Early on the iron/gold one is a fairly easy way to get gold and iron ore above 3.5 weight for those easy guild token quests. They also drop their materials in one big chunk. The max size on iron and gold is 300 weight, have not tested the others.
Plus if you keep a max weight Ore on hand, you can just use a Logic Saw to zing off a 4-5 wight ore for the quests, rather than having to grab an ore from your belts.
I let one of those mining posts for a while and it pooped a 300 weight iron ore. That dookie was HUGE! You can use the logic saw to cut chunks for those pesky quests asking for ore sizes.
Glad to see i'm not the only one failing to make sense of its use. I'm sure someone could look into comparing yields, maybe it's a good investment to build compared to making more drills? And compared to building stores and getting drills you could have it set up while still mining in the first plot because the first one only costs basic resources you get everywhere. But i don't see how it adds to my "fun", so i'll just leave them be for now.
The only resons that come to mind is that it is a source of income incase the player somehow looses everything (no idea how though), or the nuggetes can be larger then otherwise possible, which might be quests related.
with those prices to unlock you need to be in mid to late game (which is when your mine is automated) but if you are they have no purpose since you can get those stone numbers easily.
Weird! It's like: *"Congratulations! You have reached the End Game, as a reward, you have now unlocked a Early Game item"...* 🤷♂🤦♂ Would be much cooler if they could return some otherwise unavailable resource, that can not be mined with regular equipment. Maybe generate those Buff Stone balls?
I might be wrong but I think that the range of w requested from quest is increasing by amount of quest done, so the miners are for when the drill nugget aren't enough to complete the nugget request, this make sense because you can't combine nuggets, this also explain why they are expensive.
I really appreciate the video. I've been similarly confused about these, since they take sooo many resources to just build that by that point you're pretty well sorted for resources. I have to wonder if they started out as super cheap to build and then had to be nerfed because they made it pointless to actually mine?
doesnt require maintenance, probably is less cpu intensive, can select specific items to mine. I dont know whats the speed and material quantity they put out compared to a normal miner tho
I haven't unlocked these yet, but it could possibly be for the quests asking for large ores. I have a quest for 4.5 gold ore and cannot fulfill the order yet... I've been working on getting my large machines to the bottom of a dig site, but this could possibly be the alternative for early game play.
Kindof off topic. But i wish there was a big reset button per plot. Went hunting for the relics in my original game and i kinda regret leveling all the dirt now. (Just to save hundreds of hours of progress in a save. But reset the dirt per plot)
even when i was "early gama" by the time i had enough hardstone to build the first one i had a working mine that out performed the auto miner... this is what im saying. by the time u unlock these ur already making more than them esspecially in the time it takes to make 1 giant nugget ur machines output is far greater.
each gives about 300 max when its full. i dont find it particulary useful for the basic stuff but the one that gives either cloutium or corestone is quite neat. just wish it'd be more than 300. also how did you remove the fog?
It seems that half the content in the DLC is like this, like it was planned for something else but then was cut. I believe we did not receive the full vision of what was planned for this DLC
nope we got the full version just some of it doesnt make sense to me.. you have to think these videos are my interpretation other people may have their own reasons for these. nothing was cut from what we got.
maybe some future event that cuase moutnain to exploe and ruin the dig stie for whiel and we have to use the tower to get supplie we need to rebuild everyting.
Nothing more than an achievement at this time it seems. I like giving us more reasons to spend money/resources on but they really should provide more game play elements then just a "I did it".
they vary depending on ore miner... gonna be honest i dont really worry about them as im not using them, i know that sounds defeatest but i dont like these as i get a working mine up faster.
Thanks for the video. I think the Corestone one can be useful, as it's faster than a large number of drills. As an aside, do you know where I can find the hidden snowman?
Why? I don't need to repair, don't need conveyors, don't need to worry about water or lava pipes or really anything. I can idle the game *Edit: Also for those kinds of individuals who want to not worry about puzzling out logic, water/lava pipes just to worry about things breaking or not working. Sure, it takes a bit to make, so they'll have to worry about spaghetti, but once done, it's just an idler.
The reason for this tower is the same as the hole game. Steal your time!!! Nothing really to do....just try to automate thinks....and after spending hunderts of hours to make a big rig....you notice that the game cant handle it and stuttering as hell....but in this hunderts of hours you have to deal with hunderts of bugs that try to ruin your nervs ... A really good game in alpha state! :(
depending on how big your "rig" is some computers can run more than others depending on ur spec and then comes down to your build itself there are ways of reducing lag firs toff build big and find your limit then work to making the build more optimised really.

I believe the Hardstone/Shard one caps at 500w.
You can use the logic saw to cut chunks for those pesky quests asking for ore sizes.
nah i have an easier way to do that and it will be in my next tip video
Wait you can cut the raw chunks?
Glad to see i'm not the only one failing to make sense of its use. I'm sure someone could look into comparing yields, maybe it's a good investment to build compared to making more drills?

