YES!!!!! I remember when 'Wasted on the Way" came out and we thought it was a chorus and it was Crosby stills and nash. That will ever be my reminiscing song
Besides the list, some of my other favorites: The Four Seasons- Sherry, Rag Doll, their entire catalogue Wilson Phillips- Hold On, You're In Love, entire catalogue Penatonix- entire catalogue Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, any song they did harmony for Three Dog Night- entire catalogue, and I really love Shambala Chapel Hart- You Can Have Him Jolene Any Motown girl group or guy group like The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, etcetera. Philly Soul groups like The Spinners, The Chi Lites, McFadden and Whitehead, etcetera Hall & Oates-entire catalogue Any 50s vocal group like The Platters, The Five Satins, etcetera Okay, I could name many many more but I'm quite tired of typing!😂😂😂😂
Queen doesn’t even get a MENTION despite being literally world-renowned for their vocals. Mojo - “Duh, let’s make a list without them or The Bee Gees!”
The Everly Brothers harmonies are so heavenly, nobody did it better. Their songs sounded great in the 50's and still sound great today, their music is timeless.
How can you forget the lush, complex harmonies of the The Association's "Cherish", "Never My Love", "Along Comes Mary", "Under Branches", & so many more
Yes the Association is one of my all time favorite groups. Along Comes Mary brings back memories of happier times Summer of 1966, graduation from high school, last really free summer. It was an anti drug song, ahead of its time. I love to sing along, but you gotta sing fast. Another song of theirs I like is a unique song called "Requiem For the Masses. " About a soldier in Vietnam, poor sucker catches a bullet and wanders off into the jungle to die. Tells of the thoughts going thru his head as he lay there expiring. A very scathing anti-war song.
Requiem for the Masses has astonishing harmonies and soul-shaking tight blended harmony in the performance. If it's not on this list something is wrong.
The Moody Blues had some of the most lush harmonies of the late 60's and early 70's. Hypnotic and tight, and like most prog rock, best experienced while "under the influence." And although they were more of a jazz quartet, The Manhattan Transfer had some of the tightest and most intricate harmonies in all of music. Two of their biggest crossover hits are great examples of this: "The Boy From New York City," and "Soul Food to Go" (which also had an amazing music video featuring stop frame animation in the style of the old award-winning California Raisins commercials).
@@JohnMunsonSLU All you need now is a few chimpanzees with a guitar and one with drum sticks who can inconsistently use the required four chords then string along 37 successive cuss words and you've got a hit. Being able to sing is not require and if you spit and slobber like a brainless monkey then you can do rap, too. I suspect that the industry forgot to put the C in front of rap because the people running it aren't intelligent enough to spell it correctly. It's all no talent noise now.
I'm a Gen-Z'er but have always lived for 70's music, my favorite band being ABBA. I realize now that the only common denominator I can find between all of my favorite artists are strong vocal harmonies.
I would have chosen Chiquitita rather than Thank you for the Music as ABBA 's best harmonies. I love all of ABBA 's songs, but Chiquitita is total 100% perfection in harmony!
The Seekers. A massively talented Australian 60’s foursome. Harmonies that will put them above everyone mentioned here! Three songs in particular, written by Tom Springfield; A World of Our Own, I’ll Never Find Another You, and Georgie Girl. I’m going to listen to them right now. And you should too!
Sadly we lost Judith last year but the boys are still plugging away. My favorite is in When the Stars Begin to Shine at the near end when she hits that high note and makes it look so effortless. ps, for those that don't know Tom Springfield is (was?) Dusty's brother.
Judith could recite the Sydney phone directory and it would be good, but what the hell, I vote for Georgie Girl. Lightning in a pint-size bottle.@@paulhare662
Moody Blues, "Lovely to See You", when they sing the line "Where empires have turned back to SAND!". I definitely get the voltage up and down the spinal cord when the group harmonizes the word "sand".
