gonna blame her lol she is wierd though for not looking him up the instant she got back. Then if he was dead, go back to frank. It took that other guy like two days to find Jamie lol
Her whole face changed after he said that
@@kennemedia01 my face changed when he said that 😂
“So you have chosen death.”
Rightfully so! He made her go back through the stones!
I agree☝️! I have enjoyed viewing all the scenes from season 1-5 of Outlander. I must say this scene was very powerful as well.
Yesss, when she says Its LAOGHAIRE! What a betrayal 💔
Yessss perfectly said!
They screwed up when they made Jamie aware of Laoghaire's involvement in the witch trial. Made Jamie's marrying Laoghaire impossible to believe
Yes!! I agree! The acting in this scene is superb by the way.
Even when they are angry, they are still madly in love with each other, violently. Even a splash of water doesn't stop them completely!

You left out the best part; when Jenny came in, threw water on them and shamed them for disturbing the whole house with their fighting and humping. LOL
I don’t know what’s worst, him having a bastard son or marrying the woman who tried to kill Claire
I’d say the fact that Leerie (phonetic spelling) trying to kill Claire is worse
Damn ... the chemistry with these two is immeasurable.
Academy award winning performance
The chemistry between these two is unmatched.
I've never read or seen another fictional couple that's as devoted or perfectly paired as Claire and Jamie. Jane and Rochester come close, but still not to this level.

Sometimes you just need a man to throw you down and tell you how much he loves you. 🤣🤷🏻♀️
He married the woman he knew tried to have her burnt alive so she could dance on her ashes. That’s not any sort of love 🙄
Frank wish he had this with Claire.....he was no where near. Scenes like this one gets me excited about falling madly in love some day. 😍🥰🥰

can i be told which book and what chapter the fight occurs??
😊
This scene always gets to me! The emotion that they are able to bring into it just too good! 🙌🏽

@@Blue-rl5dp Actually when she first arrived that night in the brothel he did try to tell her but she said to him to take it slow.
Far and away my favorite love scene, where Jamie and Claire bare their souls more than in any other scene.
Well done to the cast, producers, writers and all that are involved with this program and THANK YOU Dianna Gabaldon for writing such a masterful series of books roll on November so I can read Go tell the bees I am gone,
"Left you?.... Left YOU??? YOU forced me to go back, i would have died gladly at Culloden with you"..... I felt that in my SOUL!!!!! Omigod.. I miss this Jaime and Claire so much!!!!
Sending gratitude and thanks to the terrific writers of this series who took the excellent books by Diana Gabaldon and crafted this fabulous program just for all the fans. Thanks also to Starz for taking on the project. I’ve never been so entertained in my life. And I’m running out of adjectives…
I have noticed that throughout the seasons that Jamie’s accent isn’t a strong it was in the beginning of the series to how it is now in seasons five and six
Since you started watching who is your favorite character and why?? How are you doing Annelda, hope you are safe from the crazy Covid??

The series is so good I finished watching all seasons in 4 days😅
I Love this scene.....what chemistry!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hello Ms,
How are you doing ?
Hope your anticipating to see the new movie of Sam “Love again!
Are you a fan of Sam,
How long have you been a fan of sam?
It is humorous that who ever did the closed captions when it came to Loaghaire's name the closed captions called her "Larry" lol
SOME ACTORS ARE MILLIONAIRES FOR A GOOD REASON.
THEIR PERFORMANCE IS WORTH MILLIONS.
FOR ME JAMIE AND CLAIRE,THEN AMY AND TY(IN HEARTLAND) ARE THE BEST LOVE STORIES OF ALL TIMES.
I get lost it feels real like it's not acting I feel there emotions so real
This is a scene I watch over and over. So incredibly written and acted. And we were anticipating it with all the foreshadowing with Jamie talking to young Ian, Ian and Fergus... all the foreboding.
Bet they had a blast filming that scene.....love this show and these two.
Jamie has ample qualities
The red hair, the accent, Heavy muscle, handsome, kind hearted, loyalty, Man of honor 😂😂😂😂 everybody wants single piece of him
I love how Claire and Marasali hated each other and now Claire is Marasali’s mother pretty much.
this is basically their “we were on a break” 😭😭
This is not the best but one of the best. There are so many ,and the two of them masters them all. BRAVO Sam and CAITE. 🤩
I am watching this every day. Saves my sanity from living in this crazy world♥️
They cut off the best part when the sister comes in and chucks water on the pair of them lol
Hi Susan are you one of my lovely fan's out there?
This scene is satisfying to watch! Love the acting! Kudos for both!
They delivered their lines so good! I am in wonder
I never get tired of watching this. I love Jamie and Claire xx
Mr too💕
Since you started watching who is your favorite character and why?? How are you doing Sandra, hope you are safe from the crazy Covid??
My husband and I would like to thank these two actors for the powerful passion scenes. Thank you!
