Also just want to say that if the world were to focus a bit more on preventative measures, we would be better off. Especially in the US, our healthcare system is not focused on preventing because there is no money to gain in preventing an illness. 😔

Dear Holly, I absolutely love you! And this channel is a great idea, but please dont forget some of us, me me me, are biology knowledge poor, to say it as nicely as I can. Meaning, if it gets complicated, we might need a bit more help. Like that bacterial wall thing? No idea. Didnt understand it. Other than that, this is so interesting and I cant wait for more. :) Keep up the great work! 👍🏻

This is exactly why I get so passionate and low-key irritated when people say just find a “cure for cancer” because cancer is such a vague word!!! Also I’m currently in the middle of the cancer lectures in BMB and all I can imagine is Dr Trevor Littlewood just going “yeah just target myc and you’ll cure cancer easy”
exactlyyyyyyyyyyy zara, exactly!!! and haha targeting myc would definitely be easier if it were an enzyme . . . but tumours would still escape and become resistant to an anti-myc therapy anyway so . . . ahh it's so tough!!! 😅

Do you have any cancer book recommendations?
it's my goal to tackle complex topics (basically everything in biology 😅) and make everyone enjoy it and understand most of it! and with cancer books, surprisingly i haven't read many to be honest (i only really started reading a lot over the past year)! i dive straight for the papers in all honesty, however i also enjoy reading articles from the new scientist! i did this a lot especially when i first starting getting interested in cancer biology! 🧬🔬

no it's ok don't worry! i simply fell in love with the biology of cancer. it's so complex and it covers so many aspects of cellular biology that i am never bored reading about cancer! i also think that because the disease is so prevalent in society, it makes me want to understand it more and know how to potentially prevent and combat it 😊🧬🔬members of my family have sadly passed away as a result of cancer, yes, and this just drives me towards learning more about the subject too!

Systems biology tools has been used in precision medicine like reconstructing cell- or tissue- specific genome-sacale metabolic models. But there meet a key question that what metabolic task should be set when reconstructing these computational models for healthy cells and tumor cells separately.
