There you go, you have done it again. Taking something that anybody else would have thrown away in a heartbeat and turned it into something beautiful. That’s one of the things I admire about you. Phil is that you can see potential in a lot of things where other people don’t and that really is a skill :-)

Hi Phil, I am with you on keeping the textured top surface; it shows a lovely contrast against the smooth finish in the bowl and on the underside. I am currently enjoying making some bowls/ platters/ dishes in what I like to think of as my 'inspired by Phil' style, trying to leave as much Nature as I can. It's fun!

Hey Phil, I always knew you were taking the "pith"! And you're doing that magic thing again - the wood is spinning and you have your bowl gouge pointing at NOTHING but chunks of wood are flying off - MAGIC!
And once again, a Phil Anderson special - very little turning, and let the wood speak for itself!! Excellent!!

I just finished watching your video on the small piece of Oak that Tuffy sent you and you turned a Beautiful bowl. Small things when you do it, turns out with results no one thought possible. A very stunning piece again from the Master. Tuffy & Valery knows how to challenge you with the things they send you. As i said I throw very little wood away. At this time I turn a lot of smaller items, this allows me to incorporate a lot more of my creative nature into my projects. KEEP ON TURNING

I was yelling round over the bowl edge. I’m with you Phil it looks like the piece was split with an ax as it has a really cool ripple look to the top. Then you showed the finished top I could really see the ripples. It is a beautiful candy dish for sure.
    Thanks for the show.

Mr Phil, I can't imagine how anybody would have a single complaint about your work. I've yet to see one of your masterpieces that I do not like.
This particular piece is just full of originality and I love it. The best feature, in my opinion, is the one feature I don't think I've seen you put on a piece until now; that textured top. That texture on the top makes the whole piece. Along with the live edge, it simply adds to the character of the piece as a whole.
I love your vision on this piece and pretty much every piece of art you turn out. It's truly amazing.

Phil, Challenge met and successfully conquered. It was my chainsaw that left those marks when I cut the thick pith slice out of the log. Usually I cut a pith slice in two along the pith, but this one was too pretty to turn into waste wood. Since the pith was actually pretty tight and solid, I figured you might enjoy playing with it. Well done!
