I love that coffee shop! They did an amazing job with my order of "High caffiene and tasty" with no other context! Loving seeing the Tera printing so much! 5kg spools are love, 5kg spools are life!

Now remember this is 100% scale. This is larger. This is Michael Borque's twisty puzzle much much bigger! This is to go even further beyond! (last bit didn't happen but would have been crazy 😅)
You're not wrong, but at the same time, if you know you're going to need 10+ spools for a project, you can bulk-order PLA for like $8/spool. $80 is still a lot of money for a big toy, but as a one-off (not a recurring expense) it's not *that* bad.
A wide range of shapes will work. Convex hull shapes are relatively easy. It will be a little trickier, but it won't be long before someone does this with a human or animal shape.
A) I could see these types of kinetic sculptures at my local library's play space (though the blue pyramid's top would probably snap off due to, you know, kids playing). B) As it is getting colder, I can imagine the serious static electricity build-up with these sculptures rubbing against each other.
Love the channel. It would be cool to bring the designer in on the final print somehow with your story. Love that you mention them, but maybe sending them a huge one as well to unpack and they document their experience with it.
Any trouble with scaling up that large? The clearance between the two seems great. Scaling smaller also shrinks the clearance, making it fit tighter, but larger seems pretty unaffected.
Someone really needs to make a recycling machine for 3D prints that turns them back into filament, because every time I see stuff like this I immediately think of our plastic waste problem and how we now have microplastics in everything
These look great. I think I’ll try them at 200%. The giant one is epic, but perhaps a bit unwieldy. I just printed a couple of fidget rockets that have use the same helical principle: Helix Space Rocket (fidget vortex spinner toy) by GlennovitS 3D. My son loves them.
im so glad you got your big printer fixed. cant wait for the video. this is an insane print size. side note. "free for now" is a very annoying trend in 3d printing rn.
@treborrrrr that's not my point. You can create a model and sell it on day one. The current trend of doing free for now is making this really bad fomo eco system in printing.
@@3DPrintingNerd Glad to see that you fixed your printer! I just downloaded the Elegoo slicer, but didn't see a profile for the Orange Giga! Did you have to create the profile for it?
Oh no! It appears he took the files down, I was excited to print this, does anyone know why he took it down and can you share where he moved it to? (Legit legal links please!)
If you are looking for a profitable print for the big printer, might I suggest a hyperbolic parabola wishing well. Not only will it be a good work out for the printer, but it is a really good earner if you have the right location.
This is how the aliens created the pyramids! Gonna make my own lol but smaller of course i cant afford that huge one haha. it could work as Christmas tree now that i think about it.
The size of that thing makes me wonder if that printer might be a good way to print custom speaker cabinets while minimizing assembly. Is the print sturdy?
That big square one just cries out to be painted like a "Caution: Wet Floor" sign. On second thought, encouraging people to run across the wet floor so they can play with the warning sign might be a bit counter-productive...
When I was doing really big prints in 2018 I was able to source 5kg spools (from China). I would only ever print with 5kg spools now, as it takes all (most) the hassle out of running out, much less to go wrong.

As you scale you scale the gaps as well, so it's not surprising that it fits fine.
Heh true. I wasn’t sure if the gaps would scale to it being TOO loose. But it worked out. That sound it makes is nuts.
I used a .3mm gap and auto rounded all sharp edges, so I’m not surprised it fits well at scale. Love that sound.