@@jimlowell5251 Thanks for pointing out the Four Seasons version of Silence is Golden. I listened to the Four Seasons version and noted a difference. The Four Season version has a slightly slower tempo with a softer group harmony voice tone whereas the Tremeloes sound stronger in voice tone and more emotional with a quicker tempo.. The Tremeloes version is what takes me back to a summer of my early bitter-sweet teen years of the sixties.
Agree with all that BeeGees should be here -- pick a song, any song. Also CSNY - Southerner Cross gives me chills every time I hear it. The pick for ABBA was ok, but so many better options to showcase their sound: Fernando is the one that brings so much emotion for me.
I remember in September '76 I was in Galicia,Northern Spain, walking along narrow lanes and up a hillside. As I passed through several hamlets I suddenly heard the song "Fernando" playing in Spanish on a radio and it really sounded so moving that I relive that few minutes, nearly 50 years later whenever I hear it.
A good friend passed on me a couple of years ago. I was with him every day for a few years. I knew he had a heart problem, and I would do things after hours at the shop so he didn’t have to. How about any early Bee Gees? To Love Somebody? New York Mining Disaster? Massachusetts? After I first heard them in the Stayin Alive days, I found their early songs & was in love forever.
As a retired choral director I was surprised to find many of these songs amongst our repertoire. The rich harmonies lend themselves beautifully to choirs.
Celtic Thunder over the last 10 years has done many, I love all your pics and realized sometime ago that when groups harmonized well it pulled me in, its a feeling we all get when the vocals grab you..🙏🏻❤
In the 60-70's it was all we could do to listen to them behind our parents back. I remember my Grandfather in disgust saying how it will all be forgotten in 2 or 3 years.
As an older man I apsolutely appreciate how you featured the "oldies' i was most happy that that era got its just desserts. Still the best era of music in history. Thank you good job.
You almost got it right...California Dreamin' #1 in my book, sends chills up my spine every time I hear it. And Cass Elliot was the band member who gave the Mamas and the Papas their distinctive sound.
Case had a wonderful voice, to be sure, but this is about harmony. John Philipps had his faults, there’s no denying, but he was who arranged those beautiful harmonies. My favorite, TWELVE THIRTY.
@@marvinmeeker5765 Yes it is. Kudos to John Phillips, as well as everyone involved. When a song comes together as beautifully as California Dreamin" It's like capturing lightning in a bottle.
I see a lot of great additions in the comments. Personally, I would give a nod to Electric Light Orchestra, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons (specifically "Who Loves You Baby"), and Boyz II Men (their whole career was virtually based on their vocal harmonies). One common thread among great harmonizing bands is they often have multiple lead singers. The Eagles (3 lead vocalist), Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons (3 lead vocalists), Fleetwood Mac (3 lead vocalists), Boyz II Men (at least 3 lead vocalists), Crosby Stills & Nash (3 lead vocalists), Bee Gees (3 lead vocalists), every duo already named, and many many more.
I agree. It should have been done as a top 20, or even a top 25. Even then it's difficult to compare groups. They all had their versions of beautiful harmony. The number one pick is totally up to individual taste.
I love Queen, the Bee Gees and the Carpenters as well and was surprised to not find them on this list. For more recent groups I'd go with Pentatonix, Home Free and Voice play. There's a lot to choose from for sure.
My father loved Country, my mother loved folk & 50/60s pop. Forever grateful that music was almost always playing in the home and that we were each encouraged to find our own favourite music.
Yeah, this video needed 20 spots, they left a lot of bands off. Aside from all the other more obvious Hollies tunes, "I Can't Let Go" always gave me chills.
Conspicuous by their absence is The Manhattan Transfer. There are so many of their songs that have gorgeous harmonies it’s hard to pick one. I think I’ll go with candy, but you can go to virtually any of their albums and find beautiful harmonies.
Manhattan Transfer is not listed because they would take up all 10 slots... Shaker... Birdland... Nightingale sang in Barkley Square... I could go on and on The best harmonies in the last 60 years!
You missed the Carpenters. Karen's voice was exquisite and paired with her brother's superb arrangements and overdubbing created a completely new sound in harmonies.
