She's a freak - and I mean that positively. Human beings shouldn't be able to do what she could do with her voice. She possessed the greatest vocal instrument of all time. Period. The End.
So true. He versatility was unparalleled; there wasn't a musical genre' that she couldn't do, and do very well. She's also known for her uncanny ability to go from a full on (((BELT)))) to a whisper within the same breath, and of course her trademark "effortlessness". In a career spanning 60 yrs., we never saw her sweat.
I remember seeing this event on TV...It was 1978 and a celebration of Israel's 30th birthday (the only other artist I remember performing was Bernadette Peters, singing "Thank you for being a friend"). Of course Babs closed the 3-hour show, performing with Zubin Mehta and the LA Philharmonic. It was epic. She was definitely in her prime. Both her latest album debuts and her, at the time, very RARE live appearances, were EVENTS. There was always an adrenaline payout in her songs. I remember I rigged my Sony 17" Trinitron TV to feed its monaural sound feed into my Marantz receiver and JBL Lancer 77 speakers to enjoy the full effect of the performance. I felt like I was literally in the auditorium. All the years of crappy little 4" speakers in those TV's at the time when the audio feed was surprisingly high fidelity. Serious chills between her singing and the orchestra. Perfect pitch, perfect phrasing.
I love this live rendition of Tomorrow by Barbra. It's very dynamic. I loved when she turned around to face the musicians and swayed back and forth with her arms swaying to the timing of the music. Barbra is an artist who responds so well to live musicians. She succeeds in surpassing her album recording of this song here IMHO.
I prefer the studio version of this song a bit softer, but my goodness this womans voice is just unbelievable so so strong and absolutely effortless this is truly a gift from God. By the way she looks beautiful!
I am a lifelong fan as one I am offended when people judge her voice now. No she doesn't sound exactly the same She is 78 years old now and still sounds fabulous. What do you people sound like when you sing?
Omg the 60/70s were her best vocally, those decades are definitely when she gave her best vocals and really showed just how great of singer she truly is and was. This was prime Barbra, after that she went to Seth Riggs and he kinda took her core sound away. She didn't have the same power that she had before and she mixed a lot more. Edit: The resonace in this performance is overwhelming. Omg 😭 Too powerful
If you are having a bad day. You NEED to watch and listen to this. This is from a girl who came from next to nothing and look what she has today. Not that that is paramount but it is an inspiration, nonetheless.
WHO IS THESE 5 IDIOTS WHO MAKES DISLIKE IN BARBRA STREISAND AND HER ESSENTIAL RENDITION OF THIS IMMORTAL SONG ??? ENOUGH WITH ALL THE AESTHETICS PEOPLE WHO THEY THINK THEY KNOW ABOUT MUSIC, DISCOGRAPHY AND PERFORMANCES !!! ENOUGH...
Leave it to Barbra to rearrange pretty much the whole classic melody of this iconic song to make it hers. FF to 2021 May 22, Stars In In The House on TH-cam had an "Annie" reunion. And host Seth Rudetsky showed this clip and let's just say they weren't to thrilled with this version. ❤️❤️😜😜😊😊
Wow, I rest my case: she really is the best. This arrangement is different from the arrangement of "Tomorrow" on the Songbird album. That's why I like it so well. I recorded this onto many cassette's I made over the years. It's so wonderful to now SEE it. Thank you.
Barbra made a conscious decision IMO to deemphasize her pop music catalog. Stoney End, Superman, Songbird, Till I Loved You, etc. and reposition to her Broadway catalog. In one of her concerts someone asked her to perform Stoney End and Woman In the Mood and Barb appeared surprised when the audience strongly demanded she sing those songs. Streisand is no dummy and I suspect her reluctance has more to do with diminished vocal range than anything else. 70s-80s Barb is truly missed.

Well now..have you HEARD Cecilia Bartoli?

wished she had done more live concerts when her voice was prime.
I Saw her in 2013. Sure she is past her prime but even in 2013 she was still Amazing snd much better Then most female singers half her age

Richard Bryan she’s still great now.
Barbra's upper register during the 70's was sublime! Pure Perfection!!

Sonically, she blasted this rendition out of the park.
Streisand at her height. Just unparalleled.

Her voice was the best these years ...top of her game.
And she still rocks babe...!
Even at age 76, she's still amazing. A big fan since 12 yesrs old and she NEVER disappointed. Amazing talent.
I prefer the studio version of this song a bit softer, but my goodness this womans voice is just unbelievable so so strong and absolutely effortless this is truly a gift from God. By the way she looks beautiful!
Yes, her voice truly is a gift from God and she is gorgeous.
I like them both always a surprise never the same twice, she is always in the moment

Final note, dead center on perfect pitch. Absolute awesomeness!

I was her rehearsal pianist
@@davidtoddsingleton Nice. You can always say you played with Streisand. One of the greats.

She’s the best 🥰
The most beautiful voice on earth. It gives you life. Babbra Streisand love ❤you🙏 always.
I know there was no mic dropping in '78, but OMG was that ever a mic dropper of a performance. 😲
Oh God! How I love her voice!! She ALWAYS touches me SO DEEPLY!! What is this kind of power??
Perfect. She was the best in that age
more than safe. her voice is a gift from God. an inspiration, a joy, and then some.
She will always the best! Only singer who could outdo her is herself!
Absolutely amazing, god gifted perfect voice!
ENOUGH...
No singer has more resonace. Those notes ring like a bell. The belts are insane.
I was attached to the studio version that is sooo beautiful but the more I listen to this the more I like it start getting to get adicted to it 😁😁.
This version of this song is out off this world what a finish loved the album version but this live performance is amazing whit a voice pure Streisand
Fantastic rendition of this song. I love it!!
Extraordinary…
I love that last note! And all the notes before it!
It was magical writing for her and being her rehearsal pianist
Those last few bars... Textbook example of "hitting it out of the ballpark"!
♥no matched unique beauty like hers!♥

The ease!!!😍
She doesn't perform often. My mom's always wanted to see her and next time she performs in NYC I'm going to surprise her.
She performed in Brooklyn last June.
lecorsaire did you surprise her?
Without peer, in a class all by herself.
Love this song! My favorite singer always!

Astounding!
March 21, 2021 Still the greatest
Forever my favorite performer. My idol.
Unreal!
This is most talented American that has ever lived. Although this perm was NOT working for her!
Love her so much!
I love how she makes this insipid song beautiful. The phrasing at .55 seconds.... Exquisite!
I remember this so well. Barbra's best live performance imo. Why in the world isn't this on video?
Sounds great ...
WOW !!
Thanks for sharing this video with us.
