@@bottlerocket3218 She should sue the officers and the entire police department. Make such a wave they change the law and require radar or some other accurate method of speed determination. It is super easy to exaggerate on a thing like that. On the highway I always see people who seem to whiz right past me. I am aware they might be moving maybe 5 or 10 MPH more than me. Heck, a fast walk is anywhere from 2 to 5 MPH approximately (not a run). In a way I am glad that they do not act on word of mouth aside from watching for the suspect to see if he or she is really at that speed. We are human and we all make mistakes. These mistakes need correction through learning from them. I also believe that if any device in her vehicle was monitoring her speed a jury would not be needed so much or that said jury would be compelled to consider ALL of that evidence, lest they undermine the judicial system and the trust placed in it.

The reason is the majority of people are just trying to get somewhere and are not financially capable of covering the cost associated with such charges. So once you arrest them and blast them with costly tickets you're putting an extreme amount of pressure on the person which could lead to worse situations. Now I get speed kills and this and that; however, as long as no one was hurt and the person seems like they understand what they did, move on. There are far bigger issues in most areas than speeding. The speedster was speeding anyway, the cop does not say that SHE was hitting 90, in fact she says it was an estimated of 80.
and that area is a 45, so it does not matter if she was hitting a 60, 70 or 80, the cop had to hit 90 to catch up after she passed her (wich is normal)
this comment is not to justify the wrong behaviour of the cop, as the problem here is the action based on the flip of a coin and this act is atrocious, but regardless of the REAL problem with the wrongdoing... the speedster is guilty of speeding (that part is like true and the speedster itself acknowledged she was driving at "80" as she does not denies this saying she was driving much slower)

I was charged back in 1982, in the UK, with doing 60 mph in a 40 limit. I went to court having measured the road distances and showed that, if I was doing 40, the cop had to average (not max) 60 mph to catch me. If I had actually been doing 60 - he'd need to average (again, not max) 135 mph - in a vehicle with a rated top speed of 118...
Back in those days, two officers opinions, or one and a calibrated speedometer, were enough to charge.
Edit - found not guilty and awarded costs, against the police.

If I'm on a jury and the officer says, "She was going 80 or 85. I had to go 90 to catch her." I'm completely disregarding any estimate from that officer. Simple math says 85 is not possible.

These officers were sickening. I'm so glad they were fired. That woman didn't commit an offense worth being arrested. She was very calm under the circumstances especially after being traumatized. People with inferiority complexes should never have authority. I can tell by the way she talks she enjoys having power and it amuses her to decide how others are punished.

I agree, I was thinking why not just give her a ticket? She stated she was running late for work, you ESTIMATED her speed, and she wasn't drunk or found with anything in her car, she even fully complied even though she didn't agree...its seems depending on the cop is simply how your experience goes instead of all of them following the same laws smh!

I've worked with a lot of police officers during the 12 years I worked as a paramedic. I noticed that most of the cops had been bullied in school or had parents who were on the force. The bullied now have power that they never felt before and are on a power trip every chance they find. Especially if it's the sort of person they feared most. The legacy cops learned early on that they could do whatever they wanted and have it "taken care of" thus learned to be dirty and get away with it. So few were there with care for the actual people who they were to serve and protect 😪

I've yet to encounter a female cop who didn't have an attitude. Chest puffery, snarky demeanour, male posturing, tough talking, power tripping.

Just a bit of insight: if you had to "get up to 90 to catch her" then she wasn't going 90. Think about it.....

She sounds pretty dramatic so I wouldn't be surprised if almost 90 to her is 80 and what looked like 80 to her with no proof could've been between 60-70. Not making assumptions just saying I wouldn't be surprised

The real irony here is these two tried to flip a coin to determine whether or not they would arrest her, but the same coin flip was what ended up causing both of them to lose their jobs.
