That orange looking paste in the bottom is deteriorated form a gasket or silicone the gasoline ate away at it and caused the paste to form in carburetor

My 684 will move up and down fine unloaded but loaded it won’t go down? Any suggestions?

I've been looking for a replacement fuel shutoff valve but I can't find them

Went to the local equipment rental shop to see if they might have the shutoff valve. They didn’t, and I wasn’t surprised. They DID have an oring which I put on the stem and it no longer leaks. 2 cent piece cost me a buck. Best $.98 cent mark up ever!

Video made 5 yrs ago so I’m guessing you’ve figured the cub 22 out by now or have moved on from it. But just in case, these are reliable. I use mine every year and about the only thing that breaks is the pitman arm. Couldn’t tell if the flat metal piece was broken at first part of video. If not, then the knife bar is set too far back. That metal piece should be straight with backward pressure on knife bar. Also, you can get a double knife section to put on end of bar to help with clogging at the end. IH made a triple section for that, but I don’t think you can find one now.

I won’t use 15-40 oil on my farm pro 2420 I was running it and could not build oil pressure my neighbor said he only runs 30 weight diesel oil so I switched to it and it builds great pressure so I also use it in my IH 454 and I never heard of calibrating a dip stick

Never open the throttle until the engine has full oil pressure!

They were real good tractors I ran a Regular for many years .

Man I been messing around with my 584 for 3 or 4 years trying to get the 3 point to work right, doing pretty much the same as yours it would move full range with the draft but maybe just a 1/4 the way with the lift leaver, I've had a couple filter changes an O rings here and there . I hooked to the plow this spring and it quite lifting all together, so I'm going to rip the covers off and follow your lead . Thanks for the help I thought I was the only one with hyd oil dripping in my ear and not gaining on the problem. Up in western Pennsylvania woods. Thanks again

I grew up on a 484 back in the early 80's- I have to say I'm a little surprised to see it pull that plow like that without much trouble at all, if any. Seems to pull it just fine. My dad's 484 seemed to really struggle with pulling a 3 point disc harrow, so I wasn't expecting this. Good ol' tractor, that 484, and from what I remember that engine is damn near bulletproof- just about can't tear it up as long as you take care of it.
