Love video as always. I was wondering if you blocked up the brush hog so it couldn’t fall on you? I just didn’t see anything

I understand your concern since it’s hooked to a Deere. Yes I put a stand under the back. If it had been hooked to the Kubota I’d have just left it alone since there wouldn’t have been a chance of failure 😂! Thanks for watching

Ben, your videos are always thrilling!!! When I still farmed, I ran Kuhn and John Deere (made by Kuhn back then) disc mowers, and it was a wrestle to hook up. I really do like that hook-up on the Vermeer. I always did my maintenance a month or two before hay season started so I wouldn't be in the field changing blades. Good video. Keep the camera rolling!

I’ve found running a wire brush over the pins to clean them up before trying to put them back in with the blade makes it a lot easier. I clean the turtle out as well so the clips go in smoother.

I sharpen my brush hog blades the same way I used to take them off. Then I just started doing it while attached. Also even at $1800 that's not bad. I unfortunately need a medium duty 84" brush hog and they are anywhere from $6000-$7500.

I’ve got the same old 6’ heavy duty bush hog brand that my grandpa had its 40+yrs old, he never put a grinder on his blades, he always took them off & forged an edge on them, he said if you put a grinder on them it takes metal away from it & if you forge an edge on them they stay balanced thus not putting wear & tear from vibration on your tractor but even more on your gearbox!!! However I’ve put 1 gearbox on it about 20yrs ago & have never took the blades off, I’ve used a grinder to replenish the edge. So whether it’s true or which is better I’m not sure but only 1 gearbox in over 40yrs is pretty good wouldn’t you think!! They don’t build them as heavy duty as this one is anymore!!

Put a socket and extension through the dick hole on the blade bolts and that'll hold a stumpjumper from turning.
Then put some vice grips on the blade up against the stumpjumper.
    It helps.
