  • In this video we will go over the steps and products needed to change you fluids in your differentials and transfer case. Transfer case will only be if you have AWD, but every vehicle has a rear differential and that fluid needs to be changed sooner rather than later. Some people neglect this key piece of maintenance necessary for keeping you vehicles driving flawlessly. I used ‪@AMSOILinc‬ severe gear oil for my front and rear differentials and their AT4 fluid. Amsoil fluids cost a little bit more than OEM but are far superior and make your car parts running better and smoother.
    Front differential uses a 8mm hex socket
    Rear differential uses a 8mm hex socket for the fill plug and 10mm for Drain plug
    Transfer case uses a 8mm hex socket, but may require some redneck thinking to get to the fill plug

    Hey Matty! I have a 2018 SRT, and last week , I called Dodge London and asked this question : Do I need to service my transfer case or differential? They said no! Now ...in the owners manual, they state that it should be done around 100k if I m not mistaken

      Everything needs maintenance. Some things more often than others. Depending on how you drive it may need to be sooner. I have driven this 392 pretty hard doing lots of things so I just wanted to swap those fluids before 40k. You can see how dirty the transfer case fluid was when it came out. Brand new it’s red but it came out almost black. Front differential wasn’t bad at all and the back was just the break in fluid from the dealer so it was dirty yet it had metal pieces in it from the break in

      You are mistaken for the diffs by a ton bro. It's part of the 54k mile service.

    No limited slip additive used for the rear!? A lot of other videos use it.

      No need to use it with Amsoil. I havent had any issues. My buddy said if i hear anything we can always put some in but all is good so no need. Save the $10 or whatever it costs.

      Definitely get the one with friction modifier in it. They say you will ruin the LSD clutches pretty quick without it. Some on the forums even add a little to the stuff that comes with it.

    Durango GT same process? What type of oil & fluid?

      Yes pretty much all Durangos have close to same drivetrain but there’s uniformity still of how to change everything. I’m using Amsoil severe gear oil for the differentials and then atf4 fluid for transfer case

    Do you know if I can I use the same fluids for a 2015 Durango?

      Ya should be same

    Did you not use the mopar friction modifier for the rear diff?

    • @MattySRT
      @MattySRT  2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      No need to with amsoil. It’s already built in.

      Yeah, i read this about the amsoil after my comment. Im still hesitant to go to 75W90 rather than the specified 75W85. i know it probably fine but... @MattySRT

    What os the rear brace used for?

    • @MattySRT
      @MattySRT  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Think of it as a extra strength device to keep your rear differential in place during extreme driving. Keeps things tight and adds more strength and contact point to keep things in place. Kinda like when a body builder wears a back brace during heavy lifting, helps support a lot better.

      Ok sweet. Btw this video help me tremendously. I used my SRT Durango heavily. Just drove to Alaska and California from new jersey. Felt a knocking heading back home. Long story short my transfer case fluid was low. Thanks for the video.

    7:18 explained how he created a special tool for the fill hole because the exhaust pipe is in the way but then showed a completely different tool altogether.. 🤦‍♂️

      Good catch. I had edited this at 2 different times and we originally couldn’t find his big Allen wrench that fit in there to break the plug loose so we had rigged that tool. In the video we found it and I forgot to remove that part from video. Thank you for the clarification.
