Very rare and sought after species of oak. Called “Free Oak”
It hurts my back watching you lift those rounds. Thanks for the video.
A set of ramps would go a long way to saving your back.
Hurts mine too. 😂
Me to. He should look into on of thouse winches that hook on the back of his truck bed hitch.
Yeah, It reminds me of all the lifting I did when I was invincible and now my lower back is smoked. Can I lift it? hell yeah. Should I? probably not. To bad we never learn till it's to late.
Brings back memories of younger days !!! Great looking wood !!!
Sheib! Get a 2x10 for a ramp - roll them right up into truck. Get some orange safety cones. Get a dolly / hand truck.
But then again; you're Sheib! Man of men! Good work out. Be safe!
I agree, in all that You said, He is a tough one for sure.
Love watching you work with those giant rounds. Every time I see a downed tree, I think about the size and weight of those and evaluate if it is worth it for me! Then I say "Scheib would do it"! Keep up the good work!
At the beginning of the video I thought it was a hickory, but as you started cutting it appears to be a white oak 🤷 Good sawing 👍 Be careful man, not worried about you doing something stupid- worried about stupid drivers not paying attention.
😅
Strongest wood chucker on TH-cam!
And joes the laziest wood chucker on TH-cam
watching from nova Scotia Canada good job.
Thanks for watching
Beautiful whiskey barrel-vanilla smelling white oak 😎
for one guy you are doing good by you self keep safe ,peace.
Looks like white oak!! Nice roadside logging!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
My back was killing me watching this! Great video!
You can’t get much more “Roadside” than that! Stay safe!
Hi Scheib ‼️ That 500i is No Joke it Rips Right Threw That Oak years Ago i had a John Deere8 Speed Farm Tractor 🚜 with a 2 yard Bucket on it iNew a Tree Guy That Cut Down a Forest for the Builder for Houses i Was on the Land with the Loader Getting Planty of Roads into My 16 x8 foot Landscape Trailer Till The Owner of Property Said He didn't Want Me 😄 taking a Chance with My Tractor So He Rather Me Roll the Rest of the Wood to My Trailer it Was All Good 🤣 i had My Brother in law Help Roll the 3 foot by 3 foot Oak Rounds on the Trailer i had Made 4 Trips when I used the Tractor before I was told i to take it off the Property 👍 i Got 10 Cirds of Firewood 👍 a Great Day 👍
Good day Schieb, I’ll be doing some of this when I get back from the Arctic end Mar. great load of Oak buddy . Cheers 🍻
My favorite wood white oak. Great video btu's and smells great. Your still a good worker Mr schieb.
I'm in Tennessee, I WISH you could come here and cut the five trees in my yard !!! I can't afford to have someone do it for money. God's Blessings to you !!!!
Nice video! Looking forward to watching you cut up the monster tree next and do a couple splitting videos.
It’s white oak…
Thats a beauty of a tree for firewood! That car didnt stand a chance LOL
For sure
every time i watch you load big rounds-my back hurts for a week-----love your show Please more and more often
I will try my best thanks for watching
"They're all gonna be lighter from here on out." LOL I used to say the very same thing! You just salvaged some very good wood! Great job!
I wouldn't call that roadside logging, Id call that ROAD logging! Excellent work!
Thank you very much!
Man that’s an awesome haul of wood there. I’d have tossed an old orange cone out and went for it too buddy. 🍺👍
Yeah I was gonna say buy a cone or two.
Great find ! them cars are flying by on that road !
Scheib, like you said it doesn’t matter it’s free wood 😮😊❤
Good lord Scheib that's some big stuff. Great work buddy.
