Galaxy Note 9: BEST CASE (Found IN Stores)?

- After sitting in Best Buy for a few hours trying on all the cases THESE are the cases I came away with. Lifeproof, Tech21, Samsung. I love the clear back on the Lifeproof cases, because it allows that phone's beautiful color to show through.

This is covering cases you can buy in a storefront, a major retailer. Online is a totally different ballpark and I have a case in mind for later. And yes, I totally sat in the store for well over an hour, much to the dismay of my husband, testing all the cases before buying lol. Erica approved.

yep, I sat at the phone counter with a bunch of cases. They let me try them and choose what I wanted and then rung me up when I was ready.
Make sure you look at Dualtek by Puregear. Independent tests show they are the best at drop protection.

Look at the Whitestone Dome glass for the Note 9. I just applied one to mine, and it's the best fit on a phone with an edge display that I've ever had.
The only downside is that the glue that you apply kinda attracts a lot of dust around the edges of the glass, but I've had it on now for 24 hours, and it seems to go away with time.
But the glass is stuck to the phone, touch and S Pen works perfectly (without the need to enable the extra sensitivity mode that Samsung offers), and it should work perfect with covers that goes around the glass, since it's so stuck to the glass!
Case compatibility is an issue with Whitestone. You need to be more mindful of the case you will get to fit it as some cases will lift the glass from the corners. Some Spigen and Otterbox cases are not compatible with it due to this.
Also if looking for a cheaper alternative and offers better case compatibility there's InviShield (not to be confused with Zagg; this is a different company). No difference except the way the glass is cut (and that it uses a generic dot matrix glass as the protector). It also uses a slightly stronger adhesive compared to Whitestone.

@@troubleshootingoops no other glass screen protector comes close to the whitestone. Had zagg, invishield, and spigen. All fell off sooner or later and all had alot of screen sensitivity loss. Plus you always felt the pocket of air underneath since those glass protectors only stick around the edges. The whitestone i've had on my Note 8 since it (the glass screen protector) became available has solved all of these issues. No screen responsiveness loss, no lifting or popping off. No stupid hollow sound when trying to type due to the pocket of air underneath. And it fits with 21 of my 22 cases inlcuding speck, spigen, otterbox, and uag. For the price tag, well worth it. Never buying cheap glass protectors that only adhere along the outer edges.
@@bilalfona Look closely at the video. He clearly did NOT have the Whitestone Dome glass on his Note 9s when testing the cases. It would be very noticeable if he had it on especially on the closer up view of the front.
@@williamstm92 *sigh* it's InvisShield from a company in Singapore. It's a full screen adhesive that is cheaper and uses a stronger LOCA glue compared to Whitestone. I've used both and InvisShield will likely be the one I go with in the future due to it being cheaper and is just as reliable. Their service is also way better than Whitestone. You obviously never heard of them.
Samsung's rugged military cases are my favourite. They're streamline yet feel substantial. Plus that kickstand is so useful when on planes and trains.
Thank you for your review! I have read several reviews of people having issue with the LED wallet cover opening up prior to hitting the ground when dropped.
I personally use the rugged case by Samsung just curious if the Lifeproof case is tempered glass friendly because I might try that one looks pretty cool.
Yes. I'm using Zeelot glass. Fits with a lot of cases.
Erica I just put the whitestone dome on my note 9. It's incredible. 45 dollars but so worth it for the protection. Works with most cases too.

Love the rugged military grade case with the kickstand...great for using the remote on the S Pen (I believe the US military tested that)....but I lean towards wallet type....so I end up with 6 or 7 cases lol. Great video BTW I can't find that wallpaper I see all the time on your phones...it's driving me nuts...where did you get it? Thanks Erica
I have the tech21 EvoWallet with 12ft Drop Protection, Folio 360° Protection, and card storage for 2 cards but I can fit a few more thin ones in besides ID and and another. I haven't had any problems so far and my last one was a Note3 and so decided to upgrade! Thank you for another great review!

Erica Griffin, I just ordered this case from Amazon but I'm wondering about its thickness. Is it as thick as the one that came out for the Note8? That one was pretty bulky.
I really like the Samsung Rugged case. It fits like a glove, has a good grip, and feels good in my hand. It also offers great protection.
Does the lifeproof NEXT case work with the dome tempered glass? Thx in advance.
I liked those 3rd party cases the best, but I ordered mine, a Spigen, online because it seemed less expensive.
Done w spigen w the see through silicon and frame that always breaks. Im sure there other cases are good tho.

Got the Spigen Liquid Air Armor. My go to case. Perfect for me; grippy and slim fit with good protection.
What's your opinion on the ringke fusion x? Do you reckon it will protect my phone?
Thanks for the thorough case reviews. The LED wallet case does not look to have much storage to function as a wallet, or are you just describing the style? Since the Note 9 is bigger than my Note 5, being able to put my credit cards and ID and such in the case would be a nice way to keep my pockets from being so loaded down.

