    The link in the description gives all the details but chicken in cold brine topped w some ice cubes in fridge in morning. Oven 400 degrees cook for 40 min to an hour till bottom is chestnut brown and crispy, then use thin spatula to flip cook another 20 min. But really this is good info to add to a video

    Due to the editing, was this double dredged? Also what is the temp of the oven and how long... it looks delicious but wish there were more details. I would also add a bit of cayenne and garlic / onion powders to the flour for a bit more flavor...

      Hi Chris! The oven temp is 400F, and the thighs oven-fry for 40-60 minutes (depending on their size). Here is the recipe page with full instructions: f52.co/33zsAOU

    Can we stop NOT thinking about throw away plastic bags? Use a bowl with a lid, thousands and thousands of uses before it needs to be disposed of. Yes, it may be plastic but replacing one plastic bowl after thousands of uses compared to single use zip tops bags going into landfill is a far better choice. I like stainless steel with a silicone stretch cover. Okay, rant over eating chicken now!

    Brine - Add 3tbls of salt to 1 cup warm water dissolve then add chicken cover rest of the way with ice water place in fridge to sit for 4-8 hours
    Prep#1- Place nonstick cooking sheet in oven at 400 to heat
    Take chicken remove from brine pat dry with paper towel as much as possible
    Prep#2-Place flour salt and pepper into one gallon bag
    Breading- Coat your chicken one piece at a time by shaking it in bag and knocking off excess flour when removing from the bag -
    KEY-you want the flour to be a light coating and not thick and pasty
    Prep#3- Remove your preheated pan from oven place raw butter on top of pan to melt spreading it across
    Cook- Place chicken skin side down on pre heated and buttered pan place in oven at 400 for 30-40 minutes or until golden flip with a thin spatula making sure to scrape between the chicken and the pan first to separate it from pan so kin doesn't stick Then cook an additional 30-40 or until chicken reaches safe eating temperature

    My mom made this “oven fried chicken” 60+ years ago. Only difference was, we used Bisquick instead of flour. Really good with Munster Cheese melted on, after chicken. Will also work on boneless, skinless. Jut no as crispy. To overcome this I have made my flour 50/50 bisquick/cornstarch. After all the chicken has dipped, we put the mix in the freezer to reuse. Thank you for sharing this

    To all asking questions. They flipped them half way through you can tell by the crispy flat tops. And dude do you never cook chicken? Try like 410-430 for maybe 25 minuets give or take. Watch it and experiment, so it browns right amd doesnt burn but hit it with a thermometer to break 165 internally.

    Watched this video too and didn't get any cooking details and it sounds like very bland seasoning. When I had the pleasure of working with Sara Moulton at Gourmet a Magazine I fell in love with this recipe from Jean Anderson that she made. It is garlic butter at its finest. I replace fresh breadcrumbs with Japanese panko. Delicious! Enjoy people!!! I'm very serious about the delicious part...saramoulton.com/2014/07/jean-andersons-oven-fried-chicken-with-sides/

    So you soak it in brine solution all day, coat it in flour, place in a buttered pan, and it's done?? Seems like chicken sushi to me...
    ...but what the heck I'll give it a try. Just don't be surprised when my lawyer contacts you regarding the medical bills I accrued as a result of my salmonella poisoning.

  • @robinlillian9471
    @robinlillian9471 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    There's no reason to heat the pan in advance and possibly burn yourself. Rub the butter on a cold pan to grease it. That works fine. Then cut up the butter into small pieces & sprinkle evenly on the bottom before adding the chicken. It will work the same once you put the chicken in the oven to bake. Butter melts easily enough.

      Isn't the crisp better with a hot pan? The same way with a hot pizza stone. This is a question and not a snarky comment. I really want to know.

    You didn't mention chicken breasts. Is there a reason? Longer baking time?

    • @arthurprs
      @arthurprs 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think that by the time the crust sets (40-60min at 200C) the meat would be extremely dry. Dark meat is extremely resilient to overcooking, which allows this recipe work.

    • @GlenAndFriendsCooking

      Chicken breasts would be dry as a bone by the time the skin was crispy.

    "A stove-friendly pan"? Apart from the appalling English, what use would a pan be if you couldn't use it on a stove? Apart from that you do not "fry" in an oven: you roast.

    • @aiai-j7i
      @aiai-j7i 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think (from the movement she makes) she is referring to a roasting sheet-pan one uses in the oven, not a skillet.

    Can you just incorporate the actual recipe/instructions in the video? This is such an inefficient and uninformative format. Just make it less besides-the-point chatty and more simple, cut the background music--we are not all attention-deficit and why oh why do American women insist on speaking like frogs...vocal fry...does anyone find this pleasing to listen to? This is not a natural condition, but an affectation to be taken more serious. Just stop.
