This song popped into my head today: I thought it was Anne Murray, but pleasantly surprised to hear The Carpenters recorded it. I haven't heard this song since being in my parent's station wagon on the 8 track. It has been a long long time. This is sweet nostalgia at it's best.
You're always in my heart From early in the mornin' til it's dark I gotta see your sweet, sweet smile everyday When I wake up in the mornin' And I see you there I always whisper a little prayer I gotta see your sweet, sweet smile everyday I gotta know that you love me And that you want me And that you'll always be there I've gotta know that you care And I gotta feel your arms around me And that you need me And that you'll always be there I've gotta know that you care If my times are bringin' me down You're the only one that I want around I gotta see your sweet, sweet smile everyday And if I'm all strung out You're the only one who can straighten me out I gotta see your sweet, sweet smile every day I gotta know that you love me And that you want me And that you'll always be there I've gotta know that you care And I gotta feel your arms around me And that you need me And that you'll always be there I've gotta know that you care You're always in my heart From early in the mornin' til it's dark I gotta see your sweet, sweet smile everyday
Most people don't realize that Karen was a drummer before she was a singer. In a 1975 Playboy magazine readers poll, Karen Carpenter was voted the best rock drummer of the year-beating out Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham. The late great timbales jazz musician, Tito Puente, once said she was his favorite percussionist.
I love Karen also but to keep things in perspective, this was a one off. John Bonham is listed in the top 10 of almost every drummer poll out there... Karen Carpenter rarely even makes it on any of these polls.
True George, but I believe the drums on this were played by Ron Tutt, who was Elvis Presley's usual drummer at the end of his career. Hal Blaine and Jim Gordon of the Wrecking Crew did the job on the earlier work by the Carpenters as were most of the A and M artists hits.
Always was one of my Fav's of theirs. It had that country twang to it. This is something I don't think the Carpenters had done before. I also recently found out Juice Newton had co-wrote it. However her version is slower. Richard did a great job making the tempo quicker on their version of this song. I play this on my 12 string all the time. Karen one of the greatest female voices of all times. And yes she could also play the Drums very well. Impeccable timing on her drumming.. Hal Blaine said she was excellent.
We played this at a country station I was working at the time.It went to #8 on the country chart, making it the only Carpenters song to do so.It did not make the pop top 40.peaking at #44.
I didn't know how high it got on the country charts, but I know that it did, and though it reached the pop charts, it didn't make the Top 40. Today (February 3, 2021, is the 38th anniversary of Karen Carpenter's death.
It also peaked at #7 on the Adult Contemporary charts. Posting March 2, 2024, on what would have been Karen's 74th birthday. Wow, hard to believe she'd be that old! Guess it was because she died so obscenely young (age 32).
One of the greatest voices ever. So sad she left us to soon.

В первые сегодня прослушала эту заводную веселую песню в стиле кантри и пришла в полный восторг . 👍🎶🌹
You're always in my heart
From early in the mornin' til it's dark
I gotta see your sweet, sweet smile everyday
When I wake up in the mornin'
And I see you there
I always whisper a little prayer
I gotta see your sweet, sweet smile everyday
I gotta know that you love me
And that you want me
And that you'll always be there
I've gotta know that you care
And I gotta feel your arms around me
And that you need me
And that you'll always be there
I've gotta know that you care
If my times are bringin' me down
You're the only one that I want around
I gotta see your sweet, sweet smile everyday
And if I'm all strung out
You're the only one who can straighten me out
I gotta see your sweet, sweet smile every day
I gotta know that you love me
And that you want me
And that you'll always be there
I've gotta know that you care
And I gotta feel your arms around me
And that you need me
And that you'll always be there
I've gotta know that you care
You're always in my heart
From early in the mornin' til it's dark
I gotta see your sweet, sweet smile everyday

I loved Karen Carpenter, but John Bonham could drum circles around her.

Actually, Karen Carpenter died February 4, 1983. This supersedes my previous posting.

Ben ya des cygnes, and you are always in my mind , force est de constater que je suis rayonnante quand je t'ai eu au téléphone....
Not bad,but to much Stereo Enhancement,Rythm Guitar to loud,Bass guitar to muddy and some other minor faults.
But nice try.