not sure how the player would loose everything considering we dont pay rent or anything..
with those prices to unlock you need to be in mid to late game (which is when your mine is automated) but if you are they have no purpose since you can get those stone numbers easily.
and this was my arguing point to most people who have tried to defend it..
I see this as just something extra to do that doesnt mean a lot.
Weird!
It's like: *"Congratulations! You have reached the End Game, as a reward, you have now unlocked a Early Game item"...* 🤷♂🤦♂
Would be much cooler if they could return some otherwise unavailable resource, that can not be mined with regular equipment.
Maybe generate those Buff Stone balls?
Yea, I'm thinking it's just like an "I did it" sink. No real practical value, but achievements and a sense of pride and accomplishment?
I might be wrong but I think that the range of w requested from quest is increasing by amount of quest done,
so the miners are for when the drill nugget aren't enough to complete the nugget request,
this make sense because you can't combine nuggets, this also explain why they are expensive.
nugget request only go up to 5lbs roughtly
unless im missing something
I really appreciate the video. I've been similarly confused about these, since they take sooo many resources to just build that by that point you're pretty well sorted for resources. I have to wonder if they started out as super cheap to build and then had to be nerfed because they made it pointless to actually mine?
nope they wernt nerfed this was how they were added into the game
This is the only way to get a large nugget
You can fuse ingots, but nuggets do not fuse
no need for large nuggets though not of this size atleast
doesnt require maintenance, probably is less cpu intensive, can select specific items to mine. I dont know whats the speed and material quantity they put out compared to a normal miner tho
takes about 10 minutes for the first 1 to fill up and it gets longer going into the other miners
I haven't unlocked these yet, but it could possibly be for the quests asking for large ores. I have a quest for 4.5 gold ore and cannot fulfill the order yet... I've been working on getting my large machines to the bottom of a dig site, but this could possibly be the alternative for early game play.
the largest ore iv had asked of me is 4.5lbs u get bigger ores than that off t3 level with lava drills so not sure of the main purpose of these.
Kindof off topic. But i wish there was a big reset button per plot. Went hunting for the relics in my original game and i kinda regret leveling all the dirt now. (Just to save hundreds of hours of progress in a save. But reset the dirt per plot)
completely agree we have been asking for one for a while but it doesnt seem to be a thing max wants to add it is up to him though so its ok
its for early game, makes no sense for yourself because your beyond this point. keep up the good work
even when i was "early gama" by the time i had enough hardstone to build the first one i had a working mine that out performed the auto miner... this is what im saying. by the time u unlock these ur already making more than them esspecially in the time it takes to make 1 giant nugget ur machines output is far greater.
ressource sink? i mean after building the shops for what do you need the hard stones?
no you dont need hardstone after you have built everything
they have bigger chunks, so maybe some of the token requests and/or bulk items?
i dunno to me they seema bit useless
MOre than likely they are for some future expansion to the game
I can think of one idea, if I want a non machine/miners playthru a form of hard mode🤔
the "Better Living Through Suffering" acheivement
except you have to build and automate a mine in order to have enough resources to build these........
how do you get quests from the king in volcalidus?
you dont
The only thing I find them useful for is ore quests as I can just take one 300 weight gold and it will last till I finish the game for quests
each gives about 300 max when its full. i dont find it particulary useful for the basic stuff but the one that gives either cloutium or corestone is quite neat.
just wish it'd be more than 300. also how did you remove the fog?
i didnt remove the fog. it just wasnt a loaded thing when i recorded the video.
It seems that half the content in the DLC is like this, like it was planned for something else but then was cut. I believe we did not receive the full vision of what was planned for this DLC
nope we got the full version just some of it doesnt make sense to me..

I guess that its there for ore weight quests
u can finish any ore quest when u have 1 drill mounted to the bottom of any plot apart from the start plot.
i want to ask a question which is the best plot in new update
video coming in a few days
It’s for the peoples request for large nuggets! If you give it time it gives you the largest nugget!
iv never been requested for a nugget over 4lb and that can be made from base of t3 from any drill...
maybe some future event that cuase moutnain to exploe and ruin the dig stie for whiel and we have to use the tower to get supplie we need to rebuild everyting.
liking the thinking out the box.
The only reason I can think of is an extra source of money, but that's not a very good reason
Nothing more than an achievement at this time it seems. I like giving us more reasons to spend money/resources on but they really should provide more game play elements then just a "I did it".
seems lazy to me.
it could just be an option. for making Automated things instead of you always need to repair your Pipes and such.
by the time u can afford to build the first one of these u have a mine setup
Thanks for the video
how much to the ore chunks weigh
they vary depending on ore miner... gonna be honest i dont really worry about them as im not using them, i know that sounds defeatest but i dont like these as i get a working mine up faster.
He had to add something to spend hardstone on in the game to make it somewhat useful
A good sink for hardstone blocks would be a buildable castle!
Thanks for the video. I think the Corestone one can be useful, as it's faster than a large number of drills. As an aside, do you know where I can find the hidden snowman?
snow man is in barren harbour
Thanks, found it.
are these maybe here for a lore reason rather than as much a practical reason?
maybe but there is no lore which is a shame.. would have boon cool to have them as "kings quest" mission maybe
👍
Why? I don't need to repair, don't need conveyors, don't need to worry about water or lava pipes or really anything. I can idle the game

so would there be much point in playing if that was the goal?
would have been nice if ya got a achievement for it than i would have said its for the 100% ers
there is an achievement for building all 3 iirc
The reason for this tower is the same as the hole game. Steal your time!!! Nothing really to do....just try to automate thinks....and after spending hunderts of hours to make a big rig....you notice that the game cant handle it and stuttering as hell....but in this hunderts of hours you have to deal with hunderts of bugs that try to ruin your nervs ... Maybe it's for like emergency funds perhaps
good point but i dont know anyone who has had an emergency in this game
The only reason I can think of is achievements? Bragging rights?
isnt that the only reason why achiements are in any game?