It'd be worth it to get you some cones, maybe a men working slow down sign. Way to many people looking at cell phones these days. At the minimum you need to wear some bright safety colors being on the berm like that, from 100 feet back you blend right into the forest in those dark cloths.
hi there great find , it may be neat to find the person that hit the tree and give them that cookie you sliced , your a bit far away but i am thinking oak as my guess ,to bad you weren't a bit closer , i have an aluminum hydraulic hand truck , best to all john
Looks like White Oak to me. Becareful rolling rounds across the road. Just because you don’t hear a car you could have been run over by a Prius 😂 Roadside logging at its best👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🍻
lol I hear you there
Great score Shieb. Like others, my back hurts from watching you lift those rounds. A thought on safety. You could get a couple traffic cones to set out along the edge of the road on blind side. Just a thought!! Have a great day and open you a Dr. Pepper!!! Lol
I was thinking same thing or look into some Road Crew At Work signs, not that people actually pay attention to them
Great Score with the roadside wood, Best wishes.
Yey... Logger frogger... Scheib vs the tree thats already 0-1
Several cones and emergency flashers, should get their attention.
Yes sir I'd say that's as roadside as it gets, good bit of oak, nice job bud!
Hello Scheib, pretty good video!Next time you should bring a timber and roll your round over;it will save your back for your old days.lol
Thanks for the tip!
Excellent…good feeling recovering a tree of that size.
Healthy work
Kind regards
New Brunswick Canada 🇨🇦
I remember when I had that kind of strength. Now I noodle the big rounds you should too it only takes a minute with the 500. Find a couple cones to put out for road side logging just to slow them down 🎉😅😮😢😂❤
I noodle about half way, then wedge split the rest. At 69 years old sometimes that's not small enough
Beautiful load, looks like white oak on video. White oak has a very distinct scent when cut, smells good to me. Chestnut oak has very distinct leaves with serrated edges unlike the other oaks. Sometimes you can tell just from what is laying around the ground from last year, and sometimes that just cornfuses everything. :)
On another note......... I smoked for not quite 40 years, really enjoyed it. If I was nagged about it, I lit up another just to say I'll do what I want! :) Yet I always knew it was trying to kill me and had that daily battle in my brain the whole time of I need to quit and maybe I will........ after this next pack. I guess once I got old and feeble enough to really feel my lungs shriveling up I managed to work up the willpower to finally quit for good. (The patch worked for me) All I can say is the difference you will FEEL every day is gonna be worth it, not even considering the long term benefits. Plus it's kinda nice to have a few extra bucks in the pocket to spend on something else. I am not going to minimize what a royal pain in the brain it is to actually do it, but the end result is absolutely worth it. I am no Karen when it comes to smoking even as an ex-smoker(sometimes those are the worst!)....... smoke em if ya got em. You're a likeable dude, so I give you my heartfelt encouragement because it WILL be better for YOU.
That tree would make some nice bowls. Happy cutting
Gives new meaning to the arcade game frogger
Consider getting one of those 2 wheeled hand carts with pneumatic tires for moving rounds. It’s almost effortless.
Scheib those rounds look to good to be turned into bundle wood . It’s your call great video
Hello Scheib, now thats a workout💪 🤘🏻🪵🇺🇸
You got me road side logging now.. I have got about 1 full cord so far doing it!!
Hooah sarnt
Well done Scheib, another very entertaining video. Got to say I like your style! Why not take your trailer down, with the Gator. You can then buck, noodle and load the ‘big, bad boy’ straight on to the Gator, taking all of the rounds down to the truck. If you are going to carry on with road-side maybe look for a wheeled skid-loader to carry the heavy wood to your truck. In any event would be nice to see episode 2 as soon as. Keep up the good work. Len (Devon 🇬🇧).
To many moving parts especially with the traffic
Glad to hear you say that you are going to noodle that next big tree. No way your back would handle it, and don't take that as a challenge!!
lol I will not be picking those big suckers up that’s for sure.
Hot damn, it is nice to see someone that knows how to run a saw. Full throttle through the entire cut, without all of that throttle fingering you see posted.
TIM from Canada if you were working in isolated area, cutting wood suggestions put out pylon cones with flag on top put them around your area and down the side of your workstation so you are boxed in and people will see the pinecone and the flag. You can get pinecones at the dollar store I don’t know if they have Dollarama in USA, but I’m sure you can pick them up at a truckstop having pinecones in your area will help you and then at the car comes at you. The pinecones will be inside the engine of the car and gives you time to get away. Invest in pylons or pinecones wherever you wanna call them.
