    Thanks for the video & your comments !!!! Very helpful for diagnosing my Chevy Tahoe with not shifting into OD …. and erratic RPM's on the dash tachometer.

      Congrats on your success. I have a 94 S10 I bought new and now my youngest son has it. It's sentimental to him, we're doing our best to refurbish it. We replaced the Throttle position sensor but we're still getting a code on it. I've seen some videos that talk about resetting, restoring the idle position. After replacing yours did you have a procedure to follow to do a reset and if so. Where did you find the information. Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

    i have a 1998 oldsmobile intrigue 3800 and I had to mount my tps with the throttle body attached. I wasn't able to calibrate it properly. The one time I had a mechanic take the throttle body off and mount it correctly I drove it to louisville and it ran AWESOME but then the engine compartment fire that I had a recall for and was waiting for the replacement part from the dealer who told me, well if it hadn't happened yet it probably wont but it did. I had to take it to dealer in louisvilleon dixy highway to have it fixed.... TPS hasn't been the same since

    A code tester like the Actron CP9690 can adjust the TPS. It has live, record, graphing, oil light reset, smog test readiness test, oxygen sensor tests, RPM'S, oil pressure, vacuum, VSS mph, and MORE! It has cables for OBDI for Ford, G. M., Chrysler, and 2 Toyota. It has a OBDII cable. It has a cigarette lighter cable, It comes in a black carrying pouch. Get a 12volt cigarette lighter battery adapter. Instructions are included. It works on cars from 1983-2013. It is updatable.

      Marty : I have that scanner . I can see the TPS Voltage on live data stream when the car is RUNNING . However , the TPS on my Chevy has to be adjusted to .55 volts when NOT RUNNING , like in the video . I cannot read voltage on the scanner with the key on , engine off . I borrowed an old Snap On MT 2500 and you could adjust it . But not on the Actron . I even called them twice and they weren't sure . Unless I am missing something ? Let me know if you have done any pre 1996 GM's . Thanks , Bill .

    Can you tell me the part number of that tps. I keep getting the wrong one (i think) from auto parts store. On your truck as well as mine the throttle rotates counter clockwise but the tps i keep getting cant and wont rotate that direction. It goes clockwise. Not sure why i cant get the right one. But maybe its and odd year on my truck. But your throttle rotates the same as mine so i need the same tps aw your. Comment on this thread. Ill find it.

  • @mrbreezeet1

    2001 Grand Prix with a 3.1-liter motor, started idling high after good and warmed up. No codes at the time.
    When motor would idle too high, 4T65E trans would shift super late under light throttle. About 25 MPH and 2,500 RPM before it would hit 2nd. gear. Was OK the next day. 3rd. day, high idle and late shift again! This time the check engine light did come on. Code P0121. Scanner TPS angle percentage at idle shows 0 sometimes, and sometimes 0.39% and ~ 100% at WOT. One time while sitting there idling fine, ~ 700 RPM, all at once the idle kicked up to ~1,300 RPM all by itself. I looked at the scanner, now TPS angle percentage went up to 2.75%.
    From my readings it looks to me like the sensor IS receiving the 5V reference, and my ground in good, and my reference voltage is changing and being sent back to the ECM. My voltmeter is at my buddy's garage right now, so I could not do the voltage testing at the TPS connector, as you have outlined.
    I'm ready to take a chance based on my findings, and just install a new TPS.
    What do you think?

    • @jacobhilner1330

      It’s pretty simple if you haven’t done it yet you disconnect the negative wire to your battery then you have two Allen bolts that you unscrew from the tps sensor and carefully take it out and replace with the new one

    • @pigeonsil240sx
      @pigeonsil240sx ปีที่แล้ว

      the procedure was flawed, you cant do ohms testing on a live circuit as the way your meter works is your meter injects voltage into the wire to determine the ohms.you only do this ohms test on ground wires on non live circuits to determine if it has a path to ground which isnt a good test either we always want to do loaded circuit testing to stress the ground,.instead you switch to mv scale and it shouldnt exceed 100mv on a low amperage sensor circuit.you will typically see under 0.020mv on a good ground,if you see hundreds of mv or volts or OL on meter you have a voltage drop issue on the ground wire,if you see 5v you have no ground. if you want to learn more about this stuff follow scannerdanner.

    your ohms test was wonky because you did it on live circuit which give false readings since your meter injects voltage into the system to determine the ohms,testing live grounds just put on mv scale instead you shouldnt exceed 100mv on a low amperage sensor circuit.ive done this mistake before as well and i use ohms to determine if i have path to ground but not loaded circuit testing
