Roadside logging to create access for the big White Oak is impressive work! Can't wait to see how this preparation facilitates the handling of such a majestic tree.
Don’t worry too much about the sound, the main thing is that you are retrieving all that wood to take home and turn into logs for the townies. You are certainly doing your bit clearing up the environment and thus saving the polar bears. Forty years ago i used to salvage fallen trees from various farms i was working on. I cant stand waste, it’s the principle of the thing. My only concern is your back, you need to come up with a cunning plan for lifting the wood into your pickup. It is very easy to pinch a nerve doing that sort of thing, mine took nine months to come right and i had pain in my right calf throughout, “Hey , lets be careful out there” as someone once said. the best from England.
Morning, that's another great score for free wood.nice tool for marking the wood.ive seen those, but never used them.i noticed the next tree is off the ground. I like to shove rounds under after I mark those.then as I cut,the tree sets on them and not the ground.🍻
Just watching you toss those big rounds around brother makes my spine tingle. I’ll buy you a frosty at Boonville if you’re going haha Awesome load of oak bud 🔥🪵
Always entertaining watching you conquer the roadside finds. I have toppled a few stacks myself so it gave me a laugh seeing I am not alone in that complication. You don't want to do that to often at 70yrs old, believe me. Stay safe out there!
Hiya Scheib, your videos just get better! Love your relaxed laid-back style! I think I would be back at the roadside almost every day….temptation would get the better of me! Would love to see you with a skid-loader. You could take it anywhere with your trailer. Keep it up Len (Devon 🇬🇧)/
Hello Scheib. Nice looking White Oak. I hope your rounds didn't fall down again for you. I think Dude Ranch has 1 of those markers. Great video take care.
Good bucking session and getting an access point 👍 I've been nervously waiting to see what you were going to do with that huge blow down with the leaning rootball. Good luck and be safe
Lifting all those massive rounds are going to catch up with in the future sir. One ole wood hound speaking from experience. Paying for all my abuses. But do enjoy watching you work. Spectator from NEPA take care Earl
I think it was just the top(s) of the trees, with the bark falling apart. I just lucked into a big pile of white Ash tops. They've been dead at least 5 years, lost much of the bark, and have been baking in the sun and soaking up the wind 40 or so feet up that whole time. Thus it's rock hard, and essentially dry. The trunk rotted off partway up, so the top came down. ( There are a couple pf hundred up to 15" dia trees here- all beetle killed) It's great wood, FREE!!, and nearly all of it is no splitters or one poppers! Best of all- easy to handle. Never understood why so many sneer at tops and limbwood... This stuff is very dense, and birns long and hot- making great coals. Sure, more cutting- but way less splitting! Next up, is a pile of Norway Maple (hard). A huge limb that came down- partially dead, with some barkless. Every bit is solid, save for where it broke. Gotta love salvage wood! Half the work is already done for ya- often including much of the drying!
last time I looked it was hit pretty hard I'll let the roadside warriors that need it get the rest its easy for them to get to I'll get the harder stuff that they wont even go for lol.
Almost died. I've got an almost died for ya. Found nice big down ash. Walking around it checking it out. Stumbled face first, got a stick straight up my nose. Thank God it only went maybe 1/2". All I got was a bloody face. Imagine if it was 3-4". Still be laying there.
That is great looking White Oak. Planning your next move to get that Bigger 1 is right on. Where do you get that log marker as I would like to purchase one? Making cutting to length a lot better. Be looking for you tonight on Back40 Firewood with Dan Live. Looking for your Next Video when you Start Splitting, and when you get that Big Roadside White Oak Tree cut Up. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
Scheib, screw the racks....just deliver....most people who need wood, can't get it to their house...That is why they are buying it......If they had a truck to be able to haul, they would get it themselves......
This is going to make some of the best firewood in the world! Beautiful stuff! I am sure you have answered this before but how far is your travel to the roadside logging area? I looked at a 10 acre woods a week or so ago that a lady wants cleaned up but it is 30 minute drive each way. I still haven't committed because I try to stay within 20 minutes or truck fuel eats what profit there is. Have a great weekend!
Hey, Sheib That stuff you got is highway gold. But I thought you were going back to the log spot first to get the rest of the haves or with somebody else in there already or has access been cut off
last time I looked it was hit pretty hard I'll let the roadside warriors that need it get the rest its easy for them to get to I'll get the harder stuff that they wont even go for lol.
If I had the means to get it to Sam I would have but you cant make all the nice stuff into lumber if that was the case I wouldn't have any firewood lol
Does that Logging Landing area still have stuff left in it, or did someone beat you back to it ? That looked like “easier” pickings for ya; and I wouldn’t think many guys would tackle that big blow down Oak before you got there ? Not suggesting, just asking. Thnx… 🤙🏻
last time I looked it was hit pretty hard I'll let the roadside warriors that need it get the rest its easy for them to get to I'll get the harder stuff that they wont even go for lol.
Don't walk with logs, take care of your back. Roll them right to your truck. Or drive right to the logs. You definitely need some kind of lifting gear to load and unload logs from your truck bed. Don't waste your time and efforts, you are not young powerlifter.
Nobody does roadside logging better than Don Scheib!! Beautiful load and looking forward to the rest!! Be safe.
Roadside logging to create access for the big White Oak is impressive work! Can't wait to see how this preparation facilitates the handling of such a majestic tree.
You and me both!