I have a galaxy s8 and I have a Rhino Shield bumper and couldn't be more impressed with it! I dropped it so many times and still in the condition it was when I took it out the box! I have a question for everyone who has a Note9 and is reading this; under Advanced Features, do you have the "Accessories" underneath the "S Pen"? Because mine is missing and I've been trying to find where the fast wireless charging is but can't find it anyplace.

I have a Note 8 and now a Note 9 but still have my LGV20 with 2 spare batteries :). When in the wilderness, without network coverage, those extra batteries count for GPS tracking with off-line maps. I even bring a powerbank as well but prefer removable batteries - very light and instantaneous full charge!
Most importantly, which case protects the curved shatter prone edge?
How does the LED Cover screen interact with the Note and get its power?
I have the Samsung Rugged case for my S9 plus. This is probably the best case I have ever used. It’s protective, looks great and the kickstand is sturdy.

With my phones, I use the wallet type cases to protect the screen, and one of the other slim cases in the car with a small metal plate for the car mount...
About the LED cover case - anyone found a screen protector that is thin enough, so it doesn't rise above the top lip of the case? Most of the screen protectors out there are 0.33mm and it's simply too high, if you drop it, it will hit the screen, instead of the upper case lip.
The lifeproof case is compatible with the dome glass?
Is there a slim case for this phone? All those case adds like 3-4mm to the phone at least

I tried all the cases possible. The Samsung cases are definitely premium and worth the extra investment. Switched to Rugged Samsung case w kickstand and I'm very happy
, nice review Erica I like the cases. However one of the things that I like about a case is to have a kickstand. What are your thoughts on that because I watch a lot of videos.

I LOVE the Lifeproof & Tech 21 cases you tried. I currently am using the purple version of the Tech 21 until I can afford a pink/clear Lifeproof!
Been using spigen cases since the note 7. Can't be faulted. For the note 8 got the spigen tough armour case. Now for the note 9 got the spigen neo hybrid looks great with its 2 tone design plus excellent phone protection too.
Don't understand why no spigen cases had been used
I've also settled for Spigen NeoHybrids. It Works.

I had a spigen for about a month on my s7 edge, back when they came out, and the damn case scratched it all the way around the edges. I take extra good care of my phones so I know it wasn't from me. I'll never buy another spigen, I'm just not taking that chance. But to each his own 😉
Erica my Note 9 doesn’t have the Icon feature. I turned on developer mode and I still don’t see it.
is the LED case not annoying when trying to take a photo as you have to hold the flappy bit otherwise it covers the camera?
So, With the fist case, how do u listen from your bottom firing speaker?

Have you noticed the buttons on the Note 9 are a lot less tactile than the Note 8? which I preferred - I'm always triggering bixby on the Note 9 unlike the Note 8 because of the spongy buttons.

My only concern is rugged cases. I had the S7 plus and I went thru 5 screens on it. One I set on a counter, just set it. Another was dropped in an otterbox in grass. That is my only fears with a Samsung phone. But indo have to say my S8 plus has had no screen replacements.

Great review Erica, I love your vids. If I had one to pick it would be the Tech21 Evo Check case, I looked on Amazon but they don’t have one listed for the Note9 yet. When I got my Note9 I bought the Spigen Rugged Armor Case with Resilient Shock Absorption. It’s matte black with carbon fiber on the top and bottom. It’s thin but very sturdy, looks really good and I’m happy with my choice.

Is there a Rainbow/Oil Slick problem on the back of that Lifeproof case?
Sometimes the back of the case will touch the glass, but not all the time, and leave a little rainbow spot. It didn't happen on the case I tested in store (they gave me an untried one to actually buy.)
I selected the Tech 21 case, I love this case(excellent quality) But! the power button, trying to double click the The power button to open the camera is difficult! The power button is very stiff!..You need to double click the power button (Fast)...This is not a deal breaker for me, But this is an issue with this case!
I have two of the cases that you've reviwed. I have the silicone case and I have the LifeProof case. I am really happy with both options.

Im still rocking the Note 8 but I found the case id been looking for. The iBlaison magma. Has a built in screen protector that actually works without sacrificing sensitivity.
Whitestone dome is the protector you want, have one for my note 8

Can you do a video on the Love Mei case for the note 9?
I use a wet-installed protector and keeping all dust out is near impossible with the included materials and being patient with keeping the edges down was annoying, but it's all good now.
From experience tech21 cases are great. I have had one for my s8 pixel 2 and note 9 and haven't broken a single one.
Are you going to test out screen protectors?
The last case seems great. Does it have a stand to hold up the phone for movies?

5 and below, have Samsung and iPhone cases the are of course $5 and under .. and some are really tough cases for being so cheap.. and they have cute cases that are more for looks than durability... just a little FYI 😉 great video by the way... I Know I'm late..✌️🌼👍👍

Alcantara is missing this year. Strange. I liked it so much on the S9 series or Note8 last year.
