My 8 year old *daughter decided to follow her horse around and sample his choice in food .
This may not be the exact right way to do this since she was in a horse pasture , but what does that matter to a kid .
She came to me excitefly telling me that horses eat a really good salad . She said some plants are salty some spicy, some sour , some sweet , some bitter, some are soft and easy to chew, some taste like fruit some taste really green, some are tough to chew, and some are soft.
She was so excited about her little experiment. Herblism has become one of her great interests .
By the way her horse lived to the ripe old age of 36, very old for a horse.

I was a tourist in Jamaica taking a tour with a 14 year old boy. Each time we passed a plant, he would tell me the medicinal properties and what it was good for. I asked him how he knew so much about plants. He responded that his family could afford to go to the doctor so they went to the ROOT doctor. Since then I perused making tinctures from the medicinals in my yard. I may become the root doctor before long.

When my dog in India had an intestional upset and reduced appetite, I kept seeing her choose lantana on our leash walks. I would jerk her away from it quickly as I had always read poisonous plant experts highly warn against it. Well, my L.B.D. girl chose the right maturity of the leaf every time I guess, and I began to respect her obvious preference for this plant. She healed herself with it and vastly improved her appetite. Didn't die once!

I've relied on herbs and spices for nearly 50 years. As a very poor young mother I didn't have money for a doctor but I had a very knowledgeable Grandmother. This was very interesting and I read some books. I tend to use the (edit: not sure what I meant here) protocol now. People here in Appalachia with this type of skills and knowledge are called Granny Witches. I find that an odd name, I'm not a witch but folks 200 yrs ago thought it was magic.

Nothing wrong with Appalachian witches! 😉 If not for alchemy and "witchcraft" we wouldn't have chemistry and science. A witch is someone that holds intuitive knowledge that mainstream science hasn't founded...yet. I think Magick is science that isn't yet understood. Nothing evil. Besides most witches in the Appalachian mountains use bible verses in their healing anyway. A healer by any other name is still a healer!

That doesn't mean to say I don't like food, but always go round the garden listening to herbs because they give off vibrations. It's necessary to intuit what is good for you and check it out in a herbal medicine book.

I was searching for a feeling of purpose, being appreciated, being loved in many different wrong places such as career achievements, clubs, others’ opinions, etc. I worked hard for many years to graduate and have a stable high paying job and acquired most of the materialistic pursuits I’ve ever wanted but that spike of happiness didn’t last until I had enough and started to ask myself many existential questions that truly make this life matters and that’s when I got out of severe depression and actually experience how it is to be fully alive rather that being like a puppet and just let my life pass me by. 24hrs before my first daughter was born. I went to the supermarket and saw chicken and then SAGE, I suddenly began to crave the sage like a mad person, having not used it or thought about it for years. I bought 2 big bunches and cooked it with the chicken. That morning I went into labour. I haven’t eaten it since. I’m sure that the sage had something to do with the labour, which was a successful, drug-free, home birth. Your body will tell you what you need, but you must be able to see the food/s, and probably have experienced them before. Which is why, exposure in childhood is critical.

One of the most important herbs is simple dandelion. Use the WHOLE PLANT, flowers, leaves, stems and roots. Externally it is great for skin health. The roots are like a cross between potato and carrot. The leaves are good for salad, or sautéed in butter. The white latex that comes out of the stem, or root is a good wart remover. The plant is a very powerful anti cancer treatment, taken daily as a whole plant tea.

Just found your account and it's exactly as I have known for years since a young child. I enjoyed the Podcast. I learnt alot. Our bodies are happier when we learn to invest in our heath instead of visiting the doctors. In the UK it's quite hard to get a doctor to see face to face so taking care of ourselves is essential now. I am so happy from what I watched coming from a Caribbean family who use lots of spices in their food. The power was alway in the herbs and I knew one day people would have to come right back from where they started
Mother Nature's always knows best she does. Turmeric Milk is what saved me from going to hospital after contracting Mild Covid but I also had Jesus with me as the infection was trying to head to my Lungs but I remember hearing my late elderly Mum talking about Turmeric Milk and Honey 🍯 I was better after 48 hours and I love Green Tea. Now, it's Cod liver oil due to Pre Menopause and fruits but those which helps inflammation stay at bay and removed completely. The body is increasingly intelligent at healing itself. We mess around with our bodies far too much. All our bodies need is a little assistance now and again but we have to be very tuned in as to when our bodies need such help as long as we are doing our bit by eating foods that are best for us even though we may not even like them. 😄

