    I ate LCHF two years ago, and in a couple of months, I lost 21kg, from 105 to 84! I have never EVER felt so healthy, happy, and alert as I did when I was doing it. When I didn't do the LCHF diet, I was always tierd and angry in the mornings, easily irritated. After LCHF, even my friends asked me "how and why are you so happy all the time?"
    All because of the diet, it changed my life!
    I love food, and for those who do this is the best diet there is imo.
    Thank you "Diet doctor!"

    I am 68 years old and have trained in bodybuilding, boxing, and martial arts all of my adult life. When I want to lose weight, I go on a low-carb diet. When I go off this diet, I gain weight, and my blood pressure goes up. It's as simple as that.

      Stay in ketosis ... the saturated fat and cholesterol war is dead. The French have the lowest heart disease in the western world ... simple ..
      Physicians have abandoned the nutritional approach to patient diagnostics and medicine, simply because they are not trained in nutrition. A key part of the Hippocratic Oath ... “I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure... “, has been forgotten …
      Just after WWII, the first warning were being reported in the news about the Refined-Carbohydrate Disease. Interestingly: In the 1930’s, food scientists realized that refined grains were not providing enough nutrients. Consumers, particularly children, were developing symptoms of malnutrition. (Irony 1) Thus, grain enrichment and fortification became standard. References to “The Saccharine Disease” started in 1956.
      70 Going On 100.

    Great to see some common sense being applied to the diet industry. - very similar to what Atkins was saying. More fat in your diet leads to lower calorie intake, loss of weight and better health.

    can i take 2tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil each day? i am pregnant and know that im supposed to take good fat for brain development for my baby... is 2tablespoons enough? and is consuming lentils, beans, pecans, nuts etc bad?

    • @sophievbg
      @sophievbg 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lentils and beans are not the best. Nuts are good in moderation, and actually pecans are the best, they contain the lowest % of carbs per 100g, while cashews contain the highest %. There are charts on dietdoctor's website which show you the amount of carbs per 100g, which are ok to eat, and which should be avoided. Extra virgin olive oil is healthy in general, but I don't know what should or shouldn't be consumed during pregnancy. I am sure you can find this information on the website too.

    years ago I did low carbs and all carbs concentrated in one hour of the day. I lost 45 lbs easily but a birth control shot screwed it up and I gained it all back very very quickly even while still eating the same! It was so frustrating and then it set my body where I couldn’t lose no matter what I tried! I did extremely low fat for 3 months and only lost 1.5 lbs, felt starved constantly, and the food tasted like watery cardboard. Then for 26 years I got fatter and fatter until I almost weighed near 300! I was accepting of it as part of menopause and aging. I had many autoimmune issues and constant pain. Then I got so sick and my chest hurt every day. I suspected I might have had 2 small heart attacks even! BUT here in the USA with no insurance I was gonna die with no treatment. So I set out to cure myself with diet if I could. I had no choice. I tried juicing and that was delicious but played hell with my blood sugar and gut! There was no way! So I tried Keto which had sounded very restrictive. It felt that way but I continued. I was planning my next snack or meal the minute I stopped eating still...felt anxious all the time...I started craving a steak. I went and ordered a giant roast and it came with a slab of fat, and a small broccoli and cheese. Seemed Keto still so I ate that. And it was so mentally and physically satisfying! Different. And the best I had felt in months! And the next day I heard about carnivore as I was still researching Keto. That was last April, and in the next 10 months from then til now...I have lost 85 lbs...and have regained some health every single day. I hope to heal completely and think I might be able to actually. Even maybe from the fibromyalgia which I seemed to have been born with! I have seen some small improvement there as well recently. My heart is not 100% healed and clear yet as I can feel it twinge occasionally if I am stressed, but my normal BP is way down, and I could list 30 other health improvements here as well. My body pains are almost all gone! (except for fibro pain)

    I lived in the north of Sweden in a small village for 12 years (now I'm back to germany) with 45 people living in this place. Three (!) of the people in that village got a gastro-bypass, that is really sick if you imagine how less people we were!
    I have one question, I really struggle to eat high fat without getting protein. What food to eat instead of real butter? I don't want to do butter into my salad for getting more fat, but eggs or meat gets me to high in protein so that I always end up doing a low carb hugh protein diet what makes me gaining weight.