Scarborough Fair gives me chills. Not just for the intricate harmonies they have seemingly weave the song but for what the song means ! True Love will not work out here either ! Cruel, Fallen World ! 🌿
These are all great, but my #1 is and will always be the six-part harmony of The Association singing Never My Love, particularly the bridge, which is only four measures long.
Another list please, at least two more, maybe. 🎶❤️ The harmonies of the Everly Brothers influenced The Beatles, The Beach Boys and so many more, plus related people's harmonies are always more amazing and again there are so many to choose from, for example you completely forgot the Bee Gees entire catalogue, from the 1960s onwards. 🎶
Pure Prairie League's "Amie" (1972) and Moody Blues' "Tuesday Afternoon" (1968) always give me the feels -- the kind of songs that cause me to stop whatever I'm doing and listen all the through to the end -- if on the radio and I arrive at my destination, I'll stay in the car listening to the end!! 👍💯
My father inlaw who lived to be 102 was a part of the " Wrecking Crew" Phil Spector's go to Hollywood studio group. He played string instruments and was part of many of these songs. Funny thing is of the hundreds of songs, albums and shows he played on jazz was his favorite music. He also wrote and played the theme song for Green Acres and the Wild Wild West. RIP Bill Pitman.
Boys II Men “Motown Philly”, Patience and Prudence “Tonight You Belong to Me”, Az Yet “Hard to Say I’m Sorry”, Rufus Wainwright with Martha Wainwright as back up “April Fools”, Robert and Jonny “We Belong Together”
Queen and Boston are also well known for the musicality of their harmonies. I never hear good music of any kind without thinking of my mom, a humble piano teacher, who taught me to love and take joy in beautiful music. Thanks Mom!
Two other notable omissions are any one of several big hits by Chad & Jeremy (Yesterday's Gone, A Summer Song, or Can't Get Used To Losing You), or Peter and Gordon doing World Without Love.
@@paulhare662 "Say You Will"? I looked through Walter Egan's entire discography & couldn't find this. I know that she & Lindsey Buckingham sang with Egan on "Magnet & Steel".
Dolly, Linda, and EmmyLou With "To Know Him" and "After the Gold Rush" ; Pentatonix on "Hallelujah", and Joni harmonizing with herself on "Raised on Robbery."
I can't stop at ten Southern Cross by CSNY Africa by Toto More than Words by Extreme Killer Queen by Queen Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys All I Have to Do Is Dream by The Everly Brothers Seven Bridges Road by The Eagles Paperback Writer by The Beatles High Enough by Damn Yankees California Dreamin by The Mamas and the Papas Alone by Heart It's All Right by Huey Lewis and the News The Longest Time by Billy Joel And people are going to hate me for this We Built this City by Starship. Man, you can hate this song all you want, but that's one of the most iconic harmonies in history. It's just so obnoxiously perfect. Mickey Williams and Grace Slick had voices that went together so perfectly, probably the best duet in history. Too bad they didn't make better songs.
No song gives the chills like your #7 pick God Only Knows. It's a masterclass in vocal harmonies as is their Wouldn't It Be Nice. The Beach Boys are the very tippy top of the toppermost.
Especially the video version in the studio that speaks to Brian's drive for exactly the way he wanted it performed. THEN listen to the finished product. Yup. Chills.
Excellent list of classics! If you do a top 20 list, please add anything by Queen, unless they deserve a list all their own. They have so many superb songs with such spin-chilling, haunting harmonies its hard to keep track.
Bee Gees - "Too Much Heaven" Crosby, Stills and Nash - "Wasted on the Way" Styx - "The Best of Times" James Taylor - "Carolina in My Mind" Little River Band - "Lady" Paul Anka & Peter Cetera - "Hold Me Till the Morning Comes" REO Speedwagon - "Can't Fight This Feeling" Just a few you left off the list...
Also listen to the Modernaires and the Pied Pipers with Frank Sinatra and Jo Stanford. Also the awesome doowop 50s 60s harmony groups like the Platters, Diamonds, Four Aces, Four Lads, Coasters, Drifters, Dion & the Belmonts. All these groups exhibited superb tight harmonies. Please consider them.
