I think this car should comes with 16 inch rim as standard, or thicker tire sidewall. The proportion seems to be better. The standard wheel makes the wheel arch looks empty.
wei liang Tan Eibach springs have a slightly stiffer spring rate which gives better handling and performance compared to stock springs. 👍🏻 Eibach also lowers the car a bit for better look when using bigger rims with lower profile tyres. 🚗
@@DesertGoon thank you for the reply, I was wondering if they need to remove wool cover at the back to access the rear suspension mount for a check and possible replacement as I am having some vibration when going uneven road surfaces at certain speed.
Eibach springs are designed to be fitted with stock dampers although other or better aftermarket dampers are recommended. For example on a BMW, Eibach springs are well suited for stock dampers but they are also sold with Bilstein as an option (B12 package).
Hi bro. Tried it with 4 or 5 passengers and no problem of hitting the fender. 🙅🏻♂️ Eibach springs are progressive 📈 so the stronger they get pressed, the harder they become. 😊
Alep Farhan Hello... You have asked a very good question. Technically speaking, I would say no need to change the springs when changing to bigger rims and a lower tyre profile... but you might want to consider it for the following reasons: 1. Stock springs tend to yield a bigger fender gap due to being softer (for sag allowance). When you change to bigger rims and lower profile tyres, they may cause the fender gap to look not so nice due to unequal gap sizes on the side and top of the wheels. 2. To fix the fender gap size we usually change to lowering springs which have a slightly stiffer spring rate so that the car doesn't sag too much while under load. In summary it's done for the look for most people... and performance for some. ✌🏻☺
Hello sir, i have some queries here and hopefully the community can tell me more about them :D. 1. I would like to know why you are not replacing both stock spring and damper at once but just go for spring replacement? 2. Is there any possibility to mount a coil over? What about it's effect compared to the separated ones? 3. Are you planning to replace the stock drum rear brakes to solid disc brakes(like it's predecessor)? What is opinion and advice? 4. What would be the future mods on persona? :D
1. My car is only 1 year old and has covered 20k km. The shock absorbers are still fine so I'm re-using them with Eibach springs until they wear out. Perhaps the next change is Bilstein when the current absorbers are due. 2. You can do that and I think GAB has one for Persona. Tuning it to individual need may require several adjustments. 3. I haven't thought of that but if there is a plug & play option then I'm more than happy to consider it. I feel that Persona needs a slightly stronger brake which is more convincing and trustworthy. Maybe fitting better brake pads or rotors are feasible. 4. A simple one like changing tail light bulbs to LED ones for more interesting lighting. 😜 Other mods... let me think about them 1st.
If for some reason I felt that the persona'a suapension system is bit too comfort biased and I would like to make it bit more supportive while maintaining some of the comfortness, should I replace the spring, damper, or both 😋. Man, I have weak knowledge on suspension system
Yann Hwa Tan In a nutshell, the main component of a suspension is the spring. The softness or hardness of a suspension is mainly determined by the spring (its spring rate) so if you want to improve it then you may change the spring. ✌🏻 Shock absorber only dampens the sudden movement of up or down. Generally the stock shock absorber is enough to pair with an aftermarket spring but I would consider other brands like Bilstein, Sachs etc. 😋
Hello... 🙋♂️ I don't like the feel of stock springs so I opted for Eibach which is a step-up in my opinion. They also lower the car a bit and improve its handling. 👍🏻
Hello Afiq. 🙋♂️ The black roof is a wrap which I did at a shop near P.D. It can be done at any wrap/sticker shop near you. ✌🏻 I think the black roof adds an element of 'sportiness' to the car. 😄
Sir, how the stiffness of the new spring setup? Too hard as adjustable applicant or just nice? Im looking for the sport spring since my waist/back cant hold the adjustable's stiffness...
Afdzal Aizat From my own observation and experience in using the Eibach springs, they feel slightly stiffer than stock springs. To me they are just nice and comfortable enough for daily or family use. 👍🏻
@@DesertGoon hi Sir, i am wondering if you are still using the same car with same sport spring. I just got my new persona and intend to change the spring to lower it abit, with daily travelling and family use, alot recommend Ftuned but when I see your video, I am more interested to find out how does this brand perform for last 3 yrs