    People have lost good common sense when it comes to food. As a child eating out was a treat not a norm. We ate all kinds of food but it usually came from a garden planted by my parents and our food was built around these vegetables. The secret is food not manufactured or sold over a counter but as fresh as possible and varied. All diets are fads.

    Thank you for opening my eyes. Can I ask if when losing the vast amounts of weight, particularly the lady with the red hair and green top, did any of your patient's suffer from massive amounts of excess skin? I lost 9.5 stone on Slimingworld over about 20 months but was left with an horrific amount of excess skin over my whole body but my doctor said I could not get help with it on the NHS. I was so repulsed as to how my body looked that I put the weight back on. That was on a mostly card oriented diet. Since starting, albeit only recently, on the lchf diet my body seems to be losing weight and my skin, so far, is not as loose as it seemed to be last time. I suspect it probably will but if it is less then that is another plus point and can't be bad for my type 2 either. :)

    • @Jefferdaughter
      @Jefferdaughter 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some things may never be the same as they would if you had not been put on a high sugar and high starch diet- but the animal fats, eggs, and coconut oils will help your skin to be healthier. Every cell has a membrane made of fat, and when we were all told to avoid fats and eat only vegetable fats (corn, soya, canola, safflower, etc) our bodies were not getting the quality fat needed to fuel our bodies and brains without slumps, (which creates cravings we cannot ignore!) and to build healthy cell walls.Quality fats from pastured animals also helps provide and aid in the absorption of vitamins and minerals that will help your skin to regain elasticity, so sagging will be minimal as you lose weight. I am not a physician or dietician, but iodine (from kelp) also seems to help.Best of luck to you!

    Thank you for your great presentation. I have one question regarding cheese. There's some contraddicting information on cheese. Some state that cheese can raise insulin as much as sugar, and thus cheese should be eaten in small quantities in LCHF. Some others state that even though cheese raises insulin through casein, the glucagon contrasts it so it does not matter, you will still benefit from LCHF if the macros are right. What's your opinion?

    • @siegfriedfurtwanglerknappe6188
      @siegfriedfurtwanglerknappe6188 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +igb81 Cheese should be a low carb staple and is healthy to eat. Don't look at the science too much, just follow LCHF.

    • @kr50401
      @kr50401 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Siegfried Furtwängler Knappertsbusch Correct advice. I eat cheese (Brie, gouda, whatever) daily. Same goes for cream and thick yoghurt. Yum!

      @siegfriedfurtwanglerknappe6188 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kai R Sounds delicious! Low-carb is all about ignoring science and just eating fat.

    • @Jefferdaughter
      @Jefferdaughter 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting question. I wonder how casein raises glucose (if that is what you meant?) as it is a protein- unless the total amount of protein consumed in a day exceeds a person's needs, so some of the excess is then converted to glucose. The lactose in nearly all cheeses has been consumed by the bacteria in the culture, as in real yogurt (no added sugars, no added dried milk powder after culture) and kefir. Aged cheeses tend to be very high in fat, with just small amounts of protein. The American food labels show that information. Cream cheese is another option -especially if you can find a good brand.(Kraft is mediocre at best.) Ask at a good cheese specialty shop.Enjoy!

    • @siegfriedfurtwanglerknappe6188
      @siegfriedfurtwanglerknappe6188 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jefferdaughter I would argue your comment is the result of over-thinking. Just buy whichever cheese tastes best. If you start thinking too much you'll come across evidence like this
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22773666
      and many other studies showing saturated fat and trans-fatty acids are toxic to the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas.
      It's important not to think too much while on LCHF.

    The graphs in the beginning only prove correlation, not causation. It could simply be a coincidence. I could take a graph of average global temperature, juxtapose it with a graph of obesity rates, and say that global warming causes obesity, or even that obesity causes global warming! I would like to see statistics on activity levels, how many times people cook meals at home, how many time they eat fast food, etc. The data say NOTHING about diet or exercise habits.
    I also don't believe in vilifying entire macronutrients. Each macronutrient serves an important purpose in our diet. We simply need a healthy balance, with a focus on whole foods.
