Would your 3D printer pass this test?

When designing a model, one of the things we have to think about is what clearance gap to use between two moving parts so that everyone can print it, regardless of the printer… so we made this test to check it against our printers as a reference! Have you done a clearance test before, how low did you get?!
We made this project using the awesome stuff below and you should too because it's awesome.. (these affiliate links help support us too)

Hi i just want to know which programe do you use?

This is hella underrated
Thanks!
How has this comment only get 3 likes, they are spiting facts
No it's not
It is overrated cause you already have that toaster thingy
@@Azuretxzsyou don’t own a 3d printer then
It's a cheaper version of that torture toaster, nice
Nope. The toaster tests multiple different things. This just tests 1 tolerancev
Yeah, toaster also tests overhangs if I remember correctly, but this does the job if you only want to test 1 thing

Why do I keep finding the number 666 on yt?? Is this a sign??

Only the engineer can do that
Ya know what word we use in french to talk about clearance gap for machining? Tolérance! It might be a hint ;)
No it's ti small for it to fix
the way he keeps opening over 80% of his videos with the word "today" is oddly hilarious
Easily over 90% of the videos 😁

Not a chance. Probably my year and a half old filament causing issue too
That hammer tapping on your extruder killed me inside.
So like the toaster, but less filament?
It’s a torture roaster that cost $20
Gonna use it for testing my new 3d printer that will come in 10-15 days
No
Waste of money
Enjoy!!!
This is what “the toaster test” is for
But this is smaller so takes less time

So how do you change the settings to be able to make it not print so thick. That would have been a more helpful video
Hi, I'm just curious, I'm looking to purchase a 3D printer do you have any 3d printers that you could recommend? Not too concerned about price unless its something mad like 1000 bucks Thanks :)
I'm also very interested
I like my ender 3 v2, tho it is annoying some times (if you have a micro center near u you can get that printer for $100 it you sign up for a coupon, tho it is a limited deal so it is not always out. FYI the printer about $300 so it is a very good deal) 👍
A printer like the prusa mini is also good for smaller prints

Yep mine would pass that no prob. I'm able to get all the way down to 0.04 before my AD5M hits tolerance issues with PLA and .06 with PETG.
Nice, 0.04 is seriously good!
I want to try that with my ad5m. I have printed a few articulating models and they all have moved perfectly fine.
Almost too good, that's a very small gap. I'd love to see how you've managed to get that clearance and maybe share your settings so we can all have it lol

Crazy idea: 3D print 3D printer💀
that's literally how the entire hobby started, that is the entire point of the original RepRap project
i wish i had a 3D printer😔
It’s referred to as machining tolerance if anyone was wondering
Now we need a website or Google sheet showing this test with *every* 3d printer ever made
I did a version of this that was sorta like a bearing, just a bunch of concentric rings with V-shaped cross-sections and increasing gap width as you move away from the center. Good simple way to test, plus it's easy to clean out the gaps if you get some stringing or oozing in them. Plus, free fidget toy afterwards.
The diameter of the tip is the best way to know how small you can print the gaps without that test
Once you showed the 3d printer at the end I was filled with inexplicable rage.
Love polyterra filament, used it and nothing else for years now!!! Great strength with a slight bit of flex which is exactly what I need for the product I make!
I’ve been searching everywhere for a “that was easy button” but with the hell nah meme sound lol
Tolerance tests are fun. Printer hardware can only do so much though, the rest is optimizing slicer settings for the hardware available
He started smacking it like as soon as doing an upgrade to their appliances😂😂😂

You should try different filaments
Hitting it with a hammer to upgrade it is like in the sims where hitting the toilet with a hammer fixes it

It's my understanding that this is called a tolerance test
It's worth noting that your machines circle and corner tolerances are likely different. My machine can clear .05 circles with ease but can barely get past .175 on boxes and corners until i refine it further.
These have existed for years already. And many better ones at that
Nice love you stuff dude
Friendly Reminder using Cardboard in AMS can cause issues
Bro thinks his engineer from team fortress upgrading his machines by hammering me
Has anyone else noticed that little dial thing looks like his pfp
all good, but the way you used that caliper hurts me
What are the upgrades?
I don't know much about 3d printers. I know they are getting super interesting as they become cheaper and easier. I remember seeing the first home ones and my friends struggle to print basically anything. It always came out with the obvious layers showing. Now it is nuts.
Remember watching some dude simply switch his controller and his prints worked faster and came out better. That isn't so shocking as I am aware of how important a good controller with software is. But fun watching an easy swap make drastic results
You used an apple product in your test then expect anything to be right.
Silly.
The apple product has nothing to do with it 😂😂
brain damage

Brain damage
Given how many tolerence tests are already out there... No. There are significantly more informative tolerance test prints, like the tolerance toaster
the toaster test tests for more aspects of 3d printer use
I don't even know which printer you used. the AMS was definitely connected to a Bambu X1-Carbon, but you showed multiple printers in this video
Can you use a pipe wrench instead of hammer next time? TF2 Engineer like.
Тогда на 3д принтере будет жучок и сосулька в спине автора 😅
Genius.
Thousands of dollars on a machine, and you still have to calibrate and print 17 different things to get it right. All to make an octopus.😂
Bro’s upgrading like he’s in clash of clans
Oh so its like a test run
I’ll have to try it when I get home, any advice for supports sticking to print? 😅
Bro became clash of clans builder
You're better off printing a go/no-go guage and juat adjusting for tolerance in the slicer before printing... saves you the trouble of having to reprint and recalibrate for every single filament change.
Good thinking!
