Never heard this before. You can really tell some of Zep's influences by hearing this. When Plant sings in the song Rock n Roll ..."It's been a long time since I rock and rolled" he is quite serious and nostalgic I believe. They were growing up listening to Little Richard ..Chuck Berry ...Elvis etc. and I am sure it had quite an impact on them.

I really like Bonham’s use of the hi-hat on this one. A lot of 90’s bands used the stabbing effect of opening and closing the hi-hat simple but works really well as a dynamic. Roger Taylor used to do something similar but would choke the cymbal instead.

Whichever songs they play from other artistes sound even better than the original! Probably because I'm a Led Zeppelin/rock music fan. However, THIS one is pretty "lightweight" when compared to their renditions of Eddie Cochran's Somethin' Else & C'mon Everybody!
Saw them the first time in '72 in Seattle. They played this. The concert was nearly four hours!
I'm 71 years old this is the first time I heard this song from the Led Zeppelin that is

Sad it didn't stay that way...and UK "noise on a budget ' took over part of the market...Those early guys are Holly Grail of good music
First time I've heard this as well. Great sound quality. Whatever show this is should be released in full.
Page played on the original track
Heard a bit of hot dog in there too.
I haven't heard this song since I was a teenager. I'm 60 now and I'm happy that I found it.

Fantastic! Never heard Zep play this before!
Led Zeppelin the Great.
They are the best rock band of all time!!
they played this during a medley of tunes when i saw them in Portland 1972.
I saw them in Seattle the next Nite, I remember them doing Mary Lou!!
Excellent interprétation de cette chanson, Robert Plant merveilleux comme toujours
parfaitement grande interprétation de Robert plant vous connaissez la version de Ricky Nelson elle est aussi bien Robert plant je le suis depuis ses débuts
Wow this was great, first time I've ever heard led zeppelin cover this tune. All there cover versions were excellant🌿👑🇬🇧.
The last year Robert’s voice was this pristine..
& the last year @rickg8015 had more than 2 functional brain cells.
Yep. Well, mostly. It was good through the America tour ending in June 1972. In Japan in October his voice started cracking.
His voice for the most part has been good but agree he never sounded as good as he past 72
I think he changed technically something and it changed his sound
WOW! that was outstanding...
Zeppelin does Nelson! Can’t believe it! Bravo!!!!
I love this song ! So happy led zeppelin played a version 👏
The quality is key. I’ll take any zep I’ve never heard before but really enjoy when it’s clear. Great great job.
Right up there with "Boogie with Stu".😎

This is great, and why was it unheard of before (when they were popular, the 70's era)...?

I've been listening since they hit the states, where has this been hiding?
Rocking some Ricky Nelson! Totally unexpected!

There's a straight line from this to Hot Dog some 6 years later
Took me forever to find just this song, and not the "Whole Lotta Love" melody that it's in. Thanks!
thie is the best performance of this song, plants voice sounds great!
This is actually part of the Whole Lotta Love medley. I believe it's from How the West Was Won.
Bonham is just an amazing drummer... Just listen to his groove
CCRで大好きな曲です。レコーディングして欲しかったです!!w
Wish Robert had this voice in 1975 to sing Kashmir and other PG songs.
Jeff Beck used to tease Jimmy Page for carrying around his James Burton Fan Club Membership in his wallet!
Led Zep - Hot Dog That's what it sounds like, very similar XD

Released on BB sessions
These guys are my #1 but I can't decide if I like this or CCR's version better. They're both great bands.

James Burton played on the original. Jimmy Page was a fan; makes sense. I think I heard them do this on some low quality bootleg, this is way better.
Great cover. But I miss the cowbell of Ricky Nelson's version.
This is so reminiscent of Hot Dog
