Skeleton Crew has been really interesting and I like how Andor and SC are both in the SW universe, but show completely different aspects. The thing is, for me, even SW stuff that I have been disappointed in doesn't diminish my love for SW. It's not like things that have disappointed have been absolute hot garbage, everything has had ideas, concepts, or moments that I found compelling...just sometimes the execution or overall product didn't meet the level I would want. That just means they need to do better, not to just throw the baby out with the bathwater. I get why sometimes people get so disappointed that they check out, but for me I feel it just strengthens my resolve in hoping for better...because I know even if the recent movies haven't been great they made Rogue One, and even if the series haven't been great they made Andor and Skeleton Crew, and even if the animated series aren't always homeruns they made Bad Batch...so A New Hope for a better SW product remains.
hi Ali, thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts! You make allot of great points. I guess I shouldnt say lately the shows havent diminished my love for star wars, like i will always love the movies, clone wars, the mandalorian and andor. So maybe im being a bit dramatic in that sense lol. Youre so right, theres a ton to room for star wars to be great, and theres always potential
skeleton crew has been bringing the bad batch and mandalorian vibes i've been waiting so long for. the connections between characters is what i like the most, especially Fern with how much she depends on SM-33 even tho they just know each other. She just knows 33 knows what to do XD
Skeleton Crew has been so refreshing! I'm also loving the gritty, lived-in feel & the wonder of it all! Can't wait to see where this adventure takes us ☠️✨
I finally got caught up on the show! It's so good. The kids are fantastic. Wim reminds me of my nephew. The setting is nice and refreshing. And there is a genuine mystery that I'm excited to learn about. Happy to hear that this show has got you hooked so far. I can understand your frustration with star wars shows. They feel overcooked and undercooked at the same time. If the shows don't work out, how about a book club 👀
overcooked and undercooked is the perfect way to describe it. I know we've both been feeling a little hesitant with some of the shows so im happy to hear youre into it as well. The kids feel SO real, they remind me of my younger nieces as well! A book club is a solid idea, i just got a few new star wars books so......
@crystalkyber the kids were an absolute delight. Something I didn't pick up on initially until they found Wim in the woods was how strange the droids were. I think they really did a good job of showing suburbia in star wars. It's a big galaxy but that galaxy often reflects the diversity of our planet so for some reason I was just like "yea I can see a few planets having this type of structure". What books are you reading? I have a huge backlog after finishing the bane trilogy and I want to get the physical copies of the first phase of high republic books. But right now I think I'm going to read shadows of the sith. I heard it was really good!
right, like the droids are SO sus. Okay initially i was not into the idea of suburbia but the more the story reveals its self the more im trusting in the story telling, if that makes sense. Im reading non-starwars stuff rn like Pride and Prejudice, and a court of thorns and rose lmao, im on a romance kick rn. BUT im about to start reading the novelization of The Phantom Menace, i was thinking about reading all of the novelizations of the movies.
@crystalkyber yes I have faith in this series so far. I'm very excited about the mystery of it. Hidden treasure planets is such a fun thing to explore. Non star wars novels are in my rotation as well! I'm currently reading the royal ranger series. I've heard the movie novelizations are so good! I've read some excerpts from RotS that are some real tear jerkers
me too! Also thanks for popping in the live stream the other day! Love seeing the homies come thru! Ok, im gonna look up the royal rangers! Yeah i heard the same thing, and i heard the RotS is so good as a novel. Have you read Dune??
About 11 minutes into the video, and I wanted to point out that I also thought it was interesting Fern asked about who the boys are crushing on. 🤔 she might have a little crush on Wim, you never know. You're the 1st person I have seen mention this little bit of dialog. Writers do everything for a reason, no matter how insignificant they may seem. Good catch.
okay, i'm glad you caught on to that too! It really made me giggle when I thought about why she would ask that lmao. Thanks so much for watching Eric :)
I would say that Fern and Wim don't like each other because they're both different kind of adventurers. Wim is a dreamer, while Fern is much more pragmatic.
damn, wish i got paid for an opinion! For me after not liking what star wars has been doing, skeleton crew has been a breath of fresh air. So i know what its like to be on your end
Keep the Star Wars love alive Crystal!!! I hope Skeleton Crew stays this for you

It’s such a refresh of the Star Wars formula, and it’s awesome I love it.
