      I still have not had an answer regarding the potentiometers in the yoke!

    • @lewiswhite8913
      @lewiswhite8913 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcdraco2189 What do you wanna know? There's a fix for the firmware deadzone present from the factory, if you have a search on how to set it to calibration mode. It's all very secretive but it's out there on YT. I re-set mine and it's so much better.

    • @marcdraco2189
      @marcdraco2189 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lewiswhite8913 I know all of this Lew. Electronics used to be my specialty and I was trained in electronic quality control. I'm fully aware of these dead zone issues and that's not the problem. Very briefly, the problem is in the type of potentiometers they're using. They're CHEAP nasty things - unless they changed since the last production shots I've seen. They are prone to breaking down and "jittering".
      Now while I'd prefer to use "hall" sensors (my own designs do) but pots are simpler and easier to implement.
      I'm just finishing off a fairly large open source Arduino project and when that's done, I'm tuning my attention to see if it's possible to improve these issues with better parts - which is easy for Honeycomb to do - but it's a potentially simple retro fit.
      I'm cross because people swoon over the kit which LOOKS marvelous - and because of that (we) tend to overlook the shortcomings like the fairly cheap feel to the switches and the ... wait BUNGEE for the spring loading?
      This is another tricky one but I suspect someone better at the physical hardware than I am (which is almost everyone) could improve this weakness too.

    • @lewiswhite8913
      @lewiswhite8913 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcdraco2189 True true. I've seen elsewhere someone upgraded his in a similar way, instigated by the deadzone issue. I honestly find it fine as is for its purpose, you could notice jitters looking at raw input data but it doesn't translate to problems controlling planes in the sim. I'm more keen for an arduino/teensy project to make a GA throttle/prop/mix box with linear pots :)

    Now that you've got a proper yoke and throttle you're pretty much forced to get rudder pedals.
    And of course once you get that far into sim flying you're going to HAVE to get some sort of head tracking.
    And once you've got the full setup, it would be crazy NOT to pick up a 3080 video card to use the high graphics settings at high framerates.
    At that point, all you'll need is a bigger monitor or a multi screen setup.
    Hope you saved up when you were working steady. lol

    You seem very comfortable with this set up...I wonder why 🤔 Love that you set it up for left seat - of course - and I noticed you seemed very at home with your left thumb on the trim wheel. Great camera angles too! Well done Capt. Emilie!

    Cats and young kids sure do love empty boxes 😀. Great video. I just bought the Saitek yoke, throttle quadrant, and rudder peddles and they work awesome!! It is so much more realistic. I added the elevator trim to the mixture leaver instead of one of the yoke switches and it made a huge difference on my landings. I have so much more control and can trim the aircraft out perfectly. Looks like the Honeycomb bravo throttle quadrant is taking it even to the next level.

    Got a nice somewhat challenging airport to fly into. Sitka Alaska, Rocky Gutierrez Airport. It’s served by Alaska Airlines with 737 jet service.
    The airport is on an island and can get winds across the runway since the winds come right off the water.
    Or the airport in Juneau Alaska, with mountains all around. Good challenging airports for GA aircraft or 737’s which normally fly in and out.
    Love your videos, keep em coming.

    Hey beautiful. I love to watch you do these unboxings, as you are like a child at Christmas when you open these things up. Which is awesome. Not many people, into their adult lives, keep that child-like sense of wonder and enthusiasm. Something I always tell any adult I talk to, to never lose. As it seems to be somethings society looks down on, when people get older. I say screw that, be that kid for your entire life and enjoy every second as if it’s your last. Because one, you never know when it will be… Two, you work hard more days than not in your life doing what you have to do to survive… Play just as hard, to celebrate the success of being able to provide for yourself.
    I try to think God every day for the blessings he has given me. And I never stopped being a kid inside. As, without that excitement and sense of wonder, what is the point of living?
    Thank you for everything you do, you are awesome.

    hi there, Emily, I got my quadrant and flight yoke set up after watching this video. I’ve used it for probably three or four months and watch your video again and I did not realize I needed to change the parameters for every airplane. I will have to get out my directions again and change some things. I also wish there was a way for labels to go on the buttons on the top. I’m sure you have great memory, but mine is not. Thank you so much for your videos, derek

    I have the Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant now for 4 months. As a XP-11 flyer, I enjoy the ability to work the throttle. BUT only 2 months in using the unit, I started to get problems with the thrust reverse switches. I first were thinking it was my poor ability to interact with the XP11 software. But later I realized the problem was not with the software of the switches in the levers, but the fact that the wires running inside to the controller card were breaking. I realized this when I opened the controller and visually inspected the wires. 4 of the routed wire were all broken. My observation was that the wire they were using is too hard, and during bending would suffer fatigue damage. Realizing this, it was not really possible to solve the problem by doing an exchange of the bravo unit, as this problem is a Design fault, and I would just be getting the same failure in the future. Therefore, I replaced all the routed wires with a thinner more flexible gauge wire and adding additional support at the tight corner bends. After my repair to date I had no more problems with the functionality. I do not know if other users have the same problem? Let me know.
