  • Kody shows you how to properly clean and tune up the brew unit of your Saeco machine.
The brew unit is also interchangeable in Gaggia machines.
Visit our online store to get the parts you need!
EDIT: Note around 4:30 where Kody mentions Saeco part number "NM01004", it is actually NM01044.

Thank you for watching? Thank you for watching? No sir thank you for posting! This is the most informative thing I've seen of its kind. I didn't know until this video I could remove the Piston without taking it all apart thank you so much

Great video - thank you for such clear, competent instruction! My Saeco was barely dripping coffee into the cup, saying it has no beans when the hopper was full, and just generally being a pain. I was ready to toss it and buy a new one, until I saw how much they had gone up since I bought mine! There are no service outlets near me, so I started searching for 'how to's' -- so glad I came across yours! I just completed the job, found the gasket was almost eaten through, cleaned and lubed the machine as you direct -- BAM!! Works beautifully! Your video was by far the easiest to follow of all I looked at. THANK YOU!!

I've only rinsed my brew unit for nearly 10 years now. I performed the steps you outlined here and now it's like I have a brand new machine! I didn't have to replace the screen, but it was gunked up pretty heavily but after a 10 minute soak in some oxyclean made it just like new. I just replaced the pump so I figured I might as well clean the brew unit correctly. Thanks much for the step by step tutorial!

THANK YOU! Our Vienna Plus was stuck in a steam mode, with both green lights on....we tried everything, and after watching your video, I fiddled with the piston mechanism on the bottom, unlatched it and re-latched it, and now the machine works great!

LIFESAVER VIDEO!!!! After several months of poor dripping and most recently no coffee at all and one day after buying a new coffee machine, your vídeo helped me solve the problem, now my saeco minuto is pouring coffee as when it was new. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Everyone should know how to deep clean their machine.

Thanks for a clear and helpful video. Based on this guide, I bought the parts recommended from Genius Coffee Equipment. Small way to thank you putting this on-line. Your prices are real good, but even though international shipping down to the States added to the cost, I wanted to get it from you. Now my 6 year-old Saeco Xelsis Evo is running as good as new.

Just took my Saeco Magic Comfort out of storage and have spent hours cleaning it and did not touch brew unit. I would not attempt to disassemble brew unit without this video and FOR SURE would have lost that little pearl on the spring had I not known it was there!!! Thanks a lot.
Follow-up. Thought I was stuck at 3:35--getting piston out. Was afraid to force. But got brave and it popped out! Boy am I glad I gave this video!

I bought my Saeco Vienna Plus from Costco over 10 years ago for $350. I pull 3-6 shots per day and it's never had a bit of maintenance except for rinsing the brew group. It runs as good as the day I bought it. After watching this, I think she's due for a tune up.

Very nicely done instructional video with great camera work and narration.... When I cleaned the screen, many of the tiny holes were still clogged, so I used an old ultrasonic toothbrush (Philips Sonicare) and made short work of that issue.... Would not have been able to do this without this video!

Great video with clear instructions and the right amount of detail. I soaked my very clogged shower screen in Oxiclean for about an hour and scrubbed it with a stiff brush, rinsed it well and held it up to the light to see if all the holes were clean. I like dark (oily!) beans, likely why it was so clogged. Coffee is coming out of the machine as it should and tastes great again. Thank you so much!

Sadly, I don't have the small o-rings to do a complete replacement, but I did get the big one on the piston. Now, any advice why the beans might not feed regularly from 1) a full bin, 2) partially filled bin, 3) pushing beans under the clear plastic cover over the grinder. Again, thanks Doug

How do you clean the pour spouts on Saeco INTELIA when I make espresso there are black sediments on the bottom of the cup. I noticed coming out from the back of the spouts. So I tried a round toothpick and tried to free any stuck grounds it helped a tiny bit but still leaves sediments. I searched for videos on this but no luck!

Great video! Very helpful. My brew group was disgusting! Now, sorry for an off-topic question, but do you know whether the descaling reminder lights up based on condition (i.e. some internal sensor) or simply a counter? I am using water that is triple-filtered, softened, and then filtered again with a separate reverse osmosis system. I would love not to waste money on the decalcifier solution, if the light simply lights up after every N cups. Thanks!

Thanks for this video! My model was slightly different than the 2 examples. There's a long spigot that goes out to the spout. I also had a random O-ring that I was nervous about, then I realized it fit above the spring in lieu of the built in spacer on the model that you've shown. It's squeaky when it pulls now, should I put silicon grease on it or just replace it? And what number is the part? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Big thumbs up for the video! I have an identical Saeco unit to the one you're disassembling and my sieve (the one that is screwed to the brew unit and you're replacing here) fell off; as far as I can see the place it screwed on to is all cracked. Any idea if it's worth going through the bother of opening it up and replacing the whole thing it's latched on to? I didn't really notice a difference in my coffee and it's not clear to me what that part does in the first place. Thanks!

Hello & thankyou for your tutorial,
I have a Saeco Intelia HD8752 about 11 years old with the following issue:
If the unit hasn’t been used for a few hours or the power plug is unplugged and plugged back in again, upon power-up, the automatic rinse cycle starts as it should:
You can hear the pump groaning, sounds like it is blocked.
This automatic start up rinse is either very slow with little intermittent hot drips taking many minutes for the cycle to complete - which then leads to normal use.
    OR
No automatic start up rinse drips and therefore the process fails entering into ‘prime mode’ which also fails & leads to an unusable ‘maintenance spanner symbol’ code 5.
The only way to bypass this is to unplug and re-plug in the power plug, power-up the unit, then as it tries to perform the automatic rinse cycle, manually press the STOP option to bypass the automatic rinse and then the machine can be used as normal & makes great coffee.
Note: The above symptom’s got worse after I performed a de-scale cycle, which failed at the end with of the final rinse / prime - but fully worked up until that final point.
Maybe there is lime scale lodged in one of the following places:
    1. Boiler
    2. Solenoid valve
    3. Steam & water regulator
Note: This is strange because it is 100% possible to run the manual rinse cycle as per the instructions: Press the ‘pre-ground’ coffee button (with no coffee in it), then press the coffee / memo button and it does a big hot rinse no problems at all.
Also, after use, when the unit is powered off, it performs a small rinse cycle with continuous hot running water coming out the dispenser, but only for a very short time.
I have totally re-built the brewing unit per various TH-cam demonstrations with new stainless steel plunger screen + plunger o-ring, disassembled & blasted out all the tiny holes in the plastic plunger, made sure all the elbows and holes are clear and clean, installed the valve spring and glass ball correctly, greased all the o-rings, sliders and pivots.
I have also fully taken apart the dispenser locater under the LCD display, disconnected the tube that connects to the brew unit, blasted water + compressed air through it so that it is 100% clear. Fully internally cleaned out the dispenser unit.
I have calibrated the coffee grinding unit.
The other issue I have is that that GREEN does not work on the LCD display - however I can still faintly see the LCD instructions - enough to get by.
I haven’t run the LCD display diagnostics because that is too difficult to see / follow. But it seem like the pump + grinder & heater all work.
I have disconnected & reconnected the LCD & checked the other wires, but can’t see any damage.
Years ago the green would flicker on every now and then, but dead these days..

I bought the O ring gasket set; the two tiny O rings on the main part of the machine are frayed, I can get them off, but how to get the new ones on; they are the ones that seat into the little funnel like thing that sticks out of the brew unit opposite from the PUSH release.
