I think you are going to love that 706. Nice ergonomic operator station where you are not straddling a hot transmission is a blessing. Assuming the engine is still the C263 and not been changed to the C291 it will be slightly better on gas than you think. Frankly I would rarely take the throttle past what you need to achieve for 540 PTO rpm (or 1000 PTO rpm if you have any of that). Gas is cheaper than diesel and can still pencil out for a small time operator. Use the 300 and get the wheels slid in on both Farmall C's so they can be more useful for you on light work and you can save some gas that way by using the right tractor for the particular job at hand. Will be good for them to see a bit of semi-regular use as well. See it still has the original gear shifters which can be upgraded to the better 756 style shifters if you hate them. Also looks like it still has that pesky solenoid known for problems on the carb. Lots of guys replace that thing with a more traditional needle and seat that is manually adjustable for better tuning. I wish Farmall would have offered their 544 sized row crop tractor with the 8 speed tranny and the better T/A at something around 54 hp. They did not so I bought a JD 2510 gas not too long ago. I love it so far. Some of my older relics will eventually be sold I think to recoup some cost.
Can I ask what happened to the 484? Did you fix it and then sell it? Sell it as is broken? Trade it? Hopefully not scrapped as you had put some good work into her and a new injection pump which is not cheap item.

I like this 706 really well. It is a 64 so it should be a 263. As I learned recently though the 263 291 and 301 gas were all the same block. This tractor will be for my heavier work once I get all the little problems worked out. Yes the 300 will become a vital part of the operation the C's and others will probably continue as raking and wagon tractors. And yes other than the gas bill it is a great machine.

The 484 went to someone needing an engine in a 485. Should have a good life as such. The rest of the tractor was just worn out.
