There have been volunteering forces from both sides, long before the invasion of 2022.
What's different now is that Russia brought conscripts from another country to fight for Russia, something the European Union and the US are yet to do.
Hopefully now this will give Carta blanch to the rest of (Eastern) Europe to bring in Troops to the front.

Besides wanting to stick a thumb in the eyes of England after the losses in the French and Indian war (seven year war), France wanted to regain its lost trade but knew it couldn't go against England directly so soon. So they covertly supported the United States by sending military supplies until 1778 when they signed the "Treaty of Amity and Commerce" which outright recognized the US as sovereign. It was followed in the same day (or close to it) by the signing of the "Treaty of Alliance" which made France directly involved and they sent 6000 troops to America. The interesting part of this as it allowed other European nations to join which proved beneficial when England retaliated against them in yet another European war. The war heads went to Russia the missiles and bombers were disassembled with help from the U.S. The conditions for disarmament were security guarantees and Ukraine getting paid for the nuclear material in the war heads. The U.S. was a signatory of both disarmament agreements and since Russia violated the agreement Ukraine should technically get the war heads back however Russia’s not going to do that. So as a signatory the U.S. could technically give Ukraine nukes as replacements for what Ukraine gave up, though I doubt they would ever agree to it. The worst possible scenario is Trump pulling aid to Ukraine because it would tell the entire world that denuclearisation makes you a target for other countries and that the only real way to protect your borders is with nukes. This could lead to another nuclear arms race with any non NATO country racing to get Nukes for protection

Instead of sending ours how about Ukraine activate their own 18-25yr olds? They've been critical on manpower for a long time, with some units not rotating off the line for months at a time. They're fighting for their right to exist as a free people, I want them to win but they're not going to if they don't bring in people who's bodies are in prime fighting age. This age group won the world wars and countless others before it over history, to think you could beat Russia who still has millions at their disposal without this age group is just ridiculous.....

Why you crying? What'd you think you were joining for? A nice cushy job to just kick back? I did my time in the British Army, 2 deployments under Op Herrick. It's a great life man, but my advice for you is don't join a combat role, get a job you can use on the outside afterwards trust me, I was infantry and it's been rough ever since getting out. I've been fortunate enough that my family owns 2 skip wagon companies so I got a job in the office at one of the yards, but without them I'd probably still be unemployed, not much out there in the civ world for someone who only has combat experience.
