For 50 years Cyprus has been at peace. Have the Greeks got an itch they can't scratch is living in peace and prosperity to much for them? EOKA A and B were not the same. EOKA A wanted Turks with them officially and members were ordered not to target Turks ( but unofficially and I only learned this recently some members did try to get people to avoid buying from Turkish shops etc)
I will say pre 1974 as a child I was given money for sweets and specifically told to go to turkish shop to buy them but was cautioned to avoid any conflict I mistakenly thought at the time conflict with Turks but now realise it could have been conflict with greeks for using a turkish shop.

It would have created a segregated nation example Turkish Cypriots could live anywhere but Greeks max 20% or so in the North only that is not the basis of a successful cohesive nation.

In 1974 the greek dictator Papadopoulos tried to overthrow the government of Cyprus, with the goal to annex the Island.
Turkey was a guarantor state meaning it was given the mandate by the Brits to intervene militarily if necessary.
When Makarios (President of Cyprus) was overthrown by greek rebels, the Turkish army conducted a military operation named Attila 1 to endure stability in the region. The operation was successful and the Cypriot government was reestablished.
However, later in the same year Turkey invaded Cyprus with a military operation named Attila 2, and occupied the northern part of the island. They have not left since then.
Not a single country in the world acknowledges the now turkish part of cyprus as a state, since it is officially declared to be an illegaly occupied region. Turks are trying to somehow explain that they have annexed the land, or that they are still Guarantors of peace. They repeat anything their dictator tells them to believe. Just like parrots.
The Kurdish people are the i digenous people of the biggest part of Turkey. They were there long before Turks decended from mongolia and conquered the land. The turkish government has in fact commited ethnic cöeansing against the i digenous Kurdish people, who never fully accepted the Turkish culture

It had been decades long issue before the peace operation due to their attacks to Turkish population, not stemmed from only coup. In the end, Türkiye decided to intervene according to her legal rights in international agreements to save the Turkish population. After the operation guns are silenced, bloodshed between Greek and Turkish communities stopped. There are only crying Greek nationalists who have desired subduing Turks and uniting with Greece.

The Ottomans got fed up and requested the Venetians cede the island to the Ottomans to avoid a future naval conflict with the Venetians, and to bury the pirates. Venetians refused, so the Ottomans formally declared war.
In contrast, the Brits didn't declare war, they rented the island from the Ottomans, and then suddenly stopped paying rent, unilaterally taking the island because the Turks sided with the Germans in WWI; a bizarre grab, since Cyprus had nothing to do with WWI
