      Dell should hire you as a consultant and advisor to keep the XPS on top, and to explain all of it's capabilities in everyday terms, people can understand.

    The 9570 4k display has no HDR support, correct? What color depth has it? Just 6bit? Just 8bit? Does it has PWM flickering if not at 100% brightness? If you have 1080 content on it, does it look bad like washed out and blurry because of the down-sample? Does it have HDMI 2.1 output?

    Another awesome video mate. Well done. I have a simple question for you though. How do you think the battery will last considering I will have it plugged in to mains power 99% of the time. I have an Alienware M17xR4 at the moment with the battery removed. I was told by some people that if you have your Laptop plugged in all the time you should remove the battery... What are your thoughts on that?

    Great video, been waiting on this. I get my XPS 15 Wednesday, but what's crazy is that I sold my MacBook pro 15 for $2400 and was able to pick up the highest end i7 with 16 gb ram and 512 gb along with PC I'm gonna build with a i7 8700k with a 1070ti and it all only cost a little over what the MacBook cost me lol. MacBooks are stupid expensive! But how's the wifi card? I've heard the killer card is not the best...

    Great Video!!!
    Do you think it makes more sense to edit photos on an external SSD? I am getting the XPS with 1TB M2 this week. I also have a 1 TB Samsung T5 external SSD and am still deciding on which drive I will be able to edit faster in lightroom.....Of course, using the internal drive is more comfortable. But if there is a speed gain in using the external one, I will really need to think about it. I just can't really believe that the External one will be faster, since it only has about 400mb/s read and write speed over usb....

    • @TallyHoTech
      @TallyHoTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      100% it better to have your footage or library on an external SSD rather than your Windows OS drive.

    Dude, one more thing to do if you really want to round the bases on this badass machine: go grab that Wacom pen. Open Settings, select System, and then Display. Scroll down to Orientation and select Lanscape (flipped). Carefully set the machine laying back on its lid, with the keyboard sticking up into the air. Make sure it’s a clean surface, maybe even put a cloth down to protect the surface of the lid. Could also brace the keyboard somehow. But then... do some drawing. I bet if you can get past the initial awkwardness, you’ll discover an amazing art, drafting, and design experience there. ;)

    What about the longevity of this device? I've been hearing lots of quality control complaints about the XPS laptops dying after a year of usage or facing multiple issues like swelling batteries, screen ghosting, motherboard issues and SSD failures. If I get this laptop now, will I be able to use it for the next 3-4 years?

    So you'd still recommend the XPS 9570 over Lenovo's X1 Extreme? It's been a toss up for me as I want to make the right choice (and after seeing some recent support issues in the Lenovo forum, as in, Jan 2 this year, I think I'll stick with Dell) but wanted another perspective.

    Hows your killer wifi card? Mine has been an issue from the go and Dell had the nerve to tell me it's a software issue and I would have to pay them for support despite the laptop being 24 hours old. Also, any issues seeing network computers? They never show despite hours of troubleshooting... very frustrated with Dell over my 9570. Surface Book 2 works without issues on the network but I got the XPS for the 6 core power.

    • @TallyHoTech
      @TallyHoTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had no issues. That's bullshit too. They should know some people have issue with it. Try the latest driver from Killer itself. Is it 5GHz or 2.4GHz? Try changing the channel in your wifi router. If those soloutiobs don't solve it. You can put an Intel wifi card in it or wait for a driver update to fix it which I'm sure will come out soon enough

    • @MrNofear72784
      @MrNofear72784 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was late last night so I'm going to try again with a US support team member on the phone today. I tried both networks, still dropping every 20 seconds like clockwork. Updated the driver manually, network reset, no changes. I have a new Intel card but would like to be able to at least update windows to see if it stabilizes before I crack it open. It was a 2 hour ordeal just to get someone who understood the issue. Longtime happy Dell user but so far I'm not a happy guy. Seeing yours working is making me want to push through the issues. If they would send me a copy of 10 pro I would just start over. The last person I spoke with said network discovery is an issue they've seen a bit of but most users aren't using remote desktop connections so it's not a big deal. Granted that was the end of our conversation. Thanks for the response!

