The Oculus found an ancient record of an old Earth myth with the phrase within it. They have said as much in previous vox records. I am sure they simply appreciated the well spoken writing of the myth and adpoted a select few of its more prosaic quotes.

If the imperials didn't treat demons with such trepidation but instead considered demonic incrusion to be something like a burst sewage pipe and went into combat with an attitude of "Oh for fucks sake, not this groxshit again. After years in service, this shit is probably just routine to them, one of those things you have to do in your daily Inquisitorial life. Take out the trash, wash the dishes, feed the grox, monitor the reckless lunatic de jour trying to understand the creeping madness behind reality......
That was possibly the best voice acted piece you have done so far. The despair, terror, fear and hopelesnes at the end was not just audible, it could be felt. Truly a great vid or is it considered audio drama now?

Also it's nice that he actually hints at it before, slowly building up how just talking about this chips at his mind.
I really like the idea that part of the reason that the Space Marines carry knives isn't just because they need a backup close combat weapon, but because the Emperor knew that sooner or later during the Great Crusade his forces were going to have to fight the forces of the Immaterium and that a bolter alone wasn't going to do the job, you need to assault them on a conceptual, symbolic level.

Its speculated that the scholar named Lovecraft was one of the few latent psykers present on early terra, and as a result he could peer in the warp, and record his findings...however How that turned out I don’t know...
It is possible that the "Color out of space" was but a hallucination brought about by the effects of cosmic radiation. Light as it is has no color, color is an illusion that the brain creates.
Similarly, the alien hues of the Tzeentchian daemon is an illusion perceived not by mortal eyes, but sensed directly by the mortal mind.

By the Throne, the immersion this channel provides into 40k lore is unparalleled. The idea that these daemons must be fought on a conceptual level is mind boggling. That it is the ingrained *belief* that the sword and flame cast these never-born back to hell is such a fascinating observation. Simply amazing! Fantastic! You deserve a youtube Emmy for this level of content!

It's really impressive how even as his sanity is cracking and the gas is kicking in, Occulus still manages to somehow retain a bit of his train of thought on the effectiveness of fire and swords before consciously switching to protective prayer. That's a lot of will and dedication on display.

It is fear of pain to a degree, sure, but it is also fear of not being alive to feel something good, you're missing sensory experience. It may be fear of dying and not being able to clear your name, or defend your legacy, and so dishonour. And of course it may be a fear of dying and leaving things undone, obligations or goals unmet, and thus your "plans not carried out". They are all part of the same whole.

Ok I caught that Tolkien quote in there. So fitting, the dwarves found a demon in Moria and this knowledge leads to finding demons in 40K.
Having done my 85 hours at the manufactorum this week, i've been given 10 hours off for Sanguinalia.
After 30 years at the furnaces, my seniority means that i now have a hab-unit with a window and if i crane my neck,
i can actually see some sky. A sky that at 4 o'clock in the afternoon is already darkening, due to the pollution levels.
Although, is it really the pollution or something darker?
A ping on the vid-monitor means that i have a new program to watch. It's a historical narrative from one of my favourites.
This should be good. I've got a synth-turkey sandwich and some hot caffeine, so i'm going to settle down to watch.
(Although the noise in the corridor is a little distracting - - it's a sort of scuttling noise and it seems to getting closer to my door)

Hearing oculus's usually calm demeanor turn to utter terror at the Aldrich terrors behind the veil of reality is accually v moving
"I'll take precautions he said", "it will be fine he said". Also, he kind of gave an instruction on how to summon daemons and get infatuated with them - not the wisest move considering he already had an Inquisitor in his face...
The entire thing was difficult to follow as a side podcast, but man was it atmospheric and in character! That ending was pretty scary and very well acted out!
Hearing oculus slowly lose himself to the ruinous powers and proceed to ground himself with the emperors prayer gave me an unwarranted amount of joy. Your work is astounding, seriously!
Yeah, you can hear him slipping into madness and then just barely catching himself before he goes too far and quietly struggling to pull himself back. The fact that he both lasted so much longer than the first time and caught himself before he could slip even farther than the first time is a testament to his strength of will and depth of faith. The Lord Regent chose well when selecting him for the Logos Historica Vertica. However, we can only hope and pray that the same virtues for which Roboute Guilliman choose the Oculus do not fail him should he try to delve into this madness again.
I imagine Oculus recording this, in a bunker surrounded by void shields, with the Inquisition frantically fighting to get in to put a stop to his heresy... STAY STRONG BROTHER REMEMBRANCER!!!
How you missed being just MAULED by Ordo Malleus for this is beyond me.
He is a member of the Logos Historica Vertica. Handpicked by Roboute Guilliman himself for his ability to provide insight and information into the history of the galaxy while remaining inviolate and indomitable in the face of terrors and temptations such as these. Though, as one of his videos have shown, even the Lord Regent was highly reluctant to let the Oculus penetrate even a little into depths that have dragged his own brother Primarchs into madness and corruption. But, ultimately, Roboute decided that it was wiser to grant his servant his blessing so that he might be better protected and prepared than if the Oculus had breached the subject in violation of his forbiddance.
As someone who is a massive fan of Lovecraft, Howard, Machen and so on I just cant help but give you props. This is masterfully worded and may be my favorite of all of your videos.

I love this. I love how you describe the great ocean, an outerversal realm, beautiful to its own yet terrifying on a scale that no mortal, save properly for the emperor of mankind can ever known. It’s because of the Emperor that infinity tides, the hungering maws, the greedy claws and the festering tendrils of Chaos. Have not flooded the material universe, the same cannot be said for the universes that were devoured and merged into the great ocean. The emperor is true to his words, he protects.

I love the stpry of the Oculus. I 100% buy that he exists in the 40k universe. One small man who cannot even fight, trying to do what he can, even if he causes himself irreparable damage through his explorations of all of it's horrifying aspects.
That was super cool, the ending had me look up from the space marine I was painting and just watch and listen. It was so well done I realized I was kinda concerned for the guy talking.

I've always missed this... almost Lovecraftian aspect of the Daemons in Warhammer in general? I know that term is thrown around rather loosely these days, but the Daemons of WH40K and Fantasy were always understood to be impossibilities that still undeniably are while rarely evoking that unknowable-ness in full force.
Once again Oculus takes a stack of dry "information" or description and turns it into "knowledge" that is on one hand exactly the same as the dry data of it and at the same time MONUMENTALLY more on a personal, emotional level. I could almost feel the minor Daemons circling his mind and probing the edges of his consciousness for *a way in*...
This is my favorite entry thus far, and it illustrates perfectly your enourmous talent as a storyteller.

In a channel filled to the brim with content ranging from the excellent to the sublime, this work is seminal. A point of culmination marking a course of constant improvement, setting a new standard of excellence and quality. It is in many ways an audio record, filling in, and giving further perspective to the Liber Chaotica, a book that for me is the best source on the Warp as a whole.