Hello there... At the time for this car purchase, the new MyVi wasn't launched yet. Anyway I opted for a Persona 🚘 over MyVi due to luggage space and better handling of Persona. ✌🏻 Persona 🚗 also has better safety rating (5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ASEAN NCAP) over the previous MyVi. 🙂
@@DesertGoon I see. What if you were to make a decision now with the new myvi is already out. Would you still choose Persona over it? Cause right now I'm leaning more towards myvi for FC. Other than that I'd go for Persona.
@@iGobyy I think the decision depends on this scenario. 🤔 If it's my only car and it's for family use then I would pick Persona but if it's for a 2nd car then I may consider the new MyVi. 🤪
Hello sir. As the stock rims were 15" and you changed to 16" right? I know somehow it will affect the fuel consumption. Could you share with me what do you experience regarding the fuel consumption after changing to 16"? And would you recommend as I am a quite a traveler Johor-Penang?
koko-Ro Hello there... Yes my wheels are 16" and as far as I'm aware there is no noticeable difference in the fuel consumption. In reality my tyres now are slightly bigger in their perimeter so for a turn of wheel it travels slightly farther although this is marginal. The rims are also not heavy so all these factors help to keep the consumption pretty much the same (or better). ✌🏻😎 The increased stability and tyre grip are the benefits which I enjoy the most. 😁 In your case I believe there shouldn't be a problem for your long distance commuting.
koko-Ro You're welcome. Congrats on your Persona purchase. 👍🏻 There are quite a bit of things we can do to the car... just do it slowly based on your priority and available budget. For example, a dashcam 📹 should also be a good item to add... ☺th-cam.com/video/kDawMKSQXHM/w-d-xo.html
Hi. Thanks for the nice words. 🙂 A Saga Premium spec comes with 185/55/15 tyres so if you change them to 195/50/15 tyres, the net result is you have slightly smaller tyres so I wouldn't advise you to do so. 🙅♂️
@@DesertGoon I see, thanks for the awesome feedbacks. Mine is Saga VVT Standard Auto. Using 13 inch original rims. Well, can you suggest me what to use? Im looking for comfort ride and of course for the looks.. 😍😍
@@Thetruckcode Coming from existing 13" tyres (Saga Standard spec size 175/70/13) in your case I think you can upsize to 14" (Saga Executive spec size 185/60/14) ... or 15" 👍🏻 (Saga Premium spec size 185/55/15) which I think should suit your car very well. I did compare the circumference of 175/70/13 tyre and it's almost the same size as 195/50/15 tyre so you can use this size/profile if your rim supports the width. ✌🏻
Hello, just got my new wheels installed. 15inch rims and 195/50 tyres. But i noticed there is a small vibration on the steering wheel. Its annoying. Already installed centre cone but problem still there. Is the tyre is not well balanced? Any advise? Thanks. 😊
@@Thetruckcode If I recall, my rims are not fitted with any cone at the centre as I believe if the rims are meant for the car they won't need such cones. In your case the tyre is probably not properly balanced. Try to go back to the shop and re-do the balancing. If the rim is not new, check if it is bent or not even. If it's new then this shouldn't be an issue.
Visited Proton Centre of Excellence yesterday. The SA told me most drivers tend to change the tyres as the pre installed rims are not compatible with the tyres in the market. Mind to share how much you spent for the new rims and tyres? And what is the purpose of changing those springs?
Ahmad Haziq Azlan The rims cost RM1.8k+ if I recalled, and the tyres were RM260 each. I changed the springs because the stock ones are a bit too soft and too high which may not look nice with bigger wheels. 😁
Any drawbacks on the heaver rims+ lowered springs? Ive used eibachs many times on my different rides over the yrs and thy r the best simply bcos they dont go crazy low, n still have that element of comfort in it...
So far I haven't noticed much difference in the rotational mass (wheel weight) perhaps upsizing to 16" only. Initially I thought the car would be lowered significantly since I couldn't find any sample pics 🤔 but in the end I would say marginally lowered than stock. By finger measurement the fender gap is now about two fingers. ✌🏻 This is the third car which I have used Eibach springs and I like the product because it still gives some comfort so no complain from maam. 🤣
Hi sir. I have queries on two things. How much does the spring cost n does it affects the comfort while driving? Had mine 16 inch wheels installed with exact same tyre size as urs. Think reducing the height would makes it look a lot better as what u did there. Thanks in advance!
Faiq Haroon Hello... I bought the spring for RM780 from here. www.mudah.my/Eibach+Pro+Kit+SPRING+FOR+PROTON+IRIZ+NEW+PERSONA-57594563.htm The spring is slightly firmer but it's still very much comfortable for family ride. 👌🏻 In fact my family didn't complain at all... as if nothing was changed! 😁
Hakaigo I think 16" may be just fine for a Saga and it will look cool. However fitting larger wheels like 17" may rob some power from the engine due to heavier tyres/rims (rotational mass). 👎
thanks for ur opinion and explanation, yahh sometime i worried about large wheel because it will be heavier the car. Thanks bro! You are awesome, keep making video.
hello, how do you choose springs for cars? eibach is the most expensive i can find. i seen some likes bestec , APM zerone etc some that are so cheap around rm100 it raise an eyebrow whether these cheap spring are really function. What other more budget spring will you recommend?
ChaosSaberX I often searched and tried to read some reviews before choosing a product. For car springs or suspension I would go for a well known brand which offers products for various cars. Eibach is a reputable German company for car springs and their products are usually good so in my case it's fairly safe to bet on them although the Pro-kit springs are understandably not cheap. 👍🏻 Some local spring products for Proton are quite hard and not so comfortable for family use. Anyway please choose a product which fits your requirements and budget... and if there is a constraint, go for one which is least compromised. ✌🏻☺
DesertGoon i see okay2 thank you. I'm gonna get this car soon probably by this week and to be honest i like the design because it is solid. It's just that the wheels is kinda small for that size of a car hahaha so i was thinking of changing to 17 rims. Any tips?? Anyways thank you for the price range. Now i can set a budget. Btw your enkei looks nice boss. It suits the car👍👍
Persona is quite an interesting car especially after you change the wheels to aftermarket ones. 😎 Stock wheels at 15" are just not a good match for the car's external look. 👎🏻 I think 17" will look nice on a Persona... but its engine power will be robbed by the weight of 17" wheels so I decided going against that option unless you can find lightweight 17" wheels (which can be costly). 💰😅
According to tyre calculator app, the new tyre size will show a speedo figure at 100kmh while the actual speed is 102.9kmh (on the previous size) but since our car speedo usually has a tendency to show a higher reading than actual GPS figure then the new reading should be closer to GPS value. Anyway I haven't checked with Waze speed reading but will let you know if I do check.
Thanks mate. I did a short drive near my house last night and I noticed the speedo was showing 60kmh while Waze speed indicator was showing 58kmh. ✌🏻 I think what I said earlier was correct so I am happy with my current tyre size. 🤗
Runaway Lucifer You're probably right on the rim size but with its mediocre engine power I don't think fitting 17" wheels will be the best idea. Regarding warranty issue, I'm not sure about the effect of making modifications to the whole warranty coverage. It probably affects the relevant parts or components only. 🤔 I had made some modifications to the wheels and exhaust on my other car (Germanbrand) and it didn't affect a warranty claim which I did. ✌🏻 But anyhow, I hope I don't have much issue with this Persona... 🙏
@@syafizan88 I think if you check out Avanti, they have some nice rims which have the suitable offset. Try browsing their website or contact their dealer to find out about the rims. 🙂