Phil Spector was a genius with his wall of music. I was just a kid, but every single one of his songs just blew my mind. I loved his harmonies. I loved everything about them. And, the Beach Boy harmonies were so much better than the Beetles. While other teens were going crazy for them, I was sticking with The Beaxh Boys! ABBA came much later, but they were great, too! And the BeeGees! So many more!
I'm surprised something by Earth, Wind, and Fire hasn't been mentioned, like "After the Love Is Gone." Great harmonies. Also, The Lettermen had a great blend of harmonies.
I was watching a beachboys documentary a few years back and it went in depth on how the harmonies of the Lettermen were perhaps the greatest influence on young Brian Wilson as he would play the Letterman albums for days at a time and spoke of this in an interview. Naturally I then had to begin listening to them and wow, it's amazing. It's almost like Brian is doing the arrangements for them. Glad I saw that documentary and have added the Lettermen on my "harmony-centric" playlist along with the Beachboys, CSNY, 3 Dog Night, Queen. ABBA, Bee Gees, Momma's & Poppa's, Cowsills, E.W and Fire, The Association, Peter-Paul& Mary, Certain Beatle songs with lush vocal arrangements, Manhattan Transfer, and a good grouping of individual songs that have harmonic magic.
I'm back and just realized you didn't mention Roy Orbinson singing "Crying" or "Blue Angle" which always nails me to the wall and brings wet eyes. But as you know we could go on all day and night giving examples but your picks are all warranted and thanks~!!!
I know The Eagles are here, but I think New Kid In Town is their best harmonic song, in that it is subtle but perfect (to my ears). Honourable mention could go to Genesis. Phil Collins understanding of harmony is wonderful on some songs.
Home Free is doing covers of so many of these songs. And they knock them out of the park! Their harmonies are amazing. And the fact that they are also Acapella makes their music even more thrilling! ("All I have to Do is Dream" was my husband and my theme song. And, yes, those years were more innocent for most of us than today.)
Unclear how you could not have Queen (Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, Somebody To Love) on this list. Also the Bee Gees (Too Much Heaven), and Kansas (Dust in the Wind).
At one point a group I was in tried to master the harmony on Suite: Judy Blue Eyes and never quite made it (CSN) - maybe Helpless for CSNY? Then there was Carry On - so many.......
Songs you should have included: Good Vibrations, Wendy, I Get Around, Fun, Fun, Fun, Don't Worry Baby - The Beach Boys Suite Judy Blue Eyes, Teach Your Children - Crosby Stills and Nash something from the Association most likely , " Along Come Mary ". The Beatles of course. The Beatles were all about harmony and you got that one right. You could have included many others by the Beatles. Many artists continued into and throughout the 70s projecting the same vibe Crosby Stills and Nash comes to mind.

All the Gold in California by the Gatlin Brothers, and Turn Around by Foster and Lloyd are two that I'd put on your list.
Kansas- carry on my wayward son.
Anything by The Seekers, but particularly The Carnival is Over and Morningtown Ride, Anything by Steeleye Span, but particularly All Around My Hat and King Henry. Anything by Jethro Tull, but particularly Skating Away and Songs from the Wood.
Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft by The Carpenters and Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf, also hit me hard.
None of these, but I thank you for trying.
I can't believe The Carpenters aren't on this list. Their harmonies are gorgeous, especially We've Only Just Begun.
Karen's harmonies with Richard (and herself) are just magical. Can't agree with you more.
💯
Right!!? I’m sorry but The Carpenters vocals were top tier!
Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft😅
"Top of the World"
I would have expected the Bee Gees to have a spot in this line up!
They didn’t even mention QUEEN! Absolute crap list!
💯!! Inimitable harmonies by The Bee Gees.
Exactly!
This is a crummy list, and the commentary is annoying.
You overlooked the Hollies' He Ain't Heavy (he's my brother)

Case had a wonderful voice, to be sure, but this is about harmony. John Philipps had his faults, there’s no denying, but he was who arranged those beautiful harmonies. My favorite, TWELVE THIRTY.
