@@DaMorg3 The board doesn't flip since the wheels dont suddenly grip the road, and it helps that he positions his weight behind the board and low.
The wheels do wear down but if you avoid a 90 degree angle to the road while sliding (keep the board at a slight angle away from the 90) the wheels will continue to spin while rubbing against the road causing an even wearing down.

I must say, as an ex-skater in the 70s, I would’ve never have attempted that on such a short board or such narrow trucks! You were incredible, and the old guy in me said “oh my god, how dangerous!” The ex-skater in me remembered being towed by a motorbike at 100km/h and being stopped by the Police for doing 62km/h in a 50km/h. Great ride with balls of steel.

DH longboards decks have Really shorten these past 8 years. Specially here.
Fiberglass/carbon plys though. Trucks are reversed king pins, not standard like in skateboards, and few other new geometric trucks set up are around, extra wide wheels with real hubs.
      And Diego's skills.

    • @pgVeritas

@@Terry-1973 Hats off to him!. There were Gull Wing Trucks (split axle with a 30 degree reverse king pin) back in the day. I used them on my Turner Summer Ski, Full Nose, which apparently, if I still had it, would be worth a fortune, now. Especially, after the racing success I had on it. I will not say anymore, because the last time I did, I got a torrent of abuse from nobodies, who weren't there! Needless to say, I wish my balls were still made of steel. Unfortunately, the realisation of my mortality has softened them!

I always have to stop and think when I see comments like this. How can a man flying down a hill on a skateboard provide hope for humanity (for our future)? It's very impressive, but for me it brings nothing to humanity. It's self indulgent adrenaline seeking. Again, I'm not saying it's not worth doing if that's what 'floats your boat', I'm not saying it's not impressive, but hope for humanity, or hope for the ever changing world? that makes no sense to me.

This is so crazy, holy shit! I ride EUCs that go 55+mph but this is so much more insane.
Any slightest mistake or board components failure and its most likely instant death. Congrats on such a crazy fun run, I was an intense watch!

I have done about 80 km/h with inline skates in a steep slope (24 years ago) and used a piece of plastic (called 'Liukuri' in Finland) as a sledge in a downhill skiing resort up to 90 km/h (32 years ago). But this was something else. 👍