Hello... From my usage of this spring and rim, there is no issue of sagging or fender hitting the wheel when on full load. 👍🏻 I did a real test with 5 adults in the car and not even once the fender touched the wheel while the car was moving and turning. ✌🏻😄 Please make sure you choose the right offset for the rim.
Nice vlog and clean yet nice persona you got there..sy tgh konfius skrg either nk pilih inspira dgn evo kit atau amek persona je bought as secondhand,dua2 lbh kurg je hrga skrg, can't go wrong with either purchase
crysisownz Inspira is definitely a bigger and better car if compared to a Persona. It's essentially a Lancer which was Japanese designed. ✌🏻 If the price of a used Inspira is quite similar to a used Persona's then perhaps Inspira is a better choice but you have to check its condition first. Persona is fine for a small family since the interior/cabin size isn't that big.
@@mamat8011 Hi bro. You can install 17" wheels but usually bigger rims will go with wider tyres (lower profile) so this might make the wheels slightly heavier. Considering a Persona doesn't have too much power I would not recommend doing so. But to answer your question, technically you can do that.
are those sport spring?? whats the different before and after?? planning to get one for my new Myvi since i feel the suspensions are soft and too much floating feeling during high speed
jackchew0511 Yes they are Eibach Pro-kit springs which lower and stiffen the car a bit. The improvement in handling is quite obvious to me... less floating and bouncing. 👍🏻 If there is one available for your car, I certainly recommend it (Eibach). 😎
after watching this video it just add my adrenaline to own this persona over city. simple n nice mode, mind share the grey skirt is it standard from 2016 model? with new persona 2019 and the mode idea, the decision now is almost certain. thanks.

