This version has more hunger and passion than the original which was more ethereal. I like the original. I love listening to this time and time again. Violet's low registers particularly get to me. And how Dan Vasc painted this song and Victor laid it out for us is incredible.
There is nothing left to be desired on Dan's version of this song. This was performed with perfection.

Seal sang a gorgeous song in 1994. I've always loved it. But this! This is magnificent!!! I hope you'll listen to it again without interruption and really feel the power. Thank You for your spirit of joy in hearing this duet. I have heard it several times and you pointed out some new things for me. I never could have imagined that any female would be able to hold their own with his voice, but Dan is so brilliant in arrangements and thoughtful to all of his collaborators, that it always sounds perfectly balanced in volume and technique. When I first heard this cover, I went and listened to Seal's version after many years of not bothering with it. It's too sleepy. This cover is so much better. So much more energy.

Yowza. Seal's is lovemaking, but Dan and Violet are far hotter. I am being polite here. Great choice, super reaction. Dan did a super job not over-singing his duet partner, and with his super strong vocals that had to have been hard, but Violet does not shrink at all.

Violet Orlandi and Leo Moracchioli's collab on Roxette's Listen to Your Heart on Leo's Frog Leap channel is outstanding. I think you'd enjoy it. You've already reacted to some of Violet's work with Halocene, Lauren Babic, Audra Miller, etc. Those were great as well.
The "Renaissance" feel you describe comes primarily from the 3/4 time signature. This song is a Waltz.
Violet has done lots of collaborations and she is always a standout. I hope you find some of them.

It’s Violet’s video featuring Dan. I listened to another one of hers with Dan’salso. Victor ia soooo good, he’s plays on a lot of Dan’s songs.

I loved the tension in this version. Seal's version was polished, as you say, but I hadn't realized how downright sexy this song was until I heard Dan and Violet's version.

Violet Orlando's vocals are incredible. This song barely scratches the surface. She has some incredible videos out there to really showcase her ability. I HIGHLY recommend her cover of Chris Isaac's Wicked Game. It is a complete solo and stripped down to really show her vocal range. Hauntingly beautiful

I love your reactions and have heard your concerns about how Dan pushes his voice. According to an interview he warms his voice up the day before and then doesn't speak to anyone after the recording. It's part of the reason he prefers doing his videos to live performances.
Absolutely one of my favorite covers, definitely check out more from Violet, she is up there as one of my favorite vocalists period. Check out her "Wicked Game" cover or her newer(because she has two of them) cover of "Like a Stone".
They did a version of "Patience" on Violet's channel - equally marvelous!!!!!
I absolutely despised the original, but both this version and Dan's solo cover in 2016 and 2017 are absolutely amazing!

Violet Orlandi continues to amaze. What is up with that lower register of hers? It sounds like she's dropped her larynx a bit to deepen her timbre and bring some weight to the lyric. I still prefer Seal's original, but I really enjoyed this. And I always enjoy your insights, Ken! I had this crazy idea just now that I'd love to hear you cover September Song, by Kurt Weill. I think you have the control in your mix to bring some nuance to it. Please consider taking a run at it. I was wondering when you get back to Violet, it's been over two years since you reacted to ' Don't Stop Believing' and 'Chop Suey".
This was my favourite period of hers, the songs she put out including the album she redacted due to label issues were some of her best work. I will say that her current sound doesn't resonate with me as much, but I'm still a fan.
I am with you on this sentiment, I still adore Violet but her current musical choices don't vibe with me much anymore. Her sound choices seemed to have shifted rather drastically after she got a stable band working with her on the regular so maybe their influences rubbed off or maybe she just wanted a change on her own.
One good thing we can find this on Vasc Channel way to many comments breaking up a fantastic song
That "Beach Boys" reference to me is a reminder how we used to sing in school. Was called a "round". Singing different lines of a song but ending at the same time. Or am I wrong?

Dan's voice is great and all but for me I think I would have rather had a cover fully by Voilet. His voice just doesn't have the same feeling as the original but Voilets does imo
