- "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" is a children's movie from the 1960s that my mom made us watch when we were younger. Looking back, it was a very bizarre premise. As with a lot of movies it was based on a book, so I guess we can blame the author for this masterpiece / train-wreck. If I didn't think it was a classic before, I definitely do now. Hit me up to be in the remake.

I interpret ol' limpet as a sad man who's best pal is slammin his wife. As a result ol' limpy decides to do himself in by jumping into the ocean, his one true peace in life. The rest of the movie is made up of his dying thoughts of another life, under the sea. What could've been if I were a fish. Quite profound, quite touching. RIP limpy... RIP

As a Seasoned Fishkeeper (aquarist if you will). 6:22 None of these fish should be kept together. You have goldfish, Anglefish, and gourami. This is mixing tropical and non tropical fish together (those that need heated and unheated water). I dont see a heater or a filter. So in normal circumstances these fish would last a week (and also that tank is just ugly and poorly arranged with way to many fish).
Glad they had room in the budget to hire and listen to a fish expert.
Plus the ammonia levels from the goldfish would hurt the others, right?
I’ve always had extremely vague, spotty recollections of a movie where a man with circular glasses becomes a fish- turns out I saw this once when I was about 3 years old. holy shit, the sheer amount of deja vu/nostalgia whiplash I got when I saw this in my recommended. WOW.

I’m glad you mentioned that Don Knotts was in the Andy Griffin show. That show may not be everyone’s cup of tea but as someone who grew up watching it and had parents who watched it, I can confirm Don Knotts was an incredible actor and comedian.

@@stuffiequeen1764 the angelfish are from south America and need warm water usually 78-82. Goldfish need water around 68-74. Goldfish are probably one of the most mistreated captive fish. The tanks are always way small which will keep them from growing but their organs keep growing and shortens the lifespan by alot. They can get way bigger than what most people are capable of putting them in. It sucks
@@stuffiequeen1764 Also, goldfish famously produce a lot of waste and toxins which most other fish cant tolerate. You are pretty much only supposed to keep goldfish with other goldfish.

I saw this film once as a little kid and I was so confused. I could not fathom why anybody would want to be a fish. Then, when he fell in love with the lady fish I was upset because I thought he was married already and child me couldn't understand why anyone would be unfaithful to their spouse. The intro was outstanding. The interview style let me know that this wasn’t your run of the mill bad movie, and then when your mom said that he “saves the navy”, I knew this had to be gold.
This movie seriously was my childhood. No one I've ever talked to knew about it, so what a suprise! Right off the bat, i dont remember the romance, i remember the hermit crab that says flatbush and him yelling at Nazi missles

So, this movie actually gave me a weird existential crisis when I was younger. I think i was so afraid of turning into a fish because I was so unhappy with my life and then having regrets and not being able to change back. I love Don Knotts but this movie scared me.

When I was young me and my dad fell asleep on the couch while the tv was still on. I eventually woke up at around 3 am and this movie had just started (mind you I'm like 11 years old). I watched every second of this movie and was confused for about every second of it. It's A Classic.

Given the success of Flubber and Little Shop of Horrors; a Jim Carrey Remake would have not been so bad and I think we all would have watched it. Even if it was that Saturday afternoon movie you had to watch at your Grandparents house that one time.

There’s also a reference in The Little Mermaid during “Under The Sea”. When a bunch of fish point at Ariel, one of the looks exactly like the Mr. Limpet fish.

I remember this movie! I had totally forgotten the title and everything else about it, but I definitely watched it as a child in the early 90s.
I remember this movie came on tv one time I was visiting my parents and my dad was like "I LOVE THIS MOVIE" so out of curiosity I joined in watching.
Needless to say I instantly realized the difference in our interests...
I ended up riffing the movie the whole time and was confused why my dad liked it so much... but I guess it has something to do with the bizarre nature of it - zoophilia and such things were not a widely discussed or known thing back in the day, so the idea of a man wanting to be with fishes was viewed as funny/silly...
then there's also the strange overt patriotism...

Back in my college days no one would believe me this movie existed. It was the early 2000s, so just googling it on a smart phone wasn't a thing.
I found a copy on VHS at a goodwill and had an enormous viewing party. It was so much more than anyone could have ever been prepared for.
My dad came up behind me and said "is that the incredible Mr. Limpit?"
I was like, yes? And he responded with "that it a great movie!!! You remember it?" (to my mother) "yeah, that's the one about the fish?" "Yeah, that's a great movie, you should watch it!"
Wtf? Why did you know the name by just the way the fish looked? Like it was a scene where just Mr. limpit was swimming around, nothing crazy. I am so conserned for the collective of our parents now.

i saw this movie with my grandmother, and seeing her be so happy that i was watching it made me happy. she’s gone now, and that’s a fond memory of her i hold onto. but yeah this movie is weird
