Are you on team screen protector or no?
Is there an alternative that you’re using, that you’d recommend?

If you can find the UV glue with the right VISCOSITY then no need to repurchase the expensive brand. You just buy the UV glue ($2-$5) & but the tempered glass seperately ($2-$9).
Definitely team uv glue+tempered glass! Installed it on my Note 9 first day. Nothing beats the look, feel and bubble free protection!

I have a Whitestone screen protector on my S9+. I already had a microscratch on the screen, before I installed the screen protector, but the adhesive filled the scratch, so it disappeared, and it looks perfect again. I really like this product.

So what I gather from your review is that 1. Highly expensive 2. There were small air bubbles under the screen protector and thirdly it collects dust on the edges that you have to clean every day. How this a 2 thumbs up?

    • @Tom64735
      @Tom64735 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Fairly certain the reason for the air bubble can be seen at 1:13. If you take care to wipe down the screen after placing it in the alignment frame, you can ensure that the oils on your fingers won't cause air bubbles after application. This is common sense when applying any screen protector - oil and dust cause bubbles.
If anything, I am very impressed that the screen protector only had small bubbles in the top right corner, based on the video I would have expected air bubbles at the sides and bottom as well (for the same reason).

I had the Whitestone dome glass on my galaxy S9 and had the same issue with it being a major dust and dirt collector I hated that about it being as expensive as it is, I just recently switched to the iPhone XR and used the spigen glastr ez fit tempered glass and it’s super easy to install without any bubbles and fits absolutely perfect with NO dust around the edges recommend this over Whitestone any day

  • @VinhNguyen-np7qn

I've tried just about every kind of screen protectors for the notes. and until the curved screen came out I loved zedge glass. but now 99% are just adhesive on the outer edge of the screen they are a waste of time and money. the whitestone protectors work well when installed properly. you really have to take your time and the surface must me completely flat or you will have a mess or you will have air bubbles. I love the feel and reaction it's just like having nothing on it.

Great video again, Teacher Thao 🙂 I heard great things about this screen protector and it does look like a great quality product, minus the dust that builds up on it as you showed.
The screen protector I got was a best buy exclusive product and they installed it in store when I first bought the phone and I'm happy with what I have.

I did ask them at the best buy mobile that I got it from here in Pickering and they told me it's from a machine they have that custom cuts the size of the phone screen. So it's pretty much from a printer they have at best Buy mobile. For a film style it's actually good quality and I recommend it.
That's cool about the note 9 I'm considering trying to trade up my S9 Plus for that but if I can't I'm still very happy with the S9 Plus. I really like both 🙂👍

Better yet how about a phone case, the screen itself actually takes quite a bit of falls before it takes any damage considering its gorilla glass 5 and I'd say the part of the note 9 that is susceptible to damage is the metal frame

This screen protector is amazing, it feels and looks like there is not one and due to the liquid adhesive, the S Pen has no change in sensativity. Had one on for about three weeks. Still in perfect condition. If it is collecting dust on the edges then the adhesive has not cured correctly. If it randomly cracked then it has been way over cured by the UV light. I have installed a total of six on six different phones. 1 noteb8, 2 s9+, 1 s9, and 1 note 9. All still in perfect condition. The first one was 7 months ago on the note 8. So the issues I have read are with installer error. Yes the screen on the note 9 is tough, but it still has weak points that the screen protector reinforces. I would never use double sided clear tape with either plastic nor glass.

@@vivekshrestha3253 the best thing to do is use an ethanol wipe around the edges , the dust being collected is from the overflow of the adhesive. After wiping it, let it air dry don't try to cure it more. It will harden the adhesive the the point it will delaminate on the edges and corners.

If you never applied a Whitestone or any LOCA applied TGP, do a dry run first before doing the actual application. You can use some water as substitute just to be familiar with the installation if you want. I found in the previous older jig the glass can slide under the jig if not put in properly. This will give you some reassurance in what needs to be done. Allow for more ease of mind as well.
Also I find it more easier in landscape/horizontal placing. You press down on the left side with your left hand and pulling tab from the right side with your right hand. More natural and less awkward like what Thao experienced.
In future, I'll be using the more reasonably priced InvisShield (sgfreshidea.com). Whitestone is overpriced in my view.

