Anyone watching without subtitles probably thought the owl-cat-person alien was named Kim, but you're wrong. You're missing out on her having the hilariously Star Wars name "Kh'ymm".

Honestly the writing for the kids in this show is hands down the best writing for children on TV I've seen in a long time. It's nice to see a show let kids be smart, but still be immature and ignorant. Too many shows end up writing kids as little adults to show them as being intelligent, or writing them dumb as bricks. Also yeah, I 100% agree that the show just feels like Star Wars, Mando got too much of the Marvel treatment trying to tie it in to a larger narrative, and lost that vibe, and this show is doing a good job of capturing it. Skeleton Crew and Andor are showing that Star Wars can be both prestige TV drama, and goofy kid stuff, and hopefully Disney takes that and finally understands that what Star Wars always needed was to be broadened. The universe already had so much lore and backstory, even with nuking the old canon, that you really didn't need the depth of a big interconnected saga, or at least not every show has to have that.

    • @SabiJD
      @SabiJD 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

I wouldn't have minded The Mandalorian being so interconnected if the quality of writing and narrative was up to scratch. But it wasn't.

Okay the first episode gave me pause with the American suburbia but after episode two and expecially this episode, I’m absolutely loving this show, it’s full of mystery and wonder. Jude law has an incredible presence on screen, and all the kids acting in this episode felt so natural as well. While I wasn’t a huge fan of the first one, episode two and three are thrilling, every scene eggs me on into wondering what’s going to happen next. The pirate droid is probably the best part, his mannerisms, his imposing stature, the way he lurks in and out of the shadow, he feels like a character from pirates of the Caribbean if it took place in space. Anything is possible and I could feel totally different by the end of the season but for now this feels like it’s on the verge of being something great. I can only imagine how much more I would love it as a 12-14 year old if it captures my imagination like this as an adult.

A bit thinking about SM-33 denial of knowledge of Att Attin.
The original Onyx Cinder crew could have been in flight to Att Attin on purpose.
It depends when SM-33 was deactivated. Before the fight on board or after the crash landing?
Before the crash landing is for me the more likely scenario.
We have two corpses on board, as far as I know.
The "mutineer" would have known that SM-33 is a capable fighter.
So he/she had to take him out before killing the captain.
When SM-33 was deactivated, he had one hand on a lever. Pulling the lever closed the internal doors.
As if the mutineer made his intention clear and SM-33 tried to buy his captain some time.
    This could hint towards:
Onyx Cinder crew knew the coordinates of Att Attin. Was inbound for Att Attin.
The "mutineer" wanted all treasures for himself.
So deactivating SM-33 -> fight mutineer vs. captain -> one killed, the other wounded and sucumbing to its wounds -> crash landing on Att Attin.

Obvious parallel’s to Peter Pan, Treasure Island, and Goonies: goonies: kids discovering a lost ship and going on a runaway adventure where they meet scoundrels and creatures. Treasure Island: kids leading pirates to lost treasure, “Wim” = “Jim”. And Peter Pan: the children being imprisoned, escaping, “SM-33” = “Smee”, their parents being worried about their disappearance, Crimson Jack is kinda of like Peter Pan (uses “magic”/the force) and having Crimson Jack = Captain Jack for another pirate movie reference with Pirates of the Caribbean. Nicely done.

I am an grown ass man but this show totally brings my inner child back! Especially loving the kids interaction and dynamics (they were arguing who shot the xwing, or Jack was bossing the kids but supposedly Fern is the captain... ) with the mystery within star wars unverise, the practical effects, the pirate adventure vibe...
(I also really appreciate Eck mentions the practical effects and details that the show put in is easily ignored, like ep3 the turbulence of the xwings messed up KB's hair, is borrowing from the opening scene from TopGun Marvick. This really sells the realism of the physics)
I sometimes replay some scenes to enjoy the effort that the crew put in, very satisfying

I like how much they seem to name drop the old republic in this. Now ofc this. Could be referring to the republic of the clone wars era as the “old” republic while they have the “new” republic, not specifically referring to the era from over 1100 ish years ago but I’d like to think that it’s that kind of old that nobody alive really knows anything other than stories.

The Skeleton Crew is a breath of fresh air for Star Wars. The kids really do a great job of bringing their characters to life. A person can relate to each one. Jude Law is making it even better by his reaction to the kids. His character probably never expected to ‘have’ kids. Now here is with 4 that are lost and needing his guidance in t the greater universe. What comes next no one will expect. My hopes are they start the next season quickly so the kids aren’t aged out.

I'm betting he was a Jedi turned Inquisitor, then deserted once the Inquisitorious began to be phased out, by that point Vader was too busy to chase him down and kill him.
Another reason he doesn't want the NR to get their hands on him, piracy is one thing (he was shown to at least be fair to the victim ship's crew if the vessel gave up and cooperated) but even a former Inquisitor would likely be executed for severe crimes against the Galaxy. And a Jedi doesn't just turn to victimizing commerce without at least having a brush with the Dark Side.