It would be funny if someone driving by goes WOOOOOO!
I agree
Hey Scheib , that was a nice road side tree . I hope the people didn’t get hurt to bad when they hit it . That last tree is a monster . 👍🏻🇺🇸
That tree wood make beautiful furniture, flooring, or doors.
It's like burning money.
My back hurts watching this haha, you should get a ramp or something so you can roll them in
Great vid Scheib.
Luv your roadside logging stuff better than any other firewood TH-cams.
Keep up with the good finds. Looking forward to Round #2 video with the other big one waiting to experience your wrath. Stay healthy with getting the Rounds or Quarters into the truck … 🤙🏻
Thanks
I am going to need to take some Advil after watching this video!! Please look into the lifts that fit your hitch! We all want your back to stay strong so you can keep making these videos!!!
Roadside Loggin'.....Catch the Fever.
Put up caution signs and cones works good for me
Dude, my back is screaming for your back. Use the winch you made for the box wedge and get log tongs 😂😂😂. You sir are an animal 💪💪💪
Right on
Nice score! Great video! 👍
wood always smells good great video
That’s nice rounds. I’m thinking hickory but hard to tell on screen. Take care of that back my friend.
White oak the bark threw me off a bit
My back hurt just watching you load them
White oak all day long. Look for the sun rays at the end grain. Look it up brother. Medullary rays. Oak and Beech have them. 👍👍 Good stuff as always. Get it!
Thanks for the info
Nice job! I suggest finding a used section of skate wheel conveyor to use for loading. I found two 9' sections for free on line. I use one to load 16" x36" green Doug fir rounds by my self. Yes, I know your hardwood is heavier but I'm 69 and work alone. This type of conveyor makes it so easy and fast.
Love your channel please stop smoking!
This looks like where I live in southern Ohio. It blows my mind how many really nice trees are just waiting to fall over and strike power lines here.
A good pair of log tongs and a sappie is in order.
Love the roadside logging videos. Awesome.
More to come!
Hey Don, my back twinged every time you picked up a round. Kind of looks like hickory to me, but you will know for sure when you split.
Looks like a nice white oak to me. White oak looks alot like shagbark hickory at the top.
National hercules cuo goes to this guy.
Time for a little crane mounted on your trailer bro, and what about a winch on the front of your truck for those bits deep in the bush, or down a gully?
I’d say that qualifies as roadside logging and looks like some nice wood!
Good job, Scheib. The last big round i loaded up it was my legs that were shot. LoL
I must use my right arm a lot when doing this that’s what hurts at the end of the day anyway.
That was an AWESOME video Scheib!
time.! Garden your back, you should carry a sledge and wedge so you can slit these big stuff in half make it easier to load. I say this because I got caught in an accident ruined my back and have been disabled for years now.
Glad to see this stuff not going to waste a lot of things like this out here goes to waste it usually just sits on the road side.
💪💪💪 All day long. Be safe!
definitely white oak. you would know from the smell if it was hickory
Scheib I thought I was watching the World Strongest Man competition or were you trying to do your version of the Stone lift…😂😂😂
Good lifting technique 😊
TIM from Canada suggestions if you have large rounds stacked them on the ground 2 on 2 then two high level with the back of your pick up or trailer if it is high when you pick your rolls up, you can now have them level with your truck or trailer and it is not bad on your back and you can rule them into your trailer or truck remember them on the ground two on the bottom two on the top if this is the height you need for your truck or trailer Polamas high as you can then with the next one it into your truck or trailer
Could you take your splitter with you to make it a little easier to move the rounds in quarters.
That's a big Ole tree.good thing you big and young.looks like a white oak.back of my property has a lot like that.back in a flood plane.never been logged. Other bigger tree looks the same.execellent wood🍻
Right on
Nice loads of wood. I going call on some tree about mile from house tomorrow. Keep up the good work.