I'm just afraid wider tyres may be heavier and rob the engine power which is not that much on a stock Persona. 😎 Anyway 195 wide is already a step wider than stock tyre at 185 wide. ✌🏻
rizaljpam Yan Thanks bro. Just to give some ideas to Persona owners... There are quite a number of nice wheel options available in the market so just pick one which looks the nicest and fits the budget. 😁
Hi, blh share x tips utk memilih rim utk persona 2016 ni? keliru dgn nombor2 seperti 17x7, 17x7.5 (min, max) etc. and the minimum and maximum offset yg dpt masok utk persona. Thank you.
For rim size/spec usually it's written as, for example 16x7JJ which means 16" diameter and 7" wide. The width of rim will determine the maximum width of tyre which can be fitted. If not mistaken, 7JJ can take 195 up to 215. My tyre choice for Persona is 195/50/16 although the rim can take 215/45/16. You can check this website for wheel conversion... ✌🏻 tiresize.com/converter/ For offset if the number is bigger it means the wheel is more inward. In my opinion the best rim offset for Person is 40 which fits nicely even if you lower the car. You may want to check out Advanti, Enkei and some other brands which offer nice designs which suit Persona. Your eyes can go 'kelabu' when browsing them... 🤣
DesertGoon Meaning that, if i were to choose a rim with an offset of let say +25 or +45, it can fit into the car? just the width from the centerline differs?
To be frank I've not tried driving the car with full load (passengers & luggage) but... I believe it shouldn't be a problem since the wheel offset (+40) is very well suited for the car and the Eibach spring is progressive meaning as it gets more load it'll be stiffer and bottom out. Here is the forward facing side view of the rear wheel... scontent.fkul13-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/27868111_10215220875336716_8302015267298788674_n.jpg?oh=42785df562c06f930bbd5906957f3240&oe=5B038263

Personally I don't enjoy the rims design. I prefer the original plus diy 2 tone version. Haha. Can you suggest or review about the tyre choice for comfort use?
I understand everyone may have a different or own taste which is perfectly normal. Before deciding on this rim design I surveyed several models from Advanti and Enkei. The reason for my selection was that I want a larger rim than stock 15" so that I have better tyre choices and I picked SC24 due to the look of five twin-spokes which make the rim appear "hollow/spacious" and big. 😎
DesertGoon Agreed personal taste. Totally agree ps4 currently don't have 15 inc version yet. Stock tyre is very noisy I hope I can change it soon after 2 years.
Mac Dillian Rebin Yes it feels very good... 👍🏻 So far I had tried in dry condition and it performed well. Will see how it fares in wet condition 🌧 then I may conclude. 😎