You know you're a celebrity when people recognize honk driving by 😊
Hey, brother. Nice score! Beautiful wood! Hope you have a Blessed day. Chip
Everything was getting a workout today- the saw, Scheib, the truck etc. Don’t get the truck stuck and stay safe out there!
A well deserved tall can at the end! Great job Scheib 👍💪💪👍
Yes indeed!
Scheib has his own workout gym! Stay safe so we can see more videos💪

Just watching you toss those big rounds around brother makes my spine tingle. I’ll buy you a frosty at Boonville if you’re going haha
Awesome load of oak bud 🔥🪵
Nice thing about roadside vs tree service or even log loads......get to leave all the junk in the woods. Good looking rounds stacking up.
Wow, Sheib- there's about enough of the roadside stuff for a couple trips by itself!
Nice find!

Glad you enjoyed it
You were not the only one laughing, I have done the same, and cursed the wind, the trees, and myself,
That wood is perfect. It's a lot better than the sycamore you dealt with...great video!
Nice roadside wood recovery!💯😀👍🏾💜✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
You're going to be flush with free wood for awhile. Can't wait to see all of the videos you'll be doing with bucking and splitting that monster 👍.
That’s some good lookin’ oak!
Good lookin White Oak!! Nice work Don👊🏻🍻🇺🇸
Thanks that's some pretty wood, nice clean wood
It sure is!
Cheers, good looking wood, should keep you busy for some time!
I like the Mango Marker ! and the smell of white oak !
I love the smell of newly sawn logs in the morning.
Fine looking load of rounds.👍 AND a well deserved Orange Whip at the end o' the day.🍺🍺🍺
I really hope you are going back for that hickory also!
I believe that is still white oak I will double check when I get back down there.
Mighty fine looking white oak brother!! Perfect weather doesn't get much better 👍 The best firewood in my book.
You got that right!

You definitely get a good workout. Stay safe, save your back. From South Carolina.
Nicely done Scheib, looks like some premium firewood, Happy Easter Don . Stay safe my friend.

Nice jag of wood. You're a beast Scheib. Stay safe.
Excellent work and video Don for only two hands 🙌 😮😊❤
Nice straight grain lookin wood there I'd love to have it too 💪💪
Nice work, sir. Your back must be wicked strong
Good video Shieb, you are killing it with the 500I, great job.😅😅 it’s 5 o’clock somewhere.

Can't get enough roadside ravage!
love that saw what a beast
Nice looking rounds!
hi there you sure did earn that beer , good plan . best to all john
You got that right!
That shagbark hickory is great firewood too. Probably better than red oak. But white oak is great
I believe that is still white oak I will double check when I get back down there.
Nice wood and video as allways 👍🇧🇻
Glad you enjoyed it
Looked like a shagbark hickory that you were cutting and did not take home. Save your back! Those rounds are heavy!
I believe that is still white oak I will double check when I get back down there.

Digging the show bro
Nice load, good job
Get a bigger truck? Trailer? One load. Good video
Great stuff mate stay safe 👍🍺
Nice job on getting the truck back in there, just be careful lifting those rounds up into your truck
Will do
Hey Scheib. You get some beautiful wood from roadside logging. A lot of people don’t want to put the work in. It’s worth it isn’t it?
I found it very handy having a 10,000# winch that slides into my Reece Hitch with 110ft. of 3/8in. cable.
That’s what you call a good work out 🏋️ 😂
Ah, got your reverse light fixed. Cheers! ;)
If folks truly understood how much work is involved in harvesting firewood, they’d dang sure be willing to pay more for it.
You need Jake and Chris from Dude Ranch DIY. To come over with their new Mimi excavator and the log splitter attachment for that big oak .
Another Great Video 😮
Hope your keeping track of the roadside logging numbers.. curious to know what the yield is and time spent to get it all
Still going to work on that wood on the landing after the roadside logging? Be safe. Happy cutting!
last time I looked it was hit pretty hard I'll let the roadside warriors that need it get the rest its easy for them to get to I'll get the harder stuff that they wont even go for lol.
Hope you are keeping some this white oak for your personal burning. It burns hotter and longer than red oak
There is plenty of oak around here both red and white I can get it pretty much whenever I want.
Almost died. I've got an almost died for ya. Found nice big down ash. Walking around it checking it out. Stumbled face first, got a stick straight up my nose. Thank God it only went maybe 1/2". All I got was a bloody face. Imagine if it was 3-4". Still be laying there.

4:30 watch those chips fly!!!
White oak is super heavy wood, but great for heating.
Sure is!

Hello my friend and family. This is Ed Miller from Greenville SC. I don't you your trailer when you go to the raod side ?
The area is to tight and traffic is pretty heavy at times to try and back a trailer around
Were those limbs on top of that white oak by the road shade bark hickory?
I believe that is the top from the white oak.
Good job..i just subbed to your channel. How much does a 500 saw cost now?
Around 1500 bucks
back support belt?
i would get the wood while the gettings good and worry about the slitting later.

If it was me I would be using the trailer to get more wood
if there was a better spot to get it off the road I would believe me
🎉
Did the landowner give permission? I feel
It would be good to provide solid information on this vs making it seem legal to take trees along a road.
Love all that free wood 🪵
WOWjust think if you had a sawmill to cut some lumber out of that wood!!!!
If I had the means to get it to Sam I would have but you cant make all the nice stuff into lumber if that was the case I wouldn't have any firewood lol
yep your right@@OutsidewithScheib

How do you know you’re not cutting on peoples property?
Prior preparation and planning prevents piss poor performance 🤙🤙🤙
failure to plan is planning to fail
Finger wood. Lol.
Don't forget to drink yourself a Iron City Beer😊
I always split from the top back to the base .....
9:30 Did that monster from the last video shrink?
It’s just behind me in the video before I left the area I am soon ready to get it
Do you need to get permission to take that wood? Or is it on some land that is available to harvest firewood?
The land is owned by a water company that I have received permission from.
I assumed you must have permission of some sort.
👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺
I'm not your accountant, however.....I think you should buy a dump trailer....
lol i have one
