I had a wild red Fox that lived on my property. She had kits every year and when old was replaced by offspring. I would see them at night and early in the morning. I loved my guests. It saddened me that as time passed I had new neighbors with different ideals move into the area. Pressure was put upon me to have a golf course look to our place rather then a natural field. Found it strange, people with this idyllic idealism would move into an area surrounded by two state parks. Wild places, but they did come. I began to mow the field myself rather then hire that first time, saw my old friend the fox come from her den and run across my place and hopefully make it to the forest. Tears came. I will always have beautiful memories of her and kits coming close to the house. So I could see their next generations. They are one of many of Gods beautiful creatures.
I'm sorry your neighbours didn't see what you, the foxes & the area would lose by pursuing their idea of what a field should look like. I don't think they should have had any influence on your field though, it's yours. Does that mean you could tell them what to do with their field and they have to comply? I feel particularly frustrated about their actions and the impact it had on you & the foxes. Nature needs our respect and help not to be eradicated because it doesn't look 'just so'.
You should have told them to F- Off and MYOB. You have a right to protect your own property, especially if you were maintaining it to preserve wildlife.

I had a couple of foxes living at the back of the garden years ago. They stayed a while, behind the rhubarb plants in some serious undergrowth of brambles and a fallen fence. Decades before, there was a huge oak tree there, but it fell in a storm when we were just kids. I remember there was a large delve in the ground near where the trunk stood, so although I never closely investigated, I presume they lived there. I fed them every 3rd night whatever we had leftover, and used to watch them sitting and playing the in snow once they were brave enough to roam the garden. Then they left.

I have just recently found your channel and after seeing how intelligent, affectionate and beautiful these animals are I just can't fathom the idea that some people use them for fur or hunt them for sport.