Rock Steady Thanks for viewing and the compliment. This was done with a reasonable budget only so for those who have a bigger budget 💰, they definitely can do better for their cars. 😃
I was considering tyre choices which offer 195/50/16 size and for performance tyres I found there are not that many options. It's between Yokohama Bluearth AE50 and Toyo Proxes T1-R and I picked the later due to positive feedbacks from some friends who use it on their BMWs. If you want more comfort perhaps you can try Bluearth AE50. Frankly speaking I would love to try Michelin PS4 tyre but it doesn't come in the size I'm looking for. *Sob*
DesertGoon Haha, your pick is totally different with the mass market. Noted bro. I will put into consideration list. Anymore suggestions for comfort type tyre that I can survey? Thanks a lot
The weight increase would be negligible considering you are already using genuine wheels rather than those commonly seen replicas (rm500-600, these are heavy enough to begin with). I would recommend you to go for PS4 on your next change where that extra width would assure you better stability together making use of your Eibach springs, but of course at the expense of a slight increase of FC, again negligible unless specifically looked into.
Nice modification. My persona is fitted with Advanti Kenta which has similar design to SC24 but with 8 spokes. I choose 205/50r16 to maintain the tyre thickness profile.
John Hariz That's an interesting choice you made. I was a bit reluctant to go for 205 wide in consideration of potentially additional weight associated with a wider and bigger tyre. 🍩 Since you like a wider tyre, perhaps you could've considered 205/45/16 which is closer to the perimeter figure of the orig tyre but as long as you're happy with your setup then it's fine. 👌🏻☺
DesertGoon It is my intention to increase the height of the car with bigger wheels rather than lowering it. The oversized tow hitch design under the car always give me problems with the speed bumps. 😩
John Hariz Ok noted. So far I haven't got a problem with any speed bumps... at least the ones in my residential area. Usually if we go at a reasonable speed over the hump it shouldn't be an issue, imo. 🙇

how is the comfort and handling after you change the spring and tyre?
raja syamil The car feels more planted on the road... less bouncy and more stable. Comfortwise it's very good and nice for the family to ride. 👍🏻
Hi, is it necessary to change the spring if i wish to change to the bigger rim size?
Alep Farhan Hello... You have asked a very good question. Technically speaking, I would say no need to change the springs when changing to bigger rims and a lower tyre profile... but you might want to consider it for the following reasons:
Thanks for detailed information sir. I'll carry on with some researches on them. Thank you!

Uncle, is there any particular reason why you chose Persona over Myvi 2018?
Hello there... At the time for this car purchase, the new MyVi wasn't launched yet. Anyway I opted for a Persona 🚘 over MyVi due to luggage space and better handling of Persona. ✌🏻 Persona 🚗 also has better safety rating (5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ASEAN NCAP) over the previous MyVi. 🙂
@@DesertGoon I see. What if you were to make a decision now with the new myvi is already out. Would you still choose Persona over it?

Wow, I am looking forward to mods my car maybe next one/two year ahead. Just got this car for 2018.

What a nice car sir! Quick question,i owned a Saga VVT.. would it be nice if i use 15 inch rims 7jj and 195/50/15 tyre..?

I have the same persona with same color. You just gave me the idea to spray the brake caliper which i would do it on my own.
Hi. It's great if you can do it yourself. 👍🏻 I think technically it's not that difficult... 🙂

I bought the spring for RM780 from here. www.mudah.my/Eibach+Pro+Kit+SPRING+FOR+PROTON+IRIZ+NEW+PERSONA-57594563.htm