@@marvinmeeker5765 Yes it is. Kudos to John Phillips, as well as everyone involved. When a song comes together as beautifully as California Dreamin" It's like capturing lightning in a bottle.
@@marvinmeeker5765Mine, too!
There are so many awesome harmony songs that it is impossible to agree on a top 10 list.
I agree. It should have been done as a top 20, or even a top 25. Even then it's difficult to compare groups. They all had their versions of beautiful harmony. The number one pick is totally up to individual taste.
That is true. I thought for sure Little River Band would at least get an honorable mention here. Talk about some amazing harmonies!
Amen to that.
Queen, Bee Gees and the Carpenters and BoysIIMen (End of the Road!) should all be on this list.
Down on Bended Knee was my favorite by Boyz Ii men.
I love Queen, the Bee Gees and the Carpenters as well and was surprised to not find them on this list. For more recent groups I'd go with Pentatonix, Home Free and Voice play. There's a lot to choose from for sure.
Most of Queen's harmonies were: Freddie, Freddie, Freddie, Freddie, Roger & Brian.
I understand music is subjective, but no Bee Gees or Carpenters? Hmmm….
Boys to Men are AWESOME!
My father loved Country, my mother loved folk & 50/60s pop. Forever grateful that music was almost always playing in the home and that we were each encouraged to find our own favourite music.
My favorite is and always will be the Eagles and Seven Bridges Road. Five guys with very different voices singing in absolutely perfect harmony!!
Your picks are spot on! As a child of the 50's ,60's and 70's these are bring back a lot of memories!!
This list should at least include one song by the Hollies.
Their harmonization is really something to behold!
Especially live. How well they pulled off those harmonies on stage was *astonishing.*
There's a couple You Tube videos of them performing live on the BBC in 1969. Incredible!@@ballhawk387
No surprise: Graham Nash.
Yeah, this video needed 20 spots, they left a lot of bands off. Aside from all the other more obvious Hollies tunes, "I Can't Let Go" always gave me chills.
The Hollies, almost all their songs but "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" is my favorite.
That song is my all-time favorite along with The Whole of the Moon by The Waterboys!
I loved the Hollies, but hated that song. Much prefer "Look Through Any Window", has great harmonies.
Conspicuous by their absence is The Manhattan Transfer. There are so many of their songs that have gorgeous harmonies it’s hard to pick one. I think I’ll go with candy, but you can go to virtually any of their albums and find beautiful harmonies.
I especially love "Operator" but there are lots of good ones from them.
Manhattan Transfer is not listed because they would take up all 10 slots... Shaker... Birdland... Nightingale sang in Barkley Square... I could go on and on The best harmonies in the last 60 years!
Saw them in Copenhagen in 1989,at Tivoli Garden
You missed the Carpenters. Karen's voice was exquisite and paired with her brother's superb arrangements and overdubbing created a completely new sound in harmonies.
Scarborough Fair gives me chills. Not just for the intricate harmonies they have seemingly weave the song but for what the song means ! True Love will not work out here either !
Cruel, Fallen World ! 🌿
These are all great, but my #1 is and will always be the six-part harmony of The Association singing Never My Love, particularly the bridge, which is only four measures long.
I forgot about that one! Fantastic song
And Cherish!
yes, such a beautiful song! Never grows old!
10 Just isn't enough how can you have this list without the ASSOCIATION ,every thing they did fits perfectly
Another list please, at least two more, maybe. 🎶❤️
The harmonies of the Everly Brothers influenced The Beatles, The Beach Boys and so many more, plus related people's harmonies are always more amazing and again there are so many to choose from, for example you completely forgot the Bee Gees entire catalogue, from the 1960s onwards. 🎶
Why bother desiring another video? If they’re so stupid they didn’t prominently feature The Beach Boys and Queen, it’s obvious they’re stupid.
Boys II Men “Motown Philly”, Patience and Prudence “Tonight You Belong to Me”, Az Yet “Hard to Say I’m Sorry”, Rufus Wainwright with Martha Wainwright as back up “April Fools”, Robert and Jonny “We Belong Together”
yesss 👏🏽👏🏽
Backstreet Boys "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely".