You get 2 tubes of adhesive. If you mess up the first one , simply lift the protector very very slowly from the bottom corner and watch the colour change as you lift. Use acetone to clean clean the protector after slowly rolling up the adhesive again working from a bottom corner . Use alcohol wipes to clean the screen and phone then start again.

My installation was almost fail too, it was very messy. See, I had forgot to tilt the tray so that the liquid goes to the middle. So when I released it, it quickly went to the top but took ages to get to the bottom and I had to actually put heavy objects on top of it to make sure all the glue went down to the bottom. Thankfully it did but man was it scary xD Thankfully no bubbles or anything. But yeah it does collect dust on the sides. Worth it though for the amazing protection and best adhesive you can get.

The reason why you are having too much dust is because you mess up when the liquid wasn't level. Good video thankyou, I've got one sat on my table the last 2 weeks cos I'm sketching out over the install hahaha. It is a ridiculous amount of money for something I've paid £5-£10 on in the past but u also now have a note 9 which I look after better than myself so the cost is justified imho. Thanks again, I've also subscribed to your channel.

I'm not sure what's true or false as so many people have complained about terrible results with Whitestone Dome. Not accusing you of making a fake video at all, I just mean there seem to be a lot of fake comments and videos made with burner accounts on TH-cam or other sites 😥

Agreed. Mine got glue in the S pen port and speaker grills. The absorption pads did nothing. Now my s pen smells like industrial chemicals. It was such a joke.

I taped all the buttons and ports in addition to using the speaker tape and side pads. The adhesive will definitely get everywhere. I recommend doing the same and you will be happy with the results.

My brother put one on his iphone x, not even a week later it has the spider web starting in the lower corner. Feels good but still flawed and expensive. Personally wouldnt bother with on for a flat screen phone. Debating if I want to give on a shot on my note 9, would think someone would have made a good screen protector for a curves screen by now.

Quality product, just takes patience but it’s worth the money. I prefer this over some flimsy protectors or the ones with just glue on the top and bottom even if it is on the more expensive side

I know this video is 3 yrs old, but I wish I watched it before I put this screen protector on my S22 Ultra.
1.The level app is key, I spilled glue towards the top speaker. Ended up with a couple of tiny air bubbles.
    2. The dust! It gathers around the edges, and sticks to screen. And fingerprints show up a lot more than on the actual screen. Especially in video calls.
The glass doesn't cover the whole lit portion of screen. So there's light leak along the edges. 😔
    Overall, not for me.

  • @ricardosreviews

Don't get whitestone dome glass (unless you can afford multiple attempts). The quality is definitely there however there are a lot of areas in the installation that can mess up your whole experience. For example I pulled the pin to drop the glass too early in my first attempt leading to air bubbles. My second attempt had an even worse result. This time when I pulled the pin the glass got caught on the plastic edging of the holder leading to the adhesive not spreading evenly throughout the entire screen. So basically it was a waste of money for me. This would be a better product if they improved the installation process which I think is doable.

I gave up on the whitestones dome. Like an idiot I bought them three times for my note9, thinking each one that went bad maybe was a fluke or my fault. They all go on perfectly, then in a week or two the edges starts to separate from the glue, giving a spider web-like effect.

I tend to not use any screen protector, I've never had broken any of my Samsung devices since the first note, now with my note 9 I'm using a film screen protector because come on! I'm my country I payed 4 times more for this device, so a little bit of protection is good, I don't use glass protectors because I use the note for professional drawing and sketching uses, I'm architect, so the glass protectors leaves more gab between the s pen and the display causing a more noticeable parallax gab between my drawing and the s pen too, also I hated to use screen protectors because now the phone looked very generic and cheap, with glass one's the thing is even worse because all the dust is a complete nightmare.. but I think that I will be using film protectors for a while, just because this phone was expensive and I don't want to scratch my display by drawing under pretty dusty environments while I'm going to construction grounds to see my buildings. Awesome video as always. Have a great day Thao!