Just asking ur opnion, 16" or 17" wheel suit for saga flx?
Hakaigo I think 16" may be just fine for a Saga and it will look cool. However fitting larger wheels like 17" may rob some power from the engine due to heavier tyres/rims (rotational mass). 👎

hello, how do you choose springs for cars? eibach is the most expensive i can find. i seen some likes bestec , APM zerone etc some that are so cheap around rm100 it raise an eyebrow whether these cheap spring are really function.
Hi,
May i know much how did it cost you for the spring and the enkei wheels?
Hello... the Enkei rims cost about RM1.7k if I recall and the Eibach springs cost RM780.
DesertGoon ummmm true true. It'll effect the power also right.
Yes it'll be certainly affected if there is higher sprung weight of the wheels. If you can live with "style but less power"... than it's fine. 😁
Does the speedometer reading read much less accurately now?
According to tyre calculator app, the new tyre size will show a speedo figure at 100kmh while the actual speed is 102.9kmh (on the previous size) but since our car speedo usually has a tendency to show a higher reading than actual GPS figure then the new reading should be closer to GPS value. Anyway I haven't checked with Waze speed reading but will let you know if I do check.
DesertGoon thanks bro. Waiting for your update! Great videos btw!
:)
Thanks mate. I did a short drive near my house last night and I noticed the speedo was showing 60kmh while Waze speed indicator was showing 58kmh. ✌🏻 I think what I said earlier was correct so I am happy with my current tyre size. 🤗
16in still look small to me. I thik 17in will do. I heard warranty will void if u change the ori wheels
seem nicer. but still. the body of this car is a bit larger and making the wheels look smaller.
I agree with you Adrian. The design of the car body which depicts a swollen car 🚗 (upward) makes the 16" wheel still look small for the Persona. 😅

Hi bro, may i check with you, if i go for 205/45/16, will it be ok? why did you go for 192/50/16?

Cantik la bang... idola ni..i can fllow 🖒🖒🖒

I think it is not worth to use brembo brakes disc for persona😂😂.r u use coilover suspension?
✌🏻 tiresize.com/converter/
For offset if the number is bigger it means the wheel is more inward.
Some of the rim models which fit Persona are Enkei SC24, SC36, Advanti Parallex XII, Ultra XII etc. You can search them in Google for pics.
Offset 25 is probably a bit too aggressive. To be safe, 38 to 45 is more appropriate... but if in doubt, you should do a test fitting.

@@epulalang For Persona's engine power level I think 16" wheel would be the optimum upgrade. 💁🏻♂️ You can browse rim options from various brands like Enkei, Avanti or even Proton R3 etc for 16" size and pair it with 195/50/16 or 205/45/16 tyre profile. The important thing is the rim offset has to be appropriate so that the tyre won't hit the fender when under full load. I'm using offset 40 and it is just fine. 👍🏻
@@DesertGoon ok thank you. Sbb bg tips. Terbaik cantik
T1R d best I've tried so far...
Mac Dillian Rebin Yes it feels very good... 👍🏻 So far I had tried in dry condition and it performed well. Will see how it fares in wet condition 🌧 then I may conclude. 😎
DesertGoon You won't regret man. Mine were from Toyo Japan production. Haven't tested Toyo Malaysia production yet.
Berapa bajet ini bos pasang ini rim
Hi Nano. If I recall, I think it was over RM1k+ for the whole rim set (excluding the tyres).
boleh try ni
Hi Karock. 🙋🏻♂ Yes you can try it or some other nice designs available in the market. Please make sure the rim offset is suitable for the car so that it won't hit the fender while under heavy load. ✌🏻😎 #DriveSafe
Its look great. Better than ori one. Stock rims and tyres looks bad for that big body. That new enkei and tyres just fit enough. Nice mod bro
Rock Steady Thanks for viewing and the compliment. This was done with a reasonable budget only so for those who have a bigger budget 💰, they definitely can do better for their cars. 😃
Please update a bit why you choosing this tyres ? Not common brand like cc6 or ps3. Nice video
Why not opt for 205/45/16, as you will be open to much more varieties to choose from?
That is a good suggestion but I'm afraid if I use wider tyres it may be much heavier from original 185/55/15 tyres. 🤔