Anybody remember We Five? That was gorgeous, just flawlessly blended harmonic layering. When I Woke Up This Morning . . .
Yes!
You were on my mind.
100% agree!
I’ve recently been listening to America a lot.
A Horse With No Name
Ventura Highway
Very nice harmonies there.
Love America.
One of my Favorites.
Queen and Boston are also well known for the musicality of their harmonies. I never hear good music of any kind without thinking of my mom, a humble piano teacher, who taught me to love and take joy in beautiful music. Thanks Mom!
How could I forget 'Suite Judy Blue Eyes'--Crosby, Stills, and Nash!!!!
Hello, Queen? Bohemian Rhapsody? Killer Queen? Somebody To Love? Not even an honorable mention!
How did the Wilson Phillips miss the list, they are such good harmonies
What? No "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips or "Sweet Judy Blue Eyes" by CSNY? You missed several harmonic gems in making this list I'm afraid.
The list can go on and on. Wilson Phillips has amazing harmonies.
Only so many songs they can include. And music is subjective
I do agree with Suite: Judy Blue Eyes
Suite Judy Blue eyes is a nuts oversight
They only picked 10. You want those on a list make one too. Theres many MANY good songs that could have been on this
Mr. Sandman, even though it is older, has always amazed me with its harmonies.
Two other notable omissions are any one of several big hits by Chad & Jeremy (Yesterday's Gone, A Summer Song, or Can't Get Used To Losing You), or Peter and Gordon doing World Without Love.
I can't believe you left off The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie & Lindsey Buckingham harmonize beautifully together.
I was coming in to say this. Thank you.
Check out Walter Egan with Stevie Nicks, "Say You Will"
@@paulhare662 "Say You Will"? I looked through Walter Egan's entire discography & couldn't find this. I know that she & Lindsey Buckingham sang with Egan on "Magnet & Steel".
@@WrenFaithBridger Won't you say you will. Sorry. It's on the Fundamental Roll LP. Just found it here on You Tube.
Check out Stevie Nicks duet with Kenny Logins
Whenever I call you friend
Dolly, Linda, and EmmyLou With "To Know Him" and "After the Gold Rush" ; Pentatonix on "Hallelujah", and Joni harmonizing with herself on "Raised on Robbery."
The Trio were truly great! One of my favorites by them was "The Sweetest Gift".
yah: After The Gold Rush is #1 on my list for pure harmony
For me it's always "Southern Cross" Crosby, Stills and Nash. Love the harmonies.
Wooden Ships was also darn good.
I can't stop at ten
Southern Cross by CSNY
Africa by Toto
More than Words by Extreme
Killer Queen by Queen
Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys
All I Have to Do Is Dream by The Everly Brothers
Seven Bridges Road by The Eagles
Paperback Writer by The Beatles
High Enough by Damn Yankees
California Dreamin by The Mamas and the Papas
Alone by Heart
It's All Right by Huey Lewis and the News
The Longest Time by Billy Joel
And people are going to hate me for this
We Built this City by Starship. Man, you can hate this song all you want, but that's one of the most iconic harmonies in history. It's just so obnoxiously perfect. Mickey Williams and Grace Slick had voices that went together so perfectly, probably the best duet in history. Too bad they didn't make better songs.
We don't hate you! 🙂
Seven Bridges Road gives me chills every time.
En Vogue also has amazing harmonies, I especially enjoy them in Free Your Mind.
Don't Let Go still resonates
Yes! Their "Who's Loving You" before "Hold On" gives me literal chills
@@BlackQueenA1825 Also same with their harmonies in Never Gonna Get It
@@NYChica23 Came here to say this. Along with Telephone Line by ELO
Or Whatta Man.
Of course the Beach Boys have to be on this list, but what about Good Vibrations? That's the one that gets me every time.
Almost as great as 'God Only Knows'.
As far as harmony, "In my room" is just as good. Plus "I can hear music" and "Don't Worry Baby"... Too many to pick just one.
