    Just wanted to say thanks for uploading this video! It made my installation so much easier. Especially that little trick about the cable colors for the speed sensor and brake power cable. Much appreciated!

    Great vid Andy. It still fries my brain when it comes to wiring stuff and that’s even with the modern ‘Plug and Play’ technology - and I just dream that my bike was like that!!
    You’ve managed to explain it out well and I’m sure you’ll be helping out loads of people with this addition to their bikes.

    Hi Andy, I have bought myself a gear indicator too. I have learned a lot from your video. But I did it a little bit different. I taped the green/black wire to the gear position sensor. After that I pulled the wire out of the frame. The wire is long enough to do so. Then I made the connection to the gear indicator and pulled the wire back into the frame.

    Hi, Thank you for this video. Today thanks to you I installed this on my XJ6n. I was the one who never used those red things for cables connection so I learned from every detail of your video. Good advice with colours check in plug from engine not the sensors side. For now i have display temporary installed on my windshield mount (can't decide yet where to stick it permanently)

  • @legolator

    Very nice of them to add that loom. I've been eyeballing a gear indicator for my FZ6N S2, so now I know what to get. Just gotta get that license first, but come spring I'll get that done. Winter in Sweden is extra wintery this year, tons and tons of snow. #iwantsummer. Congrats on the 10K subs.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First things first eh!? Good luck with the test. Though the biggest challenge will be being patient!

    • @legolator
      @legolator 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I made the "mistake" of getting started in August-September, so winter was just around the corner. Bought a bike, all the gear, went out for a few rides with some friends (one of them being my teacher). So It was pretty frustrating storing the bike away for the winter, putting the cover over it and all that, and I just want to get back out there again. But being a 35 year old father to a little ball of energy (he turns 3 in April, my oh my time flies) I can surely say that patience is one of my virtues. And good thing there are good motovlogers like yourself out there putting out content that eases the frustration of not being able to take a ride myself. The garage videos are my favourites, but that Croatia trip was also very good. Have a good one! Cheers!

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is awesome timing! But i get it. I bought the FZ1 in October so just in time to stick in the garage for the winter! 😂 I'm glad the videos help though! Couple more garage spots coming before the riding starts! Cheers mate!

    Andy the man! Spent all morning watching your vids, shared with my 2 wheeled friends to subscribe too. Q- mine's a 2013 fz1n (abs). Manual says its for fz1 up until 2010... You think it's just knowledge gap about the bike why Healtech didn't put all FZ1 series? I'm puzzled, really want one on my bike

      @AndyManCam  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks! That’s the kind of stuff that can make a channel successful, so I really appreciate it! No idea why it might stop at 2010. maybe the connector is different? Or probably, as you’ve said, the list just hasn’t been updated. I’d recommend sending an email to Healtech customer support. They’re extremely helpful and they know their stuff inside out.

I was also a service technician working on literally hundreds of different types of commercial equipment before I became an engineer. This bike is way hotter running than the Versys was. WHich in turn was way hotter than the FZS600 was. Next bike will be a Honda Furnace 1200.

    Healtech instructions are poor. Check the wiring diagram for your motorcycle and use the single wire from the ECU to the ignition pickup coil. The other wire on the pickup coil is commom between other sensors like the TPS and WSS.
    Healtech stated it was the GREY wire on my R6 when in fact it was the WHITE/RED wire needed.

    Somehow mine doesn’t want to switche to the second gear, only blinking in “1” slowly…
    I have an FZ8-ABS, from 2015 I attached the white wire from the gipro harness kit, to the abs module wiring, because when I disconnect that plug and I spin the back wheel, it shows “0” on instrument cluster, but when I connect it back, works just fine, so I guess the bike reading the speed from the rear abs module.
    I tried both of the wires (it’s a white and a light gray) still nothing…

  • @RealMNreviews
    @RealMNreviews 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does it keep track of your gear by the speed you are going/ rpms? Not what actuall gear you are in? Example, if I'm doing 100 in 2nd gear will it think I'm in 6th? Higher rpm equals a higher gear?

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does use rpm vs speed to calculate the gear. But if you’re doing 100 in 2nd, the rpm‘s will be a lot higher than if you were doing 100 in 6th. So it doesn’t ever get confused.

    Hey Andy, I'm just in the process of using scotch locks to hijack the parking light wire on my FZ1 but don't know which is positive/negative. The only reference I have is that one wire coming off the switch is green with a red stripe. Do you by chance know if that's positive or negative? Does it correlate to the black or red wires I need to use to hijack?

    I've not long passed my test and I've got a CBF 1000 Will it be the same principle to fit one of these to my bike?

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would think so. But it all depends on what kind of connections your bike has. Have a look on the healtech website and it'll give you a better idea of exactly what you need. Either way it'll either be like this one, or easier with a plug and play like i had on the Versys before this.

    1 thing I am wondering: I remember you striving to have everything able to be rolled back in case you want to sell the bike in the most stock configuration possible. How would you achieve that with this mod?

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easy. Pop the hijack connectors off, wrap the cable with tape. Done.

  • @DearMajesty

    does it work based on RPM's or the actual gear shift? basically will it tell you what gear you're in if you come to a stop in any gear any change gears?

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It calculates the gear based on rpm and speed. So when you’re stopped with the clutch pulled in, it won’t show a gear until you start to move again.

    • @AndyManCam

      Sounds like your wires are connected up wrong. Have a check and make sure you’ve got the right cables from the bike.

    • @AndyManCam

      I'm honestly not sure. Though I would think that Healtech will have thought about it. Probably using the camshaft position sensor or summink.

    Hi,
    Is the 2nd gen better than the original, I was thinking of getting one for my Fazer 8,but not too sure about splicing cables etc,the original is just plug and play so is it really in your opinion better?
    Thanks
    Nelly

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as i know, you don't have any choice as the DS isn't compatible with the FZ's. I think the diagnostic plug, or lack thereof, means you have to splice wires regardless. It's different depending on the bike.

      If you have a SpeedoHealer installed, you have to connect the plugs in-line in the following order: Speed sensor male plug >> GIpro >> SH >> bike female plug.

    Every fuel injected bike has an ECU that knows what the RPM and the speed are. How difficult can it be to calculate the gear and display that in the instrument panel? Lazy bastards. I noticed Kawasaki *finally* put a gear indicator in the LCD display in the 2017 Versys.