I was in San Francisco years ago and had the worst stomach hangover, felt like I was gonna puke every 30 seconds. I was miserable but followed my un-hungover friend into a bar. Told the bartender how sick I felt and without hesitation he said "this is what you need" and gives me a shot of Fernet Branca. If you're unfamiliar with Fernet it's an Italian bitters liquor made of over 40 herbs & spices. It's impossible to describe the taste but it's like less worse Jagermeister. I was thinking oh god no more alcohol but took the shot and I swear on the lives of my entire family within seconds my upset stomach was GONE and I felt great. It was one of the most insane things I've ever experienced. I don't party as much anymore but still keep a bottle of Fernet by my bedside just in case I have a wild night of drinking. It seriously works every time on a hungover tummy and I have told so many people about it. Apparently it's very common in San Fran--every bar has an easily accessible bottle of Fernet. I'd love to hear from an herbalist (ahem Simon Mills) why this works. Has anyone else experienced this with Fernet??

If you don't have high blood, lying your body on the ground and put your legs up the wall from 5 minutes to 20 minutes that will help the edema. You can do it every day at 5 to 20 minutes. Put your hips about 3 to 6 inches from the wall. Then when you are really to stop you can turn your feet in circles & then circle like your feet the oposite side & maybe give your legs a gentle massage if you have the time!

These assistants were employees of Big Pharma and typically their job was to talk to medicine "doctors' to find out what plants and herbs they used for their patients illnesses. They will return to the USA with plant samples etc. to figure out the active ingredients.

Natural herbs are more bio avaliable In our organic chemistry set we call a stomach. Not to mention organics atracts microbes to the gut and Synthetics may kill microbes. Synthetic suff is obviously not as good for some people. Long live the organic healing methods. ✌️❤️

22:00 I've been saying for decades.....who needs meat when we got lentils 😊
    34: 00 asprin
    37:00 wormwood = vermouth.
Drinks were sometimes medicine. But we went overboard and drank to excess. The palace of wisdom.

An important note here. Do not use bitters if you have a peptic ulcer as they increase stomach acid. And do not use bitters if you have had your gallbladder removed. When the gallbladder is removed the person can develop chronic diarrhea and has a significant increase in the risk of intestinal cancer due to dumping of caustic bile in to the intestines. Normally bile is secreted in very small amounts being released by the gallbladder. Without the gallbladder bile instead dumps in large amounts in to the intestines leading to intestinal inflammation that leads to the diarrhea and increased risk of cancer. Since bitters increase bile release this can aggravate these issues in people who have had their gallbladder removed previously.

@@bridgereyes951 Bitters can be found in food , beverages, and herbs, just google. Many people take liquid herbal bitters like Swedish Bitters. As I mentioned before, if you have a peptic ulcer, or gallbladder removed, avoid bitters. The alternative are Capsules . Capsules bypass the bitter receptors on the tongue and therefore do not have the same effect as contacting the tongue. The vagus nerve is stimulated by the stimulating the bitter receptors on the tongue.

How often do you consider routinely?
Also, how do you utilize the hyssop?
Fresh leaves, dried leaves in a tea or another way?
Or the flowers, stems, or roots?
I’d appreciate any answers you might provide. Thank you.😊

Me too, as they are studies which proof that garlic is medically ingredient and it’s saisonal most powerful local vegetable that’s not fully of herbicide or other pesticides that other Asian imports can contain… do not really think we should go that far… all cultures have their own regional medicine…

We call them "weeds", but our body cells perceives them as nourishment and medicine. Our pets graze on them, but we are so backward if we eliminate them from our environment. Where we step bare foot on the soil, Nature will answer to our biochemistry imbalances with appropriate herbs in one season!