      Undrvolting if anything will increase the longevity of the cpu. Less voltage means less stress. Only downside is if undervolt by to much it becomes unstable

    Sincere Thanks for your content. You have convinced me to buy XPS 15 9570, which I am going to use for coding. Now I have question: I have a 512 GB samsung SSD and I've planed to use it in Dell XPS 15. As I understood, I have to go for the smaller battery. I am planning to buy the i7 FHD Modell. Does the smaller battery hold enough for my purposes? I won't game on it. Many thanks for your efforts and content.

    • @TallyHoTech
      @TallyHoTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So your talking two and a half inch SSD? If so yes you need the small battery model and the with the FHD version with small battery the battery life will be good

    • @murphy_boy
      @murphy_boy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Western Gents United thanks for your response. Yes, you guessed correctly. I am going to add a 2.5 inch SSD to the pre-installed NVMe SSD. I believe that the i5 8300H without dGPU is also enough for my case. But in Germany, that model comes only with bigger battery and 1050. Primarily, I am going to use Linux and write code on it. As you mentioned, the small battery is going to suffice with FHD monitor.

    Have you had a problem with the color calibration? I recently bought the dell xps 15 9570 and notice any photsos I edit, when i format it and look at it on any other device (phone, other monitors) it looks less saturated. So i have to over saturate everything on the laptop to make it just how i want it on any other device.

    Since the main factor, the AERO15X has over the XPS15 is the GPU, could you make a side by side comparison editing Cineform?
    Cineform is graphically accelerated so it takes advantage of the GPU for video encoding giving back the upper hand the AERO looses with the i7 instead of the i9.

      Well done good choice. If you’re doing simple edits. Power Director or Filmora. Are you doing 1080p? Windows has a built in video editing. You could also try Avid Media composer (free version) or davinci resolve which is free too. I use Premiere but it’s expensive

      No problems. I would try the free ones first. In this order
      Hitfilm express
      Short cut
      If you’re more advanced
      I would go
      Avid media composer
      Davinci resolve
      If you want to pay
      PowerDirector to start with
      But if you’re more advanced
      and don’t mind paying more
      Premiere Pro is my fav but too expensive or Premiere Elements (which is cheaper and worth starting with)
      Try the built in one with windows 10 if you have the latest win 10.

What can I do to fix this?? Also, when I try and change the color gamut using Dell Premium Color the contrast changes but the colors seem to stay the same, for example when I change from Vibrant to sRBG, nothing changes. you thinking what I am thinking? it will be a useful comparison to do a head to head with your desktop 7900X. I will not rule out if the XPS wins on video rendering, given that it has an iGPU while the 7900X does not and we all know Premiere does not scale well beyond 6-8 cores, so it might not gain much from the additional two-four in your desktop.

    • @TallyHoTech

I need to edit raw 2.5k and 1080p Blackmagic multicam footage on the go when I shoot events (I edit in the car and/or plane.) hi mate, I had some free time, and I was playing with my Asus ZenBook Pro (16gb, 7700hq, 1050ti), and I downloaded the same clip from red and thougth of sharing my findings for comparison. directly with red footage, at full I got 319 dropped frames. at 1/2 resolution got 210 dropped frames; at 1/4 resolution I got zero dropped frames. but then things got interesting, after being transcoded to CineForm 10bit color, it played it back with zero dropped frames at full (to be honest, I got like zero dropped frames half the times, and about 2 or 3 dropped frames other times). To me it made sense as CineForm is GPU friendly, so offloads part of the burden to the GPU and the ZenBook Pro has also the 1050Ti. I noticed with CineForm RAM usages goes up, poor Zenbook pro suffers with its soldered 16Gb ram.

      Just wait, that is normal with dell, not surprise if they postpone it again. I'm saying this because I also ordered the xps 9570 and they postponed it from May 28 to June 7