Sounds good
17:24 In regards to your reverse light, if you’ve never heard of them I highly recommend checking out DieselLED’s reverse lights.. once I switched I’ll always have them in my trucks, brightest reverse lights I’ve ever seen
Road looked pretty straight both directions so there shouldn’t be a problem with traffic except for those distracted be there phone. I suggest having some traffic cones and put them in each direction on the yellow road lines to get peoples attention
Are you up in Pa.?
I'm in Washington Co. Maryland and we have trees down everywhere, but the state has so many regulations against taking wood it seems impossible to get permission.
Be Safe and keep cutting!
Nice scenery behind ya nice areas in Pennsylvania , didn’t look like that much till you started loading nice load
Nice sharp saw for sure. Good work out cheers.
Nice work!! Good score!!
Tim from Canada if you have sawdust in your area and you have mud put the sawdust on top of your mud even you think you want the water to run away the sawdust is going to help you with your mud
Dang, buddy. Great job. 💪
Whooooo! Primo Score!💪🏼
Bless’ns 🔥🪵🇺🇸
Your comment is giving the option to translate to English 🤣
@@OntarioFirewoodResource Cool, I’d love to finally be able to understand what I’ve been saying for all these years!
Bless’ns!👍🏽
Just one 2x8x8' ramp would mean no lifting, just rolling.
About time you stopped messing with that Sycamore! Your saw probably felt insulted having to cut it LOL. Well, one thing for it being so heavy, is hopefully nobody will want to work that hard to take it from you when you are not there!
Yeah I don’t think that will be a problem
Ya you Got Watch those Wood hounds Scheib ‼️ They Probably Watching you When you Were Gonna leave So They Grab What you just Cut Up 😂
This dude is corn fed strong
Really sharp saw
Nice stick of wood! Hopefully you asked for that firewood. I’d be afraid the landowner who has the land posted (signs everywhere) would catch me chunking up that nice veneer log. The penalty for timber theft if very stout and definitely not worth the risk. I personally wouldn’t recommend taking a tree anywhere near a property line without permission.
I have permission as far as the posted signs they are 300-400 feet off of the actual property that is posted
I was wondering do you check root balls for any treasures. Like old bottles or metal remnants from the past.
Interesting. Here in NY, the property owner pays taxes on property to the center of the road, giving the owner rights title and interest on all included assets, including them trees. For trees and other obstacles within the right of way, the state, county or township managing the right of way has the authority to remove trees like this. They will generally set the trees back to the edge of the right of way for the land owner to remove or will take them away but in no case arbitrarily give them away. Anyone roadside logging could find themselves handcuffed to a barbedwire fence for the afternoon.
Here the state owns the highway with a 15' buffer on each side.
Yup, Same here in Ohio as Russ said for NY. your viewers better know the law before they just start taking trees. Here right of ways are 20 from center on rural roads and state are 30' from center, but that is not ownership, it's only a right of way for traffic and road maintenance. If the road is abandoned the land reverts to the property owner. Right of ways are not ownership. after watching I would bet the butt log was off the 15' state land and on private. Fifteen feet is 10 rounds at 16", more than that and you may well be on private. Also is that 15' counted from road center or edge....everyone better know the law as I said. As a forest landowner, I would have issues with someone cutting up my high dollar white oak log. NOt trying to be a smart arse, just suggesting everyone knows for sure it's ok to take road side trees. At least ask the landowner. I came back after asking for legal opinion on this and was told the landowner retains all property rights on those trees in almost every state. The only people who can freely remove them are government officials and workers maintaining the roadway. So take at your own risk is what I say....
Your back mate, my goodness I hope you don’t suffer later in life.
Hard working man good job
I do the same thing for free firewood. Every year we get blowdowns along the side of the roads. Many times, the township just pushes them off to the side. As long as it is on easmemt property, it's basically no man's land, so I grab it. I'll leave it alone if it's in someone's front yard, but if it's like the one in your video, I come back with the chainsaw.
Get yourself a cant hook, some l9g tongs, and a hookaroon. Makes it easy to move the rounds.