Agreed. I really love that one (and will sing along with it).
Of all the Beach Boy's songs the one with the best harmonies is Wendy. Wendy left me alone, hurts so bad
I'm in Paul McCartney's camp. God Only Knows.
Yup. Chills.
You are absolutely right!
A kid of the 60s here, nice selection. Real voices instead of processed garbage.
I played "God Only Knows" at my wife's funeral. It still makes me cry. Like right now.
Excellent list of classics! If you do a top 20 list, please add anything by Queen, unless they deserve a list all their own. They have so many superb songs with such spin-chilling, haunting harmonies its hard to keep track.
I agree! Queen has wonderful harmonies
YES!! And they never mentioned The Bee Gees! Both groups are very well known for their vocal harmonies.
No Queen on this list is blasphemy…
Queen sounds like a crowd! Especially in songs like Somebody to love
The final section of Cherish is amazing vocal harmony
This is a good pick, as well.
Absolutely. So powerful. Gives me chills.
I’m glad that Because was included. The harmony is so dreamy and complex.
Bee Gees - "Too Much Heaven"
Crosby, Stills and Nash - "Wasted on the Way"
Styx - "The Best of Times"
James Taylor - "Carolina in My Mind"
Little River Band - "Lady"
Paul Anka & Peter Cetera - "Hold Me Till the Morning Comes"
REO Speedwagon - "Can't Fight This Feeling"
Just a few you left off the list...
"I am a Man of Constant Sorrows" gets me every time.
I'm really surprised that Eternal Flame by the Bangles was not on there because that song can be very haunting when you hear it.
This list needs a part 2
*DO YOU AGREE WITH ME*
Definitely!
I think this is part 2 - at best
Yeah, there are way too many songs with awesome vocal harmony to fit in a 13 minute video.
Totally agree!!! 👍👍✅
The harmonies of Danny, Cory and Chuck are what made Three Dog Night one of the best.
Three Dog Night "Easy To Be Hard!"
While I agree with all of these picks, I feel that En Vogue (pretty much anything) should have also been mentioned. Their harmonizing was amazing.
Their entire second album gives me chills! Funky Divas indeed!
Excellent!
There will never be harmonies like Phil and Don's, they were and still are the very best.
I'm back and just realized you didn't mention Roy Orbinson singing "Crying" or "Blue Angle" which always nails me to the wall and brings wet eyes. But as you know we could go on all day and night giving examples but your picks are all warranted and thanks~!!!
Sha la la dooby wah, dum dum dum, yep yep dum, wah wah wah wahhhh.
I think Toto should have been included, there 4 part harmonies on africa are amazing
Hard to believe you missed Peter, Paul and Mary, Manhattan Transfer, and The Bee Gees. These groups were all about harmony.
Bee Gees. Everything they did truly amazing.
I’d include CSNY on some of the greatest harmonies ever.
Dito
At one point a group I was in tried to master the harmony on Suite: Judy Blue Eyes and never quite made it (CSN) - maybe Helpless for CSNY? Then there was Carry On - so many.......
Helplessly Hoping
Absolutely. There are many CSN songs with wonderful harmony, and they were big hits too.
Just like Ronnie sang “Be my little baby, baby my darlin, oh oh oh”. Great list 💖🙌🏼
Ronnie is great but how about the Shirelles? "Will you Still Love Me Tomorrow" is very emotional if sung as a ballad without the bop.
I did not know that Ronnie sang all the parts on that song!
The list is 60s and 70s heavy, proving that the BEST music came from those periods
Songs you should have included:
Good Vibrations, Wendy, I Get Around, Fun, Fun, Fun, Don't Worry Baby - The Beach Boys
Suite Judy Blue Eyes, Teach Your Children - Crosby Stills and Nash
something from the Association most likely , " Along Come Mary ".
The Beatles of course. The Beatles were all about harmony and you got that one right. You could have included many others by the Beatles.
Many artists continued into and throughout the 70s projecting the same vibe Crosby Stills and Nash comes to mind.
